Can I fly to EVERY United Airlines Hub in ONE day?

United Airlines operates seven hub airports: Newark, Dulles, O’Hare, Houston, Denver, LAX, and SFO. In this video, I attempt to visit them all…in ONE day!
We’re calling this Aviation Marathon, “Hub Hopping!” and it was one of the most epic and challenging travel days!
With six connections, six airplanes and six crews, not to mention seven airports, plus who knows how many weather systems. A LOT could go wrong.
But, did I make it? Keep watching to find out!
Here’s a link to all of my Star Alliance Videos:

As you took off from Newark, I can't help but think Tony Soprano is down there driving on the New Jersey Turnpike listening to Woke Up This Morning by Alabama 3 while seeing your plane. What I like most about Dulles is the Udvar-Hazy Center/National Air and Space Museum annex. A hidden gem of a museum with Space Shuttle Discovery, an Air France Concorde, plus it has a neat observation tower to watch planes take-off and land

The terminal at Dulles is famous because it was designed by Eero Saarinen (the same guy who designed the gateway arch and the TWA terminal at JFK that is now a hotel), and looks very modern for something built in the 1960s.

My late friend Stewart worked private security at Denver. One day he got off work and decided to go to the lower levels of the airport. He kept descending further and further down and found himself at a level with machine gun carrying guards. They stopped him and told him if he did not leave immediately they would shoot him and he was not to talk about what he saw. He told me the story shortly before he died of pancreatic cancer. He waited too long for treatment. We were dear friends and I miss him a lot.

In Houston, sometimes its faster to walk between C and E. It depends on where the gates are at. Houston has an odd layout at the United gates. Terminal A (Delta, Spriit, AA, Frontier, JetBlue) is much more user friendly for figuring out where you are going. The gates are just grouped a lot better. Plus, TSA is usually shorter at Terminal A (at least when I fly)

Gotta say United is incredible when it comes to delays. A couple months ago I was flying from EWR to DEN via BNA. I was scheduled to have a 1h45m connection in BNA, but the flight was delayed 1h 43m. Thanks to United, I was able to make the 2 minute connection and arrived in Denver perfectly on time. Absolutely amazing.

Honestly, I'm surprised to hear that United was connecting anyone at BNA, but glad to hear you made the connection! Southwest connects lots of people at BNA and AA and DL sometimes do, but that's kind of surprising for UA, given their relatively small presence here.

@Originalman144 2 жыл бұрын
They are more likely to wait a few minutes for you if they know you are very close because of a connection -- plus with everyone already onboard it's easy for you to walk on and find your seat. They can always make up the few minutes in the sky. If you never checked-in at EWR, of course they wouldn't of waited.

Jeb I love your channel and watch most everything. I worked part time for United just so I and my family could fly free. My wife and I now serve in Kenya as volunteers at a rural hospital but my son also works for United so we still get those free flights. The added benefit is that in 6 years living in Africa, about 75% of our international legs have been in business and first class, esp during covid. So someday I'm going to try to beat your United Hub Hopping and book them from EWR to KOA. I've also done a lot of travel vlogs on my business class trips, inspired mostly by yours.

I used to chat with a UAL pilot when he was off duty some 20 years ago via computer, he was the nicest person, and down to earth. He eventually left for other employment. But one day, I'm in Dallas at a bar, at the outdoor patio, I see his name, but he was having a nice conversation with someone, I didn't want to interfere, I later told him, he said I could have. About a month ago, I was online again, his name shows up, he's at a event about a hour from me, I couldn't get my roommate to go, my car needs work, so another missed opportunity.

I only found this channel recently. Good job on navigating the UA system. DEN is my home port so United is what I almost always fly. Since it's home, I've never had to do the full bore concourse dash at DIA, but far too many times I've run down the neon tunnel connection B and C concourses at ORD (the Rhapsody in Blue Sprint.) I've been out of hardcore flying for so long now, I didn't realize EWR was now the NY hub. When I was flying it was LGA, which I see from some of your other videos is now all new and nice and not all rundown and scruffy. Great job on this and your other adventures!

Jeb, this is a crazy day, but I'll have to one up you on this one (granted these were not United flights). Due to my dad being a super cheapskate when it comes to airline travel, after a visit to see a family member in Spain this was our return flights... Madrid > Paris > Copenhagen > Toronto > Washington DC > Chicago. This was all in one day! Due to our flight into Toronto being slightly late, we missed our connection from Toronto to Chicago even though we were there well ahead of time. Just missed the one hour baggage re-check-in time for flights into the US. So we had to take a slightly later detour of a flight to DC and then back to Chicago. Let's just say, dad is no longer in charge of booking the flights! This was a miserable travel day!

I'm sure you know that UA considers Guam a hub as well. Now that would be a really long day, but due to the international date line you should still be able to do GUM-SFO (via HNL) -EWR (redeye) and back to LAX through the other hubs all in one calendar day! I think you should go for it.

The IATA Code of Dulles Int'l Airport is IAD, not DIA. Between 1962 and 1968, the airport code used to be called DIA, but was confused with DCA. In 1968, it was decided to change the airport code into IAD to avoid confusion with DCA.

I would absolutely LOVE to do this... and maybe try some of the other major airlines. I would probably try to do it in 2 days instead of 1 so that I can enjoy the airports a little more.

@@Ephigy1 I've seen a few videos from US networks perspective, which actually pointed out how ridiculous it's getting here. Unfortunately most Aussies are happy to put up with it and think things will get better if we keep locking down constantly. You can't travel to other states/territories (we only have 8) without an exemption, there are so many rules which at times make little to no sense, and even when things do get slightly better the state governments do snap lockdowns with no warning at the slightest of cases, which has resulted in 3 domestic trips of mine being cancelled in the past year. For example where I live, barbers aren't open (even by appointment, with masks etc) because they aren't considered "essential" so I can't get a haircut, yet 5 people can gather outside for a picnic, and supermarkets are open as normal where there'd be more of a chance of spreading Covid than at a barber by appointment. 5 people can also gather outside for sport, however personal trainers still cannot have classes and make an income, even if it's max 5 people. If you are unlucky enough to be considered a "close contact" to someone who has tested positive (like I was, just by being unlucky enough to be in the same place at the same time) then you must stay home for a 14 day quarantine and get 3 Covid tests, and even if your second Covid test after 5-7 days is negative, you STILL need to stay at home for the full 14 days. Luckily my employee pays out Covid leave, but I feel for people who lose income due to being an unlucky close contact and not doing anything wrong. So yeah, that's life here down under in the "Lucky Country" at the moment :)

@@skyline3694 Sounds preferable to being in, say, Idaho, where hospitals and medics are so overwhelmed that they aren't performing CPR on adult patients anymore, because it takes too many nurses and doctors to run a code, and if they survive, they don't have ICU beds to transfer the patients to anyway.

@@Ephigy1 Things really are as bad as they seem. I'm in Melbourne, Australia. We have been in full lockdown 6 separate times for a grand total of 220+ days. Soon we'll break the world record currently held by Buenos Aires. Schools have been closed for all or part of every school term/semester since the start of 2020. We're not allowed to leave our homes except for the bare essentials. We can't go more than 5kms from home, which is about 3 miles. There was rioting in the street near my house over the weekend... and I live in one of the most affluent neighbourhoods. The most crazy thing is that hardly anyone is getting sick, let alone dying. We handed our freedoms too easily and it's proving difficult to get those freedoms back.
