Let’s see! Two versions here, one is a poor fame seeker that gambles to get money, the other one is the most disciplined player in baseball history, with the biggest contract in sport history, who trains 8 hours a day and make 65 million dollars just from endorsements, that person will gamble just to earn a little bit more money in illegal gambling and knowing that he can lose 700 millions dollar contract, and you guys believe the other guy, amazing!

Someone is lying. The original story was the best. An interpreter went on a gambling binge and Ohtani bailed him out as any friend would do to the tune of $4.5 million. There are no Ohtani fingerprints at the scene and, in fact, no crime scene at all.

Much more likely that Ippei stole from Shohei.

@trevorcarey3997 2 ай бұрын
There's nothing that proves Shohei is guilty of anything, he did'nt sign any check to make payments and the wire transfer were done by electronic, which Ippei had access to. People got to understand there's clients employer's and workers that embezzle and steal money from wealthy owner's all the time. Especially when a person is desperate and is in debt from grambling like Ippei, will betray his friendship and steal money (I know my own brother was addicted to gambling and would steal from our parents bank account by forging their signature) Some of the clients and associates that robbed and stole money from athletes and celebrities - Tim Duncan was robbed $20 million dollars, John Elway lost $15 million, Kareem Abul Jabbar lost $9 million, Kevin Garnett lost $78 million, Usain Bolt lost $12 million, Robert DeNiro lost $88 million dollars, Elton John lost $29 million, Billy Joel $90 million ect......All by clients, associates and even close partners.

Explain the two stories? What happened between story #1 that says Ohtani was paying off Ippei’s gambling debt, and then story #2 that says he stole the money. What compels Ippei to all of a sudden start to tell the truth? He was a thief and a liar according to Ohtani. Why would he all of a sudden 12 hours later have a change of heart-unless he was the fall guy. And if he is the fall guy, then what is he protecting Ohtani from? This change in story is where the truth can be found. Plus there is nothing out there that even tells us that Ippei has been arrested or is being investigated.

@Dutch_Rudder
@Dutch_Rudder 2 ай бұрын
Were they all still friends, no big deal? Or did they try their damndest to get their money back and prosecute the thieves? This is very different because it’s gambling against Shohei on his worst games (from what I’ve heard), not just a simple theft. Anyone that close to a professional athlete gambling in the millions is always shady. Gambling is illegal where they are from and in California, this isn’t some addiction the guy has, that’s BS.

They were so tight and Ohtani didn’t know his boy liked to gamble? No one is going to give access to their bank roll knowing they love to gamble. And as far as Ohtani not knowing how much money was involved with his own bank account is foolish! Ohtani was deeply involved in his contract with the Dodgers about numbers and payments and he had no idea of being ripped off??? Check out his pitching stats for 23. He can dominate a Dodgers lineup but get shelled by the pirates? Funny how the payout was huge for Pittsburgh scoring enough runs to meet the spread…

If Ohtani says he stole the money then that's theft. Because it involved an Illegal bookie it has to go to law enforcement. If the Bank allowed the transfer without Ohtani's knowledge then it's on the bank to answer why!. This is theft and wire fraud and the law should be involved, PERIOD! I've done wire transfers to a friend who needed help to replace his home heating system. It was for $7000 and I had to go to the bank and show ID and sign for it.

Ohtani never addressed why the story changed! I mean, Ippei was originally given permission to talk to ESPN because of the hit piece that was about to be published. Then after they find out what was about to be published the story changes? There is no incentive for Ippei to all of a sudden have a change of heart and tell the truth unless he is the fall guy because Ohtani bailed his friend out.
