The term “fighting fire with fire” comes from the concept of “if you already burn something, it cannot be burned.” So you can make firebreaks to keep fire from spreading.

@@henryc2601 Not exactly, he is still loyal even though he was officially declared a heretic. However he uses a Demon called Cherubael and he uses Enuncia to control him. I also really recommend the Bequin Novels (also from Dan Abnett), they explore it a bit further. (sorry for my English , its not my native language) :D

That would mean Chaos is everywhere in the warp just like salt in the ocean which just not true. There are clearly part of the warp that’s not tainted by Chaos. Better metaphor would be The Warp is a huge constant flowing pool and chaos are those assholes who takes a piss in the pool but you can clearly see their piss because the pool was dyed to reveal piss so your have like piss clouds in the pool but the pool in constantly flowing and changing so eventually the piss will be washed away but then these assholes got a kidney problem so they just keep pissing therefore creating piss clouds again thus the only way to truly keep the pool clean is by getting rid of these assholes out of the pool.

"Dont see firefighters walking around with flame throwers." Wildland firefighters literally carry around drip torches which sling flame 13 feet in all directions to specifically fight fire with fire. Then they walk around in the embers.

I can't remember if it's 1st or 2nd Edition, but the Dark Heresy Tabletop RPG has a background option that lets you play as an acolyte who volunteered to be Daemon Hosted, and then exorcised by a priest. Thus making you extremely resistant to warp fuckery in the future, but at the cost of a fair bit of physical and psychological damage in the long term.

For most agents of the throne, using chaos to fight chaos really comes down to a cost-benefit analysis. It is almost impossible to use deamons and the more fucked-up chaos shit long-term without being corrupted. If you are a psyker, a mentally healthy one at least, using just regular sorcery is probably fine. It's just a multiplier of your powers, nothing more. Anything beyond that though inevitably becomes a question of doing more good than harm before you fall, and making sure one has uncorrupted associates who are ready to step in and BLAM you once you go too far.

What ever happens I do not think it will help. The warp is made out of an esoteric energy and black holes only consume regular matter and energy to our knowledge.

Well vortex weapons are essentially synthetic black holes. And somehow for some reason vortex weapons transport objects into the warp. Meaning that black holes may or may not do that.

Gregor, while currently a renegade "inquisitor", is still a loyal servant of the emperor, knowledge/exposure to some language called enuncia may have something to do with this. There's also a grey knight with a demon sword that requires him to feel almost no emotion to use without corruption.

Dont know how majorkill says that it doesnt affect eisenhorn when in the book gregor says multiple times that it does infact him and he feels it. He always keeps the book at his side and doesnt give it to the inquisition. Heck after book 2 he created a demon host for no appearend reason and locked it up in his basement.

Considering that the Grey Knights use Chaos to fight against Chaos, yeah loyalists could in theory use it, but in practice mortals and several other space marines will become corrupt if they so much as look at a Chaos relic the wrong way.

Psychic powers are not chaos though, that's what he starts out explaining. Grey Knights do not use Chaos any more than a Farseer does, they just use the power of the raw Warp. Sorcery, demonic weapons, demonic pacts, summoning of demons - that is using chaos.

7:30 I think all 3 are correct. Especially fenris blocking magic, I think there was a minor warp god that was created by the people of fenris. It was a wolf god that was resistant to the elements and also in spirit. That minor god was then shoved in russ. It makes sense, the rune priest are always talking about how their magic comes from the planet and not the warp.

Some fire fighters use incendiary devices that are similar to “grenades.” You throw the device into a flame and it either breaks or releases its fuel into area. The fuel burns hotter and faster than the fire around it, burning away all the oxygen and putting out both fires. I don’t know how widely used they are, I just know they were being looked at a few years ago, back when I was young.

In fact, firefighting does use fire to create buffer burnt zones in forest fires, so this zones don't catch fire again. Yes, they use flamethrowers.

Eisenhorn was being corrupted (haven't read any of the series past the Ravenor trilogy myself) but being corrupted and having been corrupted aren't the same thing. He did some great things but it always ends in a bad place unless something ends you early.

There was also the Tuchulcha engine which the Lion used in the Horus Hear-say to end the Thramas Crusade (effectively destroying the Night Lords as a single Legion), get to Macragge (Finds out Big E is alive after Vietnaming the North of Macragge) and then proceed to do fuck all with it.

If you're willing to include the games, Captain Titus used the Power Source, a battery of Warp energy, to supercharge the Titan Invictus in order to destroy the Orbital Spire of Forge World Graia, which had been transformed into a Warp portal in order to bring forth a Chaos invasion. Captain Titus proved to be completely incorruptible.

0:00 actually putting out fire with fire is very good way, you burn a ring of fire around the major fire you want put out, and if you make sure the ring of fire does not spread, eventually the fuel for the bigger fire is burned away and cannot spread eventually starving to death.

Certain times firefighters do fight fire with fire. It's called backfires in forestry. Basically the start a fire to where the oncoming fire has no fuel to burn. Similar in idea to a firebreak.

fight fire with fire is in reference to fire-power, as in guns with guns. however fire fighters do actually use fire to fight fires, usually when fighting forest fires they'll burn part ahead of the fire to prevent the larger flame from using it as fuel and to slow the inferno.

Some (not useful for your case) synonyms for Chaos: The Primordial Annihilator, The Primordial Truth. Terms used by the Eldar and the Word Bearers, respectively. And just for fun, synonyms for the warp: The Impyrean, The Immatereum, Sea of Souls, Realm of Chaos Gregor Eisenhorn does definitely question whether or not he is being or has been corrupted, I believe stemming all the way back to when he took out the Chaos titan. But that means that he probably isn't corrupted, or at least not very much so. In the Ravenor series though it is implied that he is quite corrupted and he is basically a fugitive from the Inquisition. But it is left up to mystery and the only time he shows up he warns Ravenor about the future birth of a demon so personally I kinda feel like he is still mostly uncorrupted. Looking forward to reading the Bequin series next.

I still love Grey Knights, but I do seem to recall one of their characters wielding a legi Daemon sword. I think he refrained from invoking its powers, and mostly just carried it around, letting his Grey Knights hax allow him to resist falling to its control, but he used to be a thing, if not still.

AKSHUALLY firefighter DO use fire to fight fire sometimes. I'm surprised an Aussie doesn't know that, since it is common to rob wildfires of their fuel by burning off the shrubbery in its bath in a controlled fashion. Also: You forgot Castellan Crowe.

Actually you do see firefighters with drip torches, burning off all of the flammable material in advance so that if a large uncontrollable fire comes through, it finds nothing to burn.

Fun fact, fire fighters do actually fight fires with fires during wildfires. Using a controlled burn, u burn out a line so the fire wouldn’t have any extra fuel to.burn so it burns itself out before expanding even more

So was the Aral Sea. Really a Sea can be large Lake if so named, much as the Great Lakes in America were to be called seas, but the map makers thought differently of it. The Dead Sea is a sea, which is also aided by being salt water. Or is it "water salt" at this point?

There was a video by another that looked into this theory with Grimnar. He protected the people of Fenris 100% until he got his axe. After a choas invasion allowed those Fenrisions who had witnessed chaos to be culled by the Imperium. (edit) This dropped their supply of future marines in an insane way as the whole planet was attacked. Lucky for the wolves they ended up with Primirous (?) marines' later.

In the case of forest fires, sometimes, fire is fought with fire! Controlled burns of large sections of a forest may be initiated to cut off the supply of fuel to a much larger, much more dangerous fire!

The term comes from firefighters who fight forest fires. They strategically burn a section of forest so when the forest fire gets there, it burns itself out.

'Counter fires/Backburns' are often used to control massive fires, and at high-enough temperatures water dumped onto a fire will actually evaporate into it's component parts and the oxygen in the water will fuel the fire. Crazy stuff.

Best part of this video is that flamethrowers are literally the most used item of firefighters by a pretty large margin. But an Aussie wouldn't know that considering they don't know they are literally slaves to their government without realizing it 🤣

the saying fight fire with fire does hold some literal merit if you look at it in some slightly different ways. using controlled fires to burn out certain areas before a large fire either gets to it, or even starts is a good way of containing it, as a fire cannot burn what has already been burnt.

back-burning is used all the time to fight wildland fires. Its a burned-out area creating a buffer zone where the wildfire would be starved of fuel and cannot pass. A fire break.

Forest Fire Fighters actually do controlled burns before fire season hits. It gets some of the dead dry stuff out of there and it creates a barrier of death that a wild fire will have problems crossing iirc.

0:12 there actually is a technique of fighting fire with fire sometimes firefighters create smaller fires to burn out grasses or trees in controlled way while fighting a giant forest fires. The purpose is to use smaller fire to create land without fuel for bigger one so it will die out.

Back when I still played properly (3rd to late 4th edition) there was a chapter who used daemonic weapons to battle chaos and could take things like daemon weapons from the chaos wargear list. This was mainly represently by weapons that you'd have to roll for each turn and on a 1 you'd have to pass leadership test or the bearer would suffer a wound with or without a saving throw.
