Is Multiple Sclerosis a disease brought on by head and neck trauma?
In the paper titled “The possible role of cranio-cervical trauma and abnormal CSF Hydrodynamics in the genesis of Multiple Sclerosis”, Dr. Raymond Damadian (the inventor of MRI and UPRIGHT MRI) discusses findings in 8 diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients that were chosen at random. So lets rewind just a second as the traditional understanding of MS is described as an auto-immune disease of unknown origin. From my ten years in practice, as well as all the other Chiropractic papers I have read, almost every patient I have ever talked to with MS has had severe head and neck trauma. This trauma is usually via whiplash in some sort of motor vehicle accident or sports injury. So when Ray Damadian showed in this paper that MS may be a structural issue and not some unknown, idiopathic disease, it made total sense to me as an Upper Cervical Chiropractor. His research matched and validated my observations in practice. So what that means is that MS can be helped by correcting the structural alignment of the cervical spine! This made me want to shout it from the rooftops and let every Neurologist out there that diagnoses and treats MS know this information, as it could save lives and prevent others from undergoing years of needless suffering and medication.
So if you know of someone suffering from MS let them know that Upper Cervical Chiropractic may be able to help. To find out more call our office at 603.380.9184
So what prompted Dr. Damadian to do this study? Well, he had been working with Dr. Scott Rosa, a mentor of ours in New York, on developing imaging techniques using UPRIGHT MRI to visualize the Upper Cervical misalignment and the changes pre and post adjustment. What was interesting was that they found that Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow actually moves better after an Upper Cervical correction. Then they looked deeper and found that CSF changes were happening at areas of restriction in the soft tissue of the brain as well as in the cervical spine. So then they started thinking about who might have changes more visibly, and low and behold MS patients have lesions that show up on the brain and in the cervical spine. When Dr. Damadian started investigating what might be causing those lesions, they concluded from this paper that the lesions would show up around areas of high pressure and consistently around the ventricles where the CSF is created and pumped out into the brain. When the fluid balanced after Upper Cervical corrections, the lesions were reduced.
You may be wondering why this information doesn't seem to be widely know. The problem is this research is very hard to do and very time consuming. The vast majority of papers on MS never discuss a trauma component and never link the problem to one that can be corrected by Upper Cervical Chiropractic care. It is a shift in how MS is typically understood and treated. So that’s why I am talking about this topic today, to get the word out there and to share Dr. Damadian's and Dr. Rosa's research. If you or someone you know suffers from the symptoms of MS, call our office to find out more about how drug free Upper Cervical Chiropractic care can reduce the problem that causes Multiple Sclerosis and its associated symptoms.

I had a car accident, we were hit head on by a drunk driver, I was thrown out of the car and my sister had to be cut out of the car. I suffered severe head and neck trauma, I was 17 years old. I'm 58 years old now and I've been diagnosed with MS. I had always wondered if the car accidents had something to do with it, but my doctors laugh my theory off. Thank you for bringing this up , I know I'm not the only one thinking this, I'm not crazy.

I grew up on a farm, fell out of trees, fell off back of a tractor, was passenger in a bad roll over car crash. Been going to chiro for 20+ years and my c1-2 are fused together somehow. Diagnosed with MS in 2014.

I was hit head on about 7 years ago, and 2 months later, all of my problems started. I got diagnosed with ms 3 years ago. None of the doctors I have seen have asked about any traumas I have had... I had to tell them about it. they just brushed it off, like it had nothing to do with the ms! They just wanted to get me on medication.

This was an amazing presentation, in layman’s terms. I am researching and trying to get to the root of a family member’s medical mystery. Doctor’s didn’t seem to take me seriously. After 2 years, I’m finally spelling out the connections and getting them to consider MS and make a neurology referral.

The concept your illustrating in this video is more than plausible and quite logical. The information corresponds with how our body functions from an anatomical and physiological perspective. I had been diagnosed with a severe panic and anxiety disorder at the age of 8. I ate an improper diet, my parents had me fully vaccinated (big issue), and I did not receive chiropractic treatments. By 23 I was debilitated. I could not work and had symptoms of brain fog, lethargy, panic, hopelessness, among other issues. I did, however, exercise using a resistance training regimen. I did this because it was the only thing that brought me a few hours of relief. Now I am 36, I've been getting regular once a week adjustment for the last 7 years, 2 adjustments weekly 2 years prior, and 3-4 for the first 4 years. I never experience brain fog, panic, anxiety, feelings of sadness or despair, and I am happier than I have ever been. I was tested for heavy metals, I eat semi-properly, I still exercise 3 times per week, and my immune system functions optimally. For all who are skeptical, corrective chiropractic treatment can remedy much. Best of luck everyone!

Thank you for this! I have struggled with atlas subluxation and general cervical spine issues due to various random injuries since childhood, but only got diagnosed/adjusted about 3 years ago despite debilitating neck pain that has severely impacted my life. But even with my best efforts with my chiropractor, physical therapy, supplements, daily pain management routines, and lifestyle changes to try to heal my spine, I still have so many problems that knock me on my butt. For nearly 10 years (my entire 20's!) I've had flare ups that cause overwhelming pain, fatigue, blurry vision, weakness, spasms, numbness, tingling, hallucinations, etc. I have a some autoimmune diagnoses (ulcerative colitis, narcolepsy w/o cataplexy, fibromyaglia, myalgic encephalomyelitis) that I do believe are correct but I've felt like something is missing. I finally talked to a neuro about this (again, except this time found one who listened to me) and it's taking a long, long time to go through all the hoops to get my brain and spine MRIs, but I hope to get some answers soon. I will refer to this video again when I get my new neurologist and hopefully it'll help us get to the bottom of this. Thank you again.

Agreed, that is possible. I had the burning, tinggling pain.went to the chiropractor .they said need align my neck bone cause is out of alignment and compressing some nerves. Once the alignment is done.I am no longer have the burning pain but the tinggling needle pain still occurs once a while.

I have MS but have not had severe head or neck trauma. To me it sounds like coincidence. I think there are many possible causes of MS but no one has been able to point the finger at any particular one. All I know is once you have it you have it for life.

My mind is all 🧨💥 I have C2-4 MS diag and now I have DDD of C4-7! I never had ‘trauma’ but my previous Chiro would crack my neck (2-4 years worth) and I always suspected that was cause of MS/Spine problems…no proof tho. But every time he cracked my neck I always better!
