This is amazing storytelling. From your words, to the videography, to editing, music etc... It's incredible to hear your inner toughts on how you faced the struggles and turned them around to accomplish this. Inspiring. Thank you

Also I kept thinking a 29+ bike like the Trek Stache would be perfect for this. Bigger tires are always better for me.

This is an amazing ride. Hypothetical here, do you think this would be doable/enjoyable for your average cyclists… with an ebike… sleeping overnight in each town.

VC, Your videos are awesome! I've watched most of them, and there are so many times I just get up in the middle of your videos and go out and ride. Question for you though, what top tube bag are you running in this video?

@VC - crazy awesome video. I'd love to hear what your coach or other coaches say about this type of challenge. I'm thinking about trying a 5k version of challenge but would love to understand it better first.

Before you descend into Summerhaven, try turning right at ski valley and climb up to the observatory! You can get another 800-1000 feet of elevation gain and get some even better views at the top

Did you do any planned acclimatization?
@TheVCAdventures
@TheVCAdventures 7 күн бұрын
I only had 3 days at 8-9k ft before the trip. My son turned 13 and instead of acclimating for this trip, I spent 2 weeks with my son on a massive boys trip riding dirt bikes all over the west coast. I payed dearly for that, but wouldn’t change a thing. I let JB know ahead of time that I was gonna be slow and hurting, he did not care 😂

like most cyclists we know how things can go ok to really bad really fast on a ride at any given point. i can ride 80 miles with 6k vert. with relative ease but if i had to walk more than a couple miles im dead.

Great stuff here. Just discovered this series a week ago. They should be streaming on Netflix. I hope you’re still doing something. I would like to plan something similar to this, although a bit less ambitious. Maybe stretch out your three day adventure to six. Thanks for the content and inspiration.

Any tips for becoming a better endurance rider? I bike like 8 miles a day for commuting to work, and maybe once a month go on a longer distance (30 - 50 mile) bike ride. But I find that a 10-12mph average speed is the most that is sustainable for me. Like I no way I could do 100 miles at 18mph

You will one day stand before God and answer for everything you have done. How will you do on that day? Here's a quick test: Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you used God's name in vain? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Have you had sex outside of marriage? Have you ever had, or been involved in, an abortion? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, fornicating, blasphemer, adulterer at heart, and murderer, and the Bible warns that God will punish you in a terrible place called the lake of fire: Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Yet God, who is "...rich in mercy,..." sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross for all guilty sinners. We broke God's law and the Lord Jesus Christ paid our fine. That means God can legally dismiss our case and He can commute our death sentence. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift: Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Oval rings are best if you are a heel dropper! I considered them but I am between toes pointing down to neutral. IMO Oval cranks are a bike mounted orthopedic in neural muscular terms your body will adapt to it. but getting over the jumps in the 10-52t is definitely something to test out! :0)
