Can Midjourney AI Design a Physical Product?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) art is a growing area of interest for new artists who are interested in developing computationally created show pieces. It takes a lot of trial and error to come up with the right prompts for an AI engine to create the intended piece.
Today, we're going to see if we can get Midjourney's AI bot to design a physical product and replicate it in real life using a laser cutter.

Tim!! You're the 1st person I know of to make something real directly from midjourney!!!! Epic. Didn't think about just live tracing in illustrator like that. Next step is 3D forms 😅 did you try V4 yet? It's incredible

Thanks!! The art that comes out of Midjourney looks really cool, so it was fun to turn it into something real. I haven't tried V4, but I'm slowly learning when I can!

Thank you! It depends which software you’re using. If you have Illustrator, you can use the trace tool. I had to modify the pattern after it was extracted so it would fit the size and restrictions of my laser

Hey there! Are you asking if I can share the prompt for this specific project? If so, sure! It’s “stunning wood table lamp made with a laser cutter”. Nothing specific for this project. You can introduce specific terms to it for a different result

Good point. I would’ve made it bigger but my laser cutter only goes up to a specific size for each panel. Then it also gets difficult to proportion it with the small candle light it was designed for. Love the suggestion!

1:18 45mins with how many watt machine? Sadly not what AI constructed, as AI is not smart enough to check, what is to narrow for the laser and what will work.

It’s a standard laser cutting machine (45 watts) and yes it’s not exactly what AI constructed.
