I asked this question in the closed beta before they implemented the limit. It turns out when the game tries to start it just takes forever to load and it breaks the game

im pretty sure i saw some huge decks against crims mill decks... I kinda believe it was above 250 cards First above 100, then >250, finally around 400 But i can be wrong

The hard limit is probably something like 2.1 billion. That being said, the client would almost certainly crash well before it hit an integer limit.

Only way I can think of to legally add more then 250 cards in the deck is stuff like Oracle of the Alpha and flicker it a bunch of times, not sure what it's limit would be? 😂

It’s probably just an integer indexed list. On 32 bit machines, that’s a limit of about 4 billion.

So, funny enough, a friend of mine and me use to play on cockatrice where you could make a deck with every single card and play.. of course, we both had a copy of said deck and launched a match.. we crashed the servers. xD So if you are wondering why you can't use all the cards in the game in a deck for normal MTG, it's probably because the sheer amount of data it would take to load the match for one person would stress the servers too much and if you multiply that to even more people, the servers would actually catch fire.

I have no issue with the concept of a pre-ban, but I just wish they would let us have our fun with it for like a week (or at least a couple days) before the ban took effect.
