This is why I left standard metaphysics (New Thought) The whole thing has long been taken over by the ego. I was in my last class before graduation for practitioner training (Science of Mind, which I loved); suddenly The Voice said, “This isn’t what you want.” I was confused, but I listened, and stopped pursuing the ministry. That was the nineties. A few months later I discovered A Course in Miracles.

course in miracles is literally the most mind blowing book I ever read. I kinda feel though its just a huge repetition of the same thing, always have the best thought the moment you dont then you are going against yourself. Atone yourself to the vibratory match... just repeat repeat repeat.

I was in a relationship but it was very abusive. I had to leave he was a toxic person. It's been 2 years now and I feel so relived that I'm away and free. In some situations it is best to leave. I tried for a very long time to forgive etc etc but it got too much for me. I had to walk away.

For me "be normal" always meant like, don't be weird spiritually. Don't present yourself as special. That's all it ever meant for me.

I hear you. And yet Jesus never said "be normal." Jesus says "do only that." Nothing can be fully experienced in the negative terms of "don't be" or "do not be." The negative statement is simply a fear of Love, and Love is all encompassing and has no opposite.

I fought with the idea of "be normal" for awhile. I didn't like it. It sounded like the ego to me, yes. But it all depends on how you look at it. I am a follower of the Course and The Disappearance of the Universe, and that's just what I got from it. To me "be normal" doesn't mean be worldly or don't follow your guidance. I mean, I don't live a day without following the Holy Spirit's Voice. I used to teach the Course pretty often in Course groups, but the day came for me when it was ALL about forgiveness, not about being right or trying to prove I know what the Course is saying. But honestly, what you say is one way of looking at it. It's one approach to the Course. But for me when i practiced "be normal" I found myself leaving my Course groups and simply focusing on my healing. That's the only point to the Course in my opinion. But there are many different approaches to the Course and some people cannot hear it through Ken Wapnick or Disappearance, so what you say is absolutely necessary. But for me the Course is a self-study, and while i do share my thoughts and ideas on it I never think I am cool or I have to teach everyone. In fact, through practicing the Course, receiving the full Atonement and waking up to Reality Jesus is making me the perfect teacher and equal to him. But again, there are many different ways of looking at and approaching A Course In Miracles and the curriculum is highly individualized.

That's the same thing ACIM says, life is suffering if you follow the ego. Buddhism also has a path of non-suffering, which is non-attachment...pretty similar to ACIM path of forgiving everything, just Buddhism doesn't have a God concept.

I believe I am a son of God. But I cannot deny that I have somehow chosen to be here now on this planet in this space of so called time. That would feel foolish right now for me. The course tells me Spirit is here to help me discern all these symbols that were created to distract me from my function. That Spirit somehow knows what it is to be human and can help me utilize these miscreations to fully recognize my oneness with all. So I want to be humble enough to know when I am hearing the voice of Spirit over the voice of this so called ego. I wake each morning and go to sleep each night with the prayer to help me be the love and extend this love. And yes, I somehow have duties here to take care of family, offer help when I feel guided, ask for help when I feel guided, work so I can pay the bills. You are correct when you say Let go of the world, let go of this course but somehow I don’t think Spirit expects me to deny this made up world at the expense of others. Yes, the others are figments of my imagination but they are also mirrors of The Son Of God.

Lesson 189. I am on lesson 8. It has been two weeks since I discovered the course. What has happened is my negative thoughts have increased tenfold. As if EVERY regret and pain and anger from the past 53 years wants to have air-time in my head. It is new years eve,and 2022 is ahead. The fight (illusion though it may be) has taken its firm grip. I got up, it is 4am, and when I tune into David, whatever random video YT selects, there is an answer for me. Thank you, both of you, for answering my question from the very first. I also want to leave the person I have lived with for 5 years. And you both tell me to wait and then lesson 189. Which I will write out immediately, page one, of my new 2022 diary.

This is interesting, because in the personal notes, Jesus told Helen and Bill to stay in their relationships (even though they started based on fantasy / specialness). He said to stay and change it from within: "If you shift your own needs, some amount of corresponding shift in the need-orientation of the other person must result. This will be beneficial, even if the partner was originally attracted to you because of your disrespect." (Urtext)

Hi David. Love your reference to the Matrix! I first saw the movie 15 years ago and it literally floored me. Completely explained an out of body experience I had been confused about since the 80s, where a guide tried to help me understand the dream world we live in and where we are while we are dreaming. Not exactly as the movie portrayed but similar. Soon after watching the movie, a friend handed me the Course. I'd been searching for it all my life! I am a slow learner but I listen to you every morning. Much gratitude and love.

Do you think there are ancient wounds in the mind that long for healing and a special relationship can help bring it to the light? If I came here to release guilt or seek forgiveness, this world can make it easy for me to avoid my function. The “I need do nothing.” Or be a “ passerby” sure could make it easy to run from my function. Any resentment I feel comes from me not from blaming others for my decision making.

Wow! Finally I watched this video! I don't understand, now, why I kept looking over it...maybe because I wasn't ready to think about that. Things are happening...I can't seem to keep my attention in the world, I feel ???, I forget what I'm doing as I'm doin it! I feel truly like 2 people....separated, right now...and my attention is needed by responsibilities. You said it David, I heard what I heard....there is no going back, no hesitation, I have everything I need...in my mind, now I just have to get my body out of its role, my mind is ready to ... fired up, ready to function!
