Lorcana is the one TCG that my GF and I play together. Now that Ravensburger is pumping out more and more boxes. There's no need to wait hours in line or pay a higher price to be one of the first to get a box. It feels like I have to pull an Enchanted or it's a bust. The value isn't there anymore because of the over printing. This only means that buying singles are going to be so much cheaper and I'm all for that.

We play Lorcana in a very similar way - I didn't realize how long I would be satsified just playing the starter decks

All the elements are there for this game to have staying power plus it's got that Disney magic baked in. What really stands out to me are all the people, myself included, who are able to play Lorcana with family members and friends who previously turned away from TCGs. The game draws people in.

I literally play One Piece at my lgs every week and I still don’t think it will be as big as Lorcana. It will be interesting to see how Lorcana is doing after their 1 year anniversary next September.

the reason we havent seen that ternd in other tcgs is the fact that most other TCgs have been able to satisfy demand on release, while ravensburger has woefully underestimated their own market. most of the secondary market panic sales are also from newbie collectors thinking this is gonna be a $1000 a box product and they just kept buying and buying even after Ravenburger already announced they were going to print this as long as there is demand for it. wether Lorcana has any real value long term is probably only gonna be visible in maybe 10 sets from now and how they navigate the changing meta. it cannot survive on a purely collectors market.

I think people underestimate Ravensburger. Someone there said they already have a schedule for 10 years, with that level of ambition, there is no way they actually believed their product will have such a low demand. The initial scarcity was by design.

I don't think its targeting the collector market very well tbh - I think majority of the people buying the cards want to play with disney characters. Also MOST every tcg that has hit the market in the last 4 years have screwed up print runs - IMO success is those who learn from their mistakes.

It'll survive, but the collectors who inject a LOT of money into TCGs are jumping ship. I think it's going to be the new Metazoo. The piece of info you're missing here is a LOT of these boxes are ones that are being resold to try and recoup losses from stores and other collectors. Boxes were still selling in November because the box value was still net positive. That has completely changed. There is also nothing revolutionary about a product going lower in price and sales increasing as a result. That's like economics 101.

It’s still selling in December tho - and as far as collectors I see what you’re saying but I don’t think I can agree - I think people will collect this in ways we don’t see in other TCGs (save maybe Pokémon )because of the connection to the IP Regardless takes like this not only help me understand community feel but is a really interesting conversation and even tho we disagree on some stuff I really appreciate your thoughts and you sharing them here ❤️

Lorcana is in same category as One Piece and Metazoo partly. I think the last Metazoo players will move to into either game and some part of mtg and Pokémon players will be heading to these new tcgs too. However I don't think FaB or Sorcery has much overlapse. So many games. I don't know if every one of these can survive or they will be significantly smaller games rivaling to each others than mtg used to be.

I disagree with you. Disney Lorcana has a massive inventory of characters throughout its rich history, and the cards are beautifully designed.Metazoo will always be seen as a Pokemon ripoff with terrible artwork and meh gameplay. .Lorcana has more positive reviews than the first sets of Pokemon or Metazoo on gaming sites.Most of the people who supported Metazoo from the jump start were speculators .Metazoo has no history or anything to make it last or stand out. Disney has movies,theme parks , great wealth of characters, and history on its side.Ips like Pokemon is the only competition to Lorcana.The only thing that could derail Lorcana is the woke stuff.If Ravensburger continues to release great new sets, then It could challenge Pokemon or any of the big ips for the throne.

My advice for people is to wait a couple of years and see before splashing too much cash into it. There are soooo many tcgs in the market right now and I honestly don't see Lorcana competing with many of them when it comes to gameplay and collectability. Metazoo is a perfect example of how people wasted a ton of money because of FOMO and that game is basically on its way out...

The one massive thing lorcana has working against it is its disney, disney as a company is in the toilet just check their stock price, average people hate disney right now bc of their stance on divisive political issues. They need to just go back to being a company producing a product for their consumers and leave all that other nonsense to someone else, companies are not supposed to be political, theyre supposed to make a product to fill a need in a market, thats it. I have high hopes for Disney and the beloved characters they've created for generations, i believe the love for these characters is the only reason the company is still alive and will possibly endure what its going through right now, someone needs to right the ship over there and it aint Bobby Iger

Meh, the Disney 100y box is nothing but a waste of space. Just buy Elsa and Mickey promo singles for cheap and your investment should be safe.

@@HometownTcgsure, the box may sell as sealed product. My argument is about it literally being a waste of space, it's a lot of air with 5 boosters in the bottom. I also think that some promos of the 6 will be worth substantially more. The two I referred are my own bets.

They should create an online platform to play the card game itself just like how Yugioh has with Master Duel. It influences the irl card market everytime a set gets added to the online platform.

There is an online version. It is called Pixelborn. It isn’t official, but it is a ton of fun. Many KZfaqrs play Lorcana on that site.

I hate that you compared the newest one piece set, to the lorcana set that has been available for much much longer. One piece is no doubt and will be much more successful than disney lorcana.
