Russia was the biggest killer for me doing this quiz 😅, I was more fortunate in Africa and Asia though. Big tip- Everytime you :DOME: (complete) a country by covering each city, it will say “____ Completed” to the right of the map if you’re just going for covering each city. It’s also useful if you’re trying to name that last city that you need to eliminate options from a country.

On the right underneath “answer stats” it will tell you when you complete a certain country so that is how you would be able to tell if you got all of it. Idk if u already knew that but yea

Good job, you're too harsh on yourself, you're knowledge is very impressive. Fun fact about Poland. Our administrative division doesn't really acknowledge aglomerations, except Silesia, which is a south-east region of Poland, with Katowice. Katowice is actually pretty small, less than 300k people, but the aglomeration is considered much bigger. The only city with over 1mil people is Warsaw (1.8mil, but it includes lots of suburbs). Other top 5 cities are Krakov, Lodz, Wroclaw and Poznan, which have 500-800k citizens. However these numbers don't include tons of small, neighboring towns that in other countries would probably be considered as suburbs.

No Russia really have pretty huge cities, but almost nobody actually live anywhere else.

Well Russia has 309 cities with a population higher than 50.000 (2021 census), and US has 510 (2020 census). US population is roughly 2.1 times larger than Russian, so Russian cities number is alright.

Love these and want to see another US or North America one. One tip, you seem to get hung up on the bubble covering all of the land. It’s just not going to happen on the higher difficulties, and it doesn’t matter if there is no cities in that uncovered area. I get it looks cooler when every last bit is covered but this only matters if you are doing 1k cities or all US places which includes things like CDPs which aren’t formally cities. Keep these coming! Not to knock on Chicago, it’s cool in its own way but there’s something about a geographer who clearly has a passion for variety in different types of places is in an extremely flat area 😅

I know it's not possible to cover everything with the bubbles, but it's fun to try in areas where it is, and I prefer to play with that secondary goal in mind :)

I dunno if this helps you or someone else, but parts of Africa follow French spelling rules, where _ou_ is an "oo" sound (rouge, soup) and _o_ is (usually) an "oh" sound (hotel, rose). Yamoussoukro = yah-moo-SOO-kroh Cotonou = koh-toh-NOO Douala = doo-AH-lah Ouagadougou = wah [oo+ah] -gah-DOO-go English isnt French though so its common to de-stress the second syllable (yah-muh-SOO-kroh; wah-guh-DOO-goo)

I think the mozambique capitol you were trying to think of is Maputo. but it doesn't even show up on the map so it wouldn't even matter

You can still type in the cities that show up inside another city's circle. For example you said Milan showed up but you didn't type it in and you struggled to find another city that covers what's around Milan.

Salt Lake City proper surpassed 200,000 people in either 2022 or 2023. But, that plus the suburbs is about 1,200,000 people.

Your quiz yesterday got me playing a few games on it last night. I like some of the set up designs they have. But am infuriated by the map scrolling part. I had to create a work around where I taped my control key down so I didnt have to permanently hold it down. So annoying. So I played a lot less than I probably would have if that was fixed. Its funny, I would see them from time to time in Battle Royales on Geoguessr & always thought "I wonder what that is", and never followed through. But you do 1 video on it, and I spend 3 hrs playing it the same day. Also, I was yelling at the screen "Maputo", and "Recife" the whole time. A tip I learned from doing the ones I did yesterday is, even though you captured cities, if you know what they are, especially at the far edges of the circles, type them out... it might jog your memory on more when they light up a different one in their circle.

I think in for Russia they just use the city limits, Russia doesn’t officially track metro area populations, but if you do count the outlying towns, Irkutsk and Vladivostok do cross over the million mark if I’m not mistaken.

So I just looked up the Russian wiki page on city agglomerations in Russia, and Irkutsk has 1,058,000 however Vladivostok is only 858,000. Tyumen is pretty close at 985,000. ru.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Агломерации_России

The quiz says "I tried to include a few cities that may not be the main city of the agglo" Could explain Tampa and SF Bay Area -- St. Petersburg and San Jose likely would've been accepted for both

Learn the history of the region. That is a better way to know all the cities than to find a random city in that region and learn about it

8:29 Maybe this but Polish cities are generally not very big, though Kraków should have over 1m in urban area, also Łódź (you didn't name it, but it's pronounced Woodj)
