For a challenge, I tried surviving in a single forest cell in Project Zomboid with minimal gear and equipment from civilization. Can you obtain food, water and shelter here?

Me & my Brother had one of my favourite memories in gaming playing Project Zomboid. We toiled for days, walling off a base, clearing and burning the bodies, then spent ages on the farming... all we had were cabbage seeds, so we grew a ton of cabbages. We barely survived till harvest time - and finally did it - we harvested our first crop of cabbages... we had found tons of flour, and a lot of yeast - we could bake bread! This was it! We had secured a food source and thought we might make it through the winter. We made cabbage sandwiches - patted ourselves on the back for "a job well done" - and took a bite.... then immediately both of our characters got the "depressed" moodlet. Turns out we hated cabbage sandwiches.

Yeah, this is definitely a game better watched than played. The controls are incredibly clunky and the devs speak to players in the most toxic manner. Really, google EnigmaGrey, one of the developers, and judge his comments for yourself. I'd rather go without a game than give that sort of person any money. They see customers as marks.

@@anonymoususer4937 eh, I've been following the pz community for a while and the devs most certainly don't speak to players in a toxic manner from what I've noticed and, quite frankly, given how shitty and entitled people get with indie developers in general, I wouldn't blame them if they did (but I haven't really seen them doing that so :/). As a matter of fact, I did just google EnigmaGrey and judge his comments and they were completely reasonable and pretty funny from what I've seen. Controls are a personal preference, but they definitely haven't felt clunky to me at all.

@@anonymoususer4937 I think the controls (that are completely mappable) are quite intuitive once you get used to them. Worth mentioning is that while Thoreau lived in the woods to enjoy and experience nature, he lived within easy walking distance of Concord, MA, often going to town to visit those he knew, as well as entertaining guests - simple and deliberate living, rather than isolation. Yet in making this series, AA truly is living as Thoreau did - connecting with nature, but maintaining the connection with the community that he calls home, and in turn, the people who call him "friend."

Actually sort of make sense , to a point. A river is flowing water meaning that while it is not hyper safe to drink like purrified water, it still doesn't let bacteria grow and form biofilms and such. Once in a bottle, it becomes stagnant which means aml micro organism hae time to devellop and happilly multiply ina small co centration thus the micro organism concentration grows quickly. ... Of course the process should take hours if not days but y'know, video games

I made a Motte and Bailey out of the entirety of the riverside self storage place. The two center units I connected by the roof with flooring, then built up from there. 4 stories on top of the units. Log walled outside of the metal fence and connected by flooring, then the fencing to act as parapets. It was most glorious. The only thing lacking is the ability to make torches. The main floor was a sort of great hall, a feast hall, a hearth hall. It was part of a small community challenge of a base build, I did not finish my build, just the exterior. Filling it out with rooms and then filling those rooms with decorations was more than I had patience for.

Actually, I remember my high school English teacher told me Henry David Thoreau didn't actually spend all his time in the woods, he would regularly go into town to get drunk at the tavern, or have his mom do his laundry for him. I had also been romanticizing the wilderness a lot and that knowledge just sort of killed it.
