I'm a Catholic who uses Cannabis to help me with Clinical Depression and chronic anxiety. I take it with my prescribed pills which do nothing. The most addictive thing I've ever put in my body is nicotine. I don't get wasted. Ive been approved for medical use by a Doctor. My little boy has MD. Through the grace of God, I'm praying 2 rosaries everyday and going to Latin Mass every Sunday.

My biggest issue with cannabis is that I've found that it got in the way of prayer, once I got back to praying. This made putting it down easier.

Bruh that weight lifting in zero gravity analogy is spot on. I legitimately had that same thought a few months ago while high. I realized peacefulness doesn’t feel the same when there’s no actual effort being made to be in that state. The effort and struggle made while in this sober reality is what makes it so beautiful.

This is something I’ve been working on. I was using marijuana as escapism. I was dealing with a lot of mental health issues, which is why i began smoking i. The first place. Ptsd, anxiety, and depression. I was spiraling down. Then one day I felt the grace of Jesus and uplifted me. He’s been working on me ever since and I’ve been healing, and I see a difference every single day. ❤️

Thank you for this great video. Its been seven months that I’ve been marijuana-free, by the grace of God. Praying that this is a permanent life change for me.

I used to smoke weed for the longest time. *Journaling my worries* with my pen and *sharing my burdens* with christ was what I needed. Reflecting on my worries and sharing them with Christ gave me the mindfullness that weed gave me in the past. Whenever I've *fasted* from carbs or water fasted I've felt less anxious and my compulsive ticks have always gone away. Whenever I've taken a *cold shower* I've felt very refreshed and brave. Whenever I've been *chast* for 10-14 days I start feeling another level of confidence and people notice that gleam in my eye. Amphetamines and weed have given me curage to try new things, mindfullness, confidence, calm. These days I feel I'm able chase those metaphysical things without weed or amphetamines.

God Bless and heal those addicted and in pain. May they find the true grace of God's love.

I'm curious what the difference is between recreational weed and recreational alcohol. Alcohol seems to be more dangerous in every category (side effects, potential for addiction, death from overdose, change of behavior), but is "allowed" recreationally by the church. I’m glad you made the distinction between medicinal purposes and recreational. There’s a difference between stoners in their mom’s garage puffing and passing to people who are responsibly using marijuana to deal with pain or other health issues. I know many people who were addicted to prescription pills but found that medicinal marijuana really helped to bring them better relief and mental clarity. God bless 🙏🏼

That Pope Benedict quote at the end is so incredibly moving, wow. And he is definitely right. The issue with drug use comes with people using it to cope with the world instead of using Christ. However, there are multiple parts to this. The issue with drugs, particularly marijuana, is the same as the issue with everything else in this world, and it hinges upon intent. If you have a hard day and come home to your house to smoke weed and forget about your stresses, I believe it is safe to safe that that is a sin, and is not leading you closer to Christ. However, flip the script and come home and get drunk instead of smoke weed, and it is the exact same problem. Now, imagine you are with your friends and you have a few drinks, as was done in the Bible. Using it socially and in moderation can give us recreation that is not for the sake of coping, and can act as that social lubricant that draws us closer to our friends. I believe that the same can be true with marijuana. Socially and in moderation. The issue is not with marijuana itself necessarily, and rather how we use it, and that broadly applies to so many other things in our world. I have seen friends destroy their lives and brains with extreme usage of marijuana, but I have also seen people use it socially and in moderation, and nothing ill happens to them. In fact, even something is gained a lot of the time. However, this is just my perspective. God bless you guys for this video.

My drug experimentation was 50 years ago. Your description perfectly paralleled mine. On retrospective analysis, I lost about 2 years doing drugs and another 3 years returning to normal. Five total years of emotional stagnation. In old hippie parlance, you talk was, "Wow beautiful, man."

Cannabis is my medicine and brings me closer to god! Period. It makes me a more empathetic and compassionate person, it helps me manage both my physical and emotional pain. I would just like to point that out. Also it is not hard to tell when a person is lying. Making up stories about “using drugs in the past” when it is very very clear to anyone who knows that said person has never experienced that lifestyle is wrong. Regardless of your intentions, lying is wrong. So there’s that too. God put it here for me to use and appreciate and I do!! Cannabis helps me to be my best version of myself, period!!

Second day slowly releasing my addiction. Tried cold turkey but couldn't due to it being a constant in my household. Slow progress has steady wins ths race.

Does "No drugs" mean no coffee, tobacco, sugar?

I understand the concept of how using weed as a way of “putting ourselves on a higher plane” is wrong because the best way to come in contact with god is to be in touch with reality. But I don’t understand! If you only drink when having fun with your friends and you don’t become an alcoholic it isn’t a sin, but why can’t you just smoke weed when you’re having fun with your friends? Not trying to say it’s totally fine to just be addicted to pot but it’s also not okay to be addicted to alcohol. So as long as you’re not becoming addicted to the use of pot or depending on it for your happiness, what’s so bad about it?

These arguments aren't completely watertight to me. Jesus' first miracle was creating wine out of water at a wedding celebration...we can assume people were freely imbibing and probably drunk. The Catholic church also encourages fasting and we have accounts of Christ and Saints doing prolonged fasts that can also be viewed as altering their mental states, as these often lead to hallucination. People's mental states also alter from day to day depending on their diet, sleep, hormone levels, exercise, external events that influence mood. What even is a clear state of mind?

Main thing is to always be looking at yourself in terms of these kind of relationship breaks. Just because you cant have a drink once a week, or take a toke once a week, doesnt mean it effects someone else's relationships.

These types of plants can be used as medicine not just recreational drugs. They help with cancer etc. It should be used as medicine only.

I work at a psychiatric hospital and see young people all the time come in after they “only smoked weed”. I won’t give the very graphic details of what I see but sadly, it is not uncommon to see some pretty crazy, bizarre and definitely not G rated side effects. So scary. I hear ppl defend use of mj like its their religion. I wish they can see what I have seen at work. I swear they’d never touch it again.

Not happy that Canada has made it legal. We now have a jungle of marijuana growing in our backyard. My husband has lived in a state of oblivion for 35 years. I've witnessed him going through withdrawal. He refuses to give it up and coughs up a lung every time. And it stinks.

Hey Victor here, I'm 24 an addict for 10 years now With a On and off relationship to "soft" and "hard" drugs . I truly Stopped using everything for 2 year's now including alcohol Everything Except Weed and nicotine And those are by far the most difficult one's to stop for me ! I'm praying to God To be strong enough to let go of these last addictions too Amen!

Great analogy with the weights in no resistance. I have overused marijuana in the past but lately, it’s a 1-2x a week in a micro dosage so it doesn’t get me high but it does relax me. Even with hard work, you need a vacation.

I don't mean to double text but I just lost my only son two years ago of an overdose of heroin and I did not smoke no weed after he died all I did was sit around and cry River so I called up my cousin Colorado and he brought me some very powerful weed on depression rage grief you name it and when I started back smoking weed again I started feeling spaced-out blurriness headaches and sick to my stomach which is very rare I just want to tell you guys I really appreciate you

This is a great video!!!! I used to smoke everyday and several times a day at that. I would get relief for my nausea. But really never felt high. But realized that I was actually hurting myself in the long run. So I stopped with no issues physically. I just love the fac God lead me to this knowledge. I now can talk to people with the addiction and let them that drugs are not the answer. Face your life head on with God as your guard. God Bless

Personally I see it as the same with alcohol, it can be very beneficial when used appropriately, when used sun up to sun down it might be a problem. Occasional or daily use in moderation of pot, alcohol and any other drug or activity that brings pleasure shouldn't be an issue if it doesn't get in the way of being physically, mentally and spiritually sound. Personally I found myself using it to feel like I was okay when I was in a place in life that I should have been doing better and it held me back from getting that piece of mind by actually getting out of that bad situation. Then I did the same thing with alcohol, then with exercise After getting to a better spiritual, mental and financial situation I found that it became easy to have moderation and use alcohol and exercise in moderation and not as a focal point to try to escape my troubles. It's not about the object necessarily, God did not create anything by accident or mistake, we have free will and if you cannot help yourself from temptations then it would probably be best to stay away.

Depending on drugs to fix your problems is like trying to fix a leak with a band-aid- it might cover it up temporarily, but the real problem remains.

Wow. I like you guys. I’m an alcoholic and have been sober for almost a year in AA. I never liked weed. Lucky me, right? But a lot of my friends smoke weed, including my husband. You (and The Pope) have articulated extremely well the reasons why it’s not good. One of the things I noticed when drunk was the absence of my need for God. It took me a couple days to be humble enough to pray. This was deeply troubling. I couldn’t quit-awful. I struggled many years on and off alcohol for seven years. I have personal experience noticing what an alternate reality did to my soul on a daily basis. I absolutely loved your analogies but particularly loved the best reason; we move away from the answers Jesus reveals to us on our journey. James 1:2 we can’t grow in the way Christ wants us to. I smoke weed every day and i wish to not feel like I need it but the way I felt before as a sober person I shall say ...I hated the feeling ...I hate the feeling of anxiety, the dread , I just never liked how I felt without smoking weed. Weed has helped me in so many ways it just helps me deal with life itself ...smoking weed helps me see life in a more beautiful way ...man being at the beach on a beautiful day and smoke some just makes the experience better ...I rather not drink..drinking has been a problem for me when I drink I don’t drink just to drink I drink because i want to be drunk and let lose but it hasn’t been fun at all I just black out and act crazy ...weed is helping me in so many ways ....people are becoming more intolerable for me to deal and I find myself getting more irritated more than ever before because people are just becoming more annoying ...I’m at a place where I rather not deal with anyone period and I feel like I wouldn’t have to smoke as much but i would still smoke because it’s just great ...I don’t want to try anything else because there’s no point but I can see how a person wants to try something much stronger for a better high but I know going down that route there’s no return those hard core drugs scare me...alcohol is like a hard core drug for me because it effects me way worse than weed...weed only makes me feel paranoid in certain moments but as long as I am at home relaxing smoking weed just helps me deal with life because this life is too much for me to handle .,.especially that I struggle with ptsd, depression , anxiety it’s been very hard to try to live life everyday with this pain ...I do believe in god and I been trying to keep him in my life I do hope one day I don’t feel like in need anything because right now I just ran out of weed and I’m thinking about how I can get more ...that’s where my problem is ...I don’t want it to control me now and I’m aware of it ...I already felt the withdrawals . Very well said. The best anti-marijuana lecture I’ve ever seen. I think young men, in particular, suffer from this habit in that it stifles their masculinity and teaches them to run and hide behind chemicals rather than toughen up and overcome struggles.

I’m not sure I’m completely convinced. Everything said about cannabis can be said about alcohol. I find a closer connection to other people while high. I think its biggest danger is when it’s used to escape the problems of this world. I think, like alcohol, it should be a case by case basis. What is sin for one may not be for another.

I started smoking marijuana 2 years ago. It stated off great, but than I began to have major panic attacks while high. I turned to the lord, after that. I've stopped but to this day I still struggle with the same anxiety that began when I got high. I hate when people try to glamorize marijuana as tho it has no affects.

You know if a child doesn’t really know what the right path is, it is suffering. I went through a lot of trauma as a child and I could only describe it souls wondering the world. And being that I saw them looking for good and right but as I keep seeing them, I get exhausted in trying to keep my own faith. It’s almost like we runn out of ideas on to be who we really are. But the most efficient way that I found out that work was to stay alert but friends have said you can’t be this way as it is an unfriendly judgement, but I tell them that’s why the importance of knowing your friends is held higher then war.

I’ve been talking about the use of weed with my Deacon and Priest. They both have told me that it is ok to use in moderation. Just like alcohol. I told them I use it for multiple reasons. For example I use it for my ADD, when I want to do something creative like paint or make music, and when I am surrounded by my friends and family watching a movie or having dinner etc. I use edibles so I know exactly how much I take so I can make sure I’m not taking too much. I’ve noticed that it doesn’t make me unable to control myself. I feel pretty normal like I could drive or even go to a meeting. I have made the decision to stop drinking alcohol though. I was never a big drinker but alcoholism runs in my family so if I will drink I will only have a glass of wine or a nice cocktail. Getting drunk has really put me in some bad situations so I’m glad I am no longer doing that

Amazing reflection, the only thing I regret is this video was not available when my city council approved recreational marijuana business in my city. My 17 yr old son and I went and spoke to them on behalf of the youth in our city along with many other people from both sides, they ended up approving them.

AMEN to this. God's love and Truth is found in REALITY. With that, if you're going to use medically, Moderation is KEY. Including dosing and frequency of use. This video is awesome because the most important question: "is it bringing me closer to Christ?" ... Medicine is sometimes needed outside of prayer for certain issues, and if we have the resources we should use them. But BE AWARE. Using weed medicinally or recreationally is mentally addictive. "WE WERE MADE FROM FREEDOM" Be vigilant, be careful, and be connected to God. If weed is keeping you from being cognitive at Mass, when praying, when reading scripture, and building yourself up with goals and desires, then it is keeping you from God.

VERY interesting in the beginning, how he says it leads to other bad things. An older guy who did drugs flat out told me - "DON'T". My druggie friends who have heard about what I, on the spectrum, have done, the states I have reached, the spirituality I have, simply by listening to music or experiences with God told me that that's exactly like getting high, but without the addiction. I still feel I should try weed or even mushrooms at some point, but fragments of edibles or chocolate that my druggie friends gave me had no effect on me on camping trips (I'm guessing because a) my form of autism is immune to drugs because I'm so synchronized to the cosmos that I'm naturally 'high' all the time or b) it was the fact that we were drinking or c) it was the impact of the campfire/stars/ambience negating any impact on me).

I have a med card for my PTSD and PCOS and IBS I truly believe God gave me marijuana because I was on 16 different pills and it made me very suicidal and I had many attempts but since I started smoking and eating edibles medically I haven't had attempts and I converted to catholicism from being brought up pagan. I feel like medical marijuana has cleared my mind and made me realize who I am and how important having a relationship of God is. I have seen too many people abuse the plant and I think that is horrible and it can cause some messed up stuff but it affects everyone differently

I smoke occasionally, not habitually, and feel alright. I can't handle being medicated every instant. Sometimes it's annoying. But if you don't need to be high don't be high. It's that simple. Just about the only thing I can think of that would be okay recreationally would be to go out for a run, perhaps in nature. Other than that, I hate when people abuse marijuana and others, just to be cool. And just because it's less harmful than alcohol and nicotine, it doesn't mean you need to make an abusive lifestyle out of it.
