If nothing else smoking different tobaccos in different pipes is a great excuse to have a lot of pipes and I can appreciate a good pipe collection.

That Nording sounds like a beauty! I’m with you on dedicating pipes for English versus aro, but then within those divisions, I usually mix pipes. In other words, I’ll smoke different English blends in the same pipe. As I try to get more acquainted and better at smiling VAs, I’m starting to dedicate a few in that direction too. I know it's been five years since you made this, but I am curious if you ever got the Nording pipe with the deer antler that you mentioned? Also, if you did, did you dedicate it to English or aromatic blends???

What is right for one person, may be wrong for another. After you smoke a pipe, you should give it a rest: at least a complete 24hrs. The pipe expands and contracts, so you should have at least two pipes. But if you don't smoke that much, one pipe will do. With a new pipe, you need to break it in. Don't fill it up to the top at first. Fill about 1/4 of the way. Do this about 3 or 4 times. Then 1/2 way, 3/4 and finally to the top. What you are doing is building up a crust on the inside of the bowl. The crust will then expand and contract. Every person has different tastes. So you may have one pipe you only smoke one type of tobacco with, but another pipe you may smoke cherry blend and black cavidish: mixed together or seperate.
