I Raced ALL The BIKES At Sea Otter, the Circuit + Road + XC + Dual Slalom + DOWNHILL all in the same weekend. In this cycling video I breakdown my efforts in 5 races over 4 days.
The GOAL: Get midpack or better in EVERY cycling discipline.
The RULES: Compete in the HIGHEST category possible.
WHY?: Because I LOVE bikes and enjoy the competition aspect. So why not?

"I might as well be the elite of being mediocre" Brilliant! I have been out of racing for years. I was never any good, but I miss it a ton. This made me smile. Thanks man. I love your channel and your approach to the videos. Serious racing with a healthy slice of humility, self-reflection, and reality. Love it. Thanks for all you do!

Yeah Tyler, I’ve been racing road, gravel, and XC mtb stuff for a while now, and I also consider a year lost without a triathlon, a fast road 10k, and a long trail running event or two. Never find myself further up than mid pack and that’s just fine. Do it all, love it all. Thats the best way to live and truly have fun in these sports. Totally agree bro. You’re the man, and an inspiration.

Its this guy's job to be a pro athlete while simultaneously sharing his process with thousands of people. I honestly understand why he would be a bit self conscious; he's constantly analyzing his own performance and often seeing people outperform him, and showing that whole experience with youtube. That isn't an excuse to complain all the time/make excuses, but I think he handles it pretty well given the circumstances.

This is at least the 4th or 5th time I’ve watched this video. I love it and I also love all the bikes. At 52 and unfit I’m not going to podium, but I love the race atmosphere and challenging myself. Not looking for the win, but a PR makes my day.

If I'd rank what I get out of watch your content, it'd be: 3 - bikes. 2 - great storytelling. 1 - your openness, telling it like it is, both the good and the bad, in a light hearted, non-toxic way. Great stuff as always! Please make more!

This has been a major reason why I have never started filming cycling for youtube. I like to ride all bikes and I always heard people say to find your niche before going on to KZfaq. Every time I started getting the stuff together to film, I would just quit because I was worried I wouldn't be niche enough. But this video gives me a lot of hope. Thanks for that.

Dude, do it. Everyone's starter content sucks and you'll likely find your path through content creation. I honestly think multi-disciplined activities are becoming "the thing" now and guys like Lachlan Morton are great examples of breaking the niche formula.

I don't often comment on youtube but I gotta say here. You have a remarkable attitude and did fantastic! You could be stuck in a dead ass job, but are doing what you love, and we all get to share in that. Thanks, and you would win the bicycle pentathlon! As a ex racer I always try to remember, have fun, because after all were just riding around in circles.

Absolutely amazing video! Having fun on the bike is the most important, so if competing in all disciplines gives you the most joy, go for it man!! Maybe a challenge for next year, try to compete in xc, circuit and road on the same bike, just changing the tires and wheels ofcourse.

dude its just being totally honest with yourself, and having reasonable expectations for what you can and should be doing. and you also have a lot more to lose than a lot of other people. you can't go full balls to the walls racing either. you got kids a wife to go home to at the end of the day, and yeah while they want you to go have fun, they also expect you go home in one piece. bikes in the end is... just a part of your life, and you're sharing that life with your family too. mid pack in everything? thats a win, man. i don't care how other ppl see it.

"Just do it" is so relevant to where most of us our with cycling, racing, or whatever we love doing with bikes. And "who the hitters are" is often relative to who we're racing at in the pack at the time, age groups, levels of fitness, etc. Very awesome! The 80K XC race was my FIRST MTB race after just getting a hardtail and the Gravel Race (on Sunday) was also fun... the same course as XC race less1-lap. Peace! -Greg

Your an honest family guy that posts your stuff, the way you like it, and the way your team likes it! You do you! I dont think any of the haters really could do what you do, making content, especially involving what your content is all about takes a tremdous amount of skill, patienec, effort and TIME! Your an honest YT'r that really shows humanity, normalcy, inspiration and truth. Keep up the great work. Oh, and you should do a cycling/editing camp, ride, edit, ride....here in Scottsdale!
