I embarked on a journey to Asia. With my shrinking resources I stayed mostly in the Philippines with a six-month plan for residency, but I had to carefully manage my expenses due to a limited budget. My concerns encompassed finding affordable accommodation, ensuring access to meals, addressing transportation, managing utility costs, securing healthcare options, and arranging for entertainment within my budget constraints. #expat #philippines #travel

You seem like a cool dude. I've been currently living in the Philippines for six months now. This is the most chill place on the planet for retirement. Many of the locals here often tell me that there are actual Filipinos darker than me, lol. So, I seem to fit right in without racism being an issue. That was the second leading reason I left the U.S. behind all the black on black violence. Hope you get back here soon, I know you enjoyed yourself while you were here.

Even 600$ to 800$ you can live your life in the Philippines, all you need is just cook your food, get public transportation, get promo internet data..make friends with local Filipinos and I will tell you ,you can live your life without being stress.

@@Kitiwake if you're living way out in the province on a very low budget then yes maybe but not the entire country as a whole .. i spend most of my time in the cities and live very comfortably .. but maybe you were indeed just making reference to province life ..

We lived on 800 a month in he Philippines from 2017 to 2020, that didn't include building our house there. We lived in our house a year while building it, then 2 Years in Dumaguete. A note regarding Social Security, I didn't collect SS until returning to the states and I resumed working. My SS is 1205 now, but will go up due to working and bumping off some lower earning years AND I'm earning a lot more hourly plus working OT, I plan on returning to the Philippines

We spent about 25K, but the land was already in the family. My wife started the house spending about 6,000 and her Nanay and Son moved in (30 Y/O) I spent 19,000 having to have some of the work my wife had done repaired and I also added a huge 3rd bedroom and a bigger kitchen. Our house is in my wife's province in Mindanao and it was way too boring so we moved to Dumaguete and I loved it there I'd not rush to build though, my house is intended for my wife to retire to as she is 11 years younger than I. Renting is good because you can move if problems arise and you will probably not be able to sell for what you put into building. I'd say 20K plus land will get you a very modest home though.@@stedye
