Can I Win As The Soviets In The 1939 Start Date? That's the challenge I'll be attempting today on HOI4 Hearts of Iron 4. It's going to be a tough one!

I actually tried that and it’s actually decently fun because if you do the focus which gives me cores on China if China capitulates Japan gives all of China to you. (The hardest nation in 1939 is menguko)

That's like every playthrough I see from every KZfaqr who does HOI4 lmao. It's always "I'd like to see the allies do something". Then they do nothing until you've depleted the enemy near completely lmao.

@@tglake2894 atleast they invaded Sicily though, you're lucky to have the allies do anything except maybe survive in Greece, like I just played a Soviet game where they only took Africa then did absolutely nothing until I capitulated Germany and Free France was established and only then they sent troops (still got pushed back by vichy though lmao)

17:57 Yeah this is incredibly fucking frustrating. Like, did Paradox not even test their own DLC content? Denmark declares war on Germany technically (instead of joining the existing war of the Allies or smth) which pulls in Japan, even against the Soviets. It was annoying me in Road to 56 before, when Finland would start the Continuation War and also pull Japan in. But that's a mod. The way Denmark is handled in the official DLC on historical AI is fucking baffling

Alex be like >Not building up an airforce/ CAS stockpile for a timing push >Not changing defensive infantry template to offensive ones (at least for one or two armies) >Not building medium tanks >Not making motorised or mechanised divisions Just one of these things would have won the war in 1944. Funny to see how semi-historical this is though (absent the IRL Soviet investment in overwhelming air and good tanks)

I formally challenged you to play as historical Dutch East Indies using "Hollandia Historica: East Indies Reworked" mod, fend off Japan, and win! Preferably going the "Improve Relations" branch as it's the hard historical one, but you can go "Challenge Elitism" too for a more politicking.

Germany is stronger on the 39 Scenario due to the fact that it starts with Blitzkrieg land doctrine instead of Mobile Infantry which makes things so different. Nowadays AI designs a lot better tanks as well.
