There’s a couple similar starts in the Godherja total conversion mod. If you haven’t played it it’s a fantasy mod where a magic style Roman Empire fell apart called Averseria. In the eastern portion of the map there’s a Averserian Legion surrounded by Mongol analogues.

There was no saving Imperator. Its foundations were poorly designed and the devs could only do so much to work everything else around that. Improved certainly but very good? No, and it never will be. There's still nothing substantial separating playing a Celtic tribe from Rome, there's no system to simulate how Rome subjugated entire regions simultaneously using trade and diplomacy before military force. Sad as the map looks gorgeous and obviously a lot of time went into making it very detailed and well researched.

@@shaddaboop7998 None of your complaints have anything to do with the foundations of the game. They can do this if they return to developing it. Right now it is at the point it should have been at release. The game lacks content, not features.

@@imcardbored8394 The foundation of the game was a micromanagement hellscape that tried to marry EU4 map painting and Victoria population management while missing the point of both. I believe the entire game would need to be redone because the level of asymmetric gameplay and dynamism that I feel is needed isn't supported by the engine. Imperator is one of those things that you can keep piling features on top of but the core concept is rubbish, based on other popular GSGs without understanding why those systems worked in those games. Basically I can't imagine a way for the devs to build a system to, say, simulate the complexity of the Roman conquest of Gaul without basically replacing all the clunky existing systems. Although depth has been added Imperator is still about painting the map in painfully small incremental chips. It doesn't accurately reflect how empires or tribes functioned in the era and it isn't fun either to boot. Nobody wins.

@@shaddaboop7998 it is a great idea, no matter how you turn it, i know you want IR to work too... i understand why you said that.. its mostly true or irrelevant to me, but the way you speak of IR wont make PDX reconsider doing a VIC2-VIC3 style rebirth nor patching whats patchable in IR. (funny how humans work, but just putting a disclaimer infront of sthg that you really like the XXX will make them more succeptible to your idea... of completely redoing IR and relaunching it.)
