You know in norse mythology Mjolnir is just really fucking heavy instead having to be worthy to wield it

In the ultimate comics thors hammers doesn't have the magic spell that makes it a requirement to be worthy to wield it. Its just really heavy in the Ultimate universe and has no magic spell bonded to it

I'm sure in some comics magneto would definitely be worthy. Considering how the Asgardians act he wouldn't be far off. Protecting his people. Being a warrior. Being a leader. Compassion for his people. He's only a villain to humans who have made themselves the villains to mutant kind.

He could probably manipulate it, but he isnt technically wielding it, so its probably just a very very heavy hammer he can move around at will. Still useful i guess

Honestly Magneto can move or lift Mjolnir using his powers but he can't really use Thor's powers. so basically it's just him lifting an extremely heavy chunk of metal and throw it at someone or just simply using it as a hand held weapon.

Respectfully, Magneto’s intentions are pure. Objectively he’s a bad guy. But in his mind i don’t think he considers himself a villain. He’s more of a freedom fighter in his mind. A philosopher warrior. Fighting for an ideal he believes will benefit his people. I think he should be able to wield it.

I think it is worth pointing out that in that old 616 comic, Thor still walked through everything Magneto threw at him with physical strength and durability alone.

It's almost like the same situation that he had with rogue in Age of Apocalypse. He's the only person that can touch her. But at the same time he's not REALLY touching her. His power grants him the ability to create a super thin layer of electromagnetism between him and her. In order for him to be able to hold her and eventually have a kid. I'm assuming it would be the same way for him and Thors hammer.

Tony Stark and Captain America resolved this discussion in Age of Ultron - in the fact that an elevator can technically lift Thor's hammer and yet not be worthy. Magneto's powers can lift the hammer in the same way the elevator can.

I'll always love in Fear Itself when Juggernaut got his own uru hammer and threw it at Magneto. Mags started gloating about how foolish it was to attack him with metal, then looked horrified when he realized his powers weren't working on it, only being saved at the last moment by Shadowcat phasing him so he wouldn't get hit. He realized that, just like Juggernaut, the hammer was Unstoppable

Honestly, Mags using Mjolnir is up there for scenarios I'd love to see, but likely won't happen. Up there with Carnage getting OG Juggernaut powers, including the speed/momentum stealing force field that also makes him immune to harm.

I mean when you think about it, there's no reason Magneto shouldn't be able to pick it up. He meets all the requirements and matches quite a bit of Thor's personality and the qualities of a Norse hero.

The answer is he can't lift it but move it with his powers however Thor can over power that as he already did with his own control over Mjolnir

I'd figure Magneto can be worthy. He has became good at times. His level of commitment to defend and protect all mutant kind can be on the level of Thor's to protect Asgard.

He would also theoretically be capable of controlling electricity, as it is directly tied to magnetism.

Moving the hammer and wielding it aren't the same thing; there are plenty of ways to skirt around the enchantment: Odin can outright lift the worthiness spell from Mjolnir, Magneto uses magnetism to manipulate it, Red Hulk could hold it while in zero gravity, etc. Alternatively, Mjolnir itself has been known to lift its own worthiness restriction in dire circumstances: During the *JLA/Avengers* crossover, Superman was able to briefly hold the hammer to batter down an obstacle between the heroes and the villain, though was later unable to lift it. Thor explained that Mjolnir allowed Supes to do so as the entirety of the Marvel/DC multiverses were at stake. But at the end of the end of the day only those deemed worthy can lift the hammer AND harness its power.

Magneto is worthy. He hasn’t done anything that anyone else wouldn’t have done to protect their own. That’s makes him extremely noble because he is willing to do what it takes to achieve that goal. It’s like when people say we shouldn’t have wars but we have wars to kill people so you have that right to say that. Worthiness is based on the culture that you are a part of. That’s why the enchantment of Thor’s hammer makes no sense whatsoever
