I bought a set of nice chrome wheels used that had some peeling. I fixed them all up but the chrome plating was peeling on the bead of the wheel and I don't think they would of held air.

Steel wool only works on real chrome not chrome plated I found that out the hard way

Nah you got to strip all that original coating off and prep it, thd original finish is too far gone to paint over

That’s what I thought. To the left you can see the cancer crept under and started lifting the outside chrome finish. I would say take the tire off n start w a grinder to get at the top layers then maybe the rust killer. I wonder the integrity of the wheel.

RUST-OLEUM Bright Coat metallic finish, if the surface is very smooth, will give you a near chrome finish. RUST-OLEUM Metallic, what was used in the video, gives you a sliver color. Can must say Bright Coat.

I painted my dually wheels with Rust-Oleum bright chrome. First coated them with etching primer. They turned out okay. Gives illusion of chrome. Not quite as shinny as chrome. If it is next to real chrome it shows. If by itself it's ok an a 1ton 4x4. It's been a little over 2 years. They are not near as shinny. Might clean up and look better. Haven't tried. Can see small spots look like rust coming thru. For the amount of time and lack of maintenance, I'd say it was a pretty good product. Not as good as chrome hubcaps. Much cheaper. Price on those hubcaps is crazy. Damn near the price of an actual wheel.

try gloss black it will come out nice and shiny I've use chrome before and it didn't produce the results I wanted but black looked alot better

Not as well as I would have liked the finish didn’t turn out as e metallic it turn out of a cast aluminum color

Why bother. Rattle can on any car part is hokie. Waste of time, and it won't last
