Ah, the old "what if Jesus had been aborted" argument. My stock answer is, "then humanity would have been redeemed 33 years sooner".

I don't understand why people try to tie ancient texts to modern philosophy and sociological issues.

"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May your word to me be fulfilled." Then the angel left her, but he took all the coat hangers with him as a precaution.

Her argument about Mary was hilarious. An angel told Mary what to do, right down to giving the baby it's name. Had she been pro choice, and then decided to disobey the angel of God after she became miraculously pregnant, I do say that would have made for a more interesting story, but legends never start out that way.

Mary said 'yes'--so she was given a choice.

Mary was pro choice. After the angel told her she was pregnant with the messiah, she said she accepted, which means choice.

Can you demonstrate a soul? No? Next topic. Can you demonstrate the supernatural elements of the Bible are factual? No? Next....hums the jingle "...for the Bible tells me so..."

If Mary was pro-choice that means she made the choice herself to be the mother of Jesus. Funny how some people seem so reluctant to give Mary any agency.

Child sacrifice was practiced in ancient Israel. According to Dan in some accounts Abraham sacrifices Isaac. It doesn't seem as though Yahweh was too concerned about child sacrifice, let alone the status of fetuses.

Your peak level of patience is insurmountable and unmeasurable for dealing with repetitive arguments as well as people. Its impressive.

Isn't it telling, that this content creator's first assumption if Mary was pro-choice is that she would abort jesus, the suppoosedly son of god? 🤣

The majority of Americans are pro-choice, and the margin isn't small. The majority of Americans are also Christians. So there's some overlap there. Conclusion: yes, Christians CAN be pro-choice, and many are. It's to such a point that even the republican nominee has to moderate his position to one of states' rights rather than a national ban. Ohio went red in 2020 by eight points but voted for a state constitutional right to reproductive health by 12 points, which is a 20-point swing. Arizona and Florida are trying for similar ballot initiatives and the conservatives are in full panic mode over it.

That's all well and good from a dogmatic point of view, but we don't legislate ANYTHING because it's some religion's dogma.

I'm always a little confused, because people rarely bring up the fact that Jewish Law has always held that a baby is not a person till it takes its first breath after being born. Since conservative christians are CONSTANTLY using the term "Judaeo Christian" ( because, of course, it makes them sound quasi-intellectual I assume), then why do they never mention this? And of course NEVER mention Numbers

It would be a pretty weak god if an abortion could stop him from his master plan. Don't you think? 😅
