There's a video on KZfaq What Makes This Song So Great ( More Than A Feeling ) you should check out. It breaks down how the song was recorded and that's all I'm saying. In all the interviews I've watched Tom always stated that he was an engineer first but if you watch the the live concert on KZfaq ( 70's) his face tells a different story. Happy New Year!

My favorite 70s band. When I was in college, the dorm was full of disco. My room was full of BOSTON. Great concerts. I saw the just before Brad died in early 2000s. Best flipping concert... and I been to them all. When you pay $100+ for a seat and stand, singing along for 3 hours, it’s a great concert! More please. Their first album is perfection. ❤️ BTW.... Atari, Space Invaders! Yes they are from Boston.

I remember when I first heard this timeless classic. I was around 5 or so and my dad had the cassette playing in his shop. My brothers and I were running around with our friends and I heard that roaring guitar and the echo of Brad Delps voice. I was instantly hooked. Loved this band ever since. And I heard this song in Madagascar when the Penguins steal the tourist car. And yes, they are from Boston.

There are some things that are the top of the chart of beautiful. 1 - your wife on your wedding day 2 - a newborn baby asleep in your arms, 3 - a beautiful woman headbanging to great rock music! Loved your reaction to this song - a staplepoint of any good rock music library. You just haven't discovered yet enough just how dam good this band was - and this album specifically. Every single song on that album was a hit and had radioplay EVERY song. Its among the top selling albums of all time list - and this was their DEBUT album. Never before heard or known, from jumpstreet these guys were stars with these songs. You can't find a bad song on this first two albums for sure. But most love: Peace of Mind, and Foreplay/Longtime as their favorites. Rock and Roll Band and Smoking are both fantastic with a little more pep in them. Yes they're from Boston.

Guys! I watch a lot of your reactions. I was completely and happily shocked when I saw you were doing "Boston"! This song was released in '76, and I was in my last year of high school (18 yrs old). I had a Camaro, and I flat wore this song out! I played it on an 8-track player (Yep! I said 8-track!), and installed 6 speakers in the car, JUST FOR THIS SONG! It was the hottest, loudest song there was then! Girls rode with me every day, at lunch, so we could "jam" to this song! HUGE memories!

I was 8 when this album came out. The only music I had ever heard was country and gospel. I was walking by my older sisters bedroom, and she had this song playing on her record player. I was mesmerized. I stopped to listen, and she slammed the door and locked it. Lol so here I am, on the ground, my ear up against the bottom of the door frame, in absolute music heaven. It changed my life, and til the day I leave earth, it always will be my favorite.

Boston's sound was ahead of it's time. Tom Scholz, the founder of the band, is an MIT graduate and developed Boston's first album in his basement! He is one of the lead guitarist and created most of the instrumentals on the 1976 debut album...he had pretty much completed the album and then the bandmates were chosen afterwards!! Lead vocals was the late, great Brad Delp.

Not bad from a graduated genius from MIT that recorded every instrument in his basement on equipment he made and put together. The only thing he didn't do was sing and play drum. Actually when the record label signed them and album exploded they had to rush to find band members to go on tour. My best friend in 6th grade Tori Boston introduced me to this awesomeness at her sleepover birthday party. Y'all need to do (if not already) Foreplay/Longtime off this album. Sorry so long 🤷💗

Nope. This was true for the demo tapes; for the album Sib Hashian played drums on all songs except "Rock & Roll Band" (played by Jim Masdea), Barry Goudreau played rhythm guitar on all songs and lead guitar on "Long Time" and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight", Fran Sheehan played bass on "Foreplay" and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight", and Brad Delp played acoustic guitar on "Let Me Take You Home Tonight". This is all from the liner notes on the 2006 remaster which Scholz oversaw.

I don't know if you all have been reading all of the other comments, but a few of them have told the story of the recording of this song and the whole album.I cannot understate how amazing I think that is.Every time I hear any of the songs from this album it amazes me even more. The whole album is fantastic. It is one of (if not the) best selling debut albums of all time. And,again,it began with an MIT graduate building all of the recording system and amps and all of the things that are required to record an album in his basement!!! Then he writes all of the songs and plays all of the instruments, except drums, himself. And I don't know where he found the singer (Brad Delp, rip), but he has one of the best voices in the business. The time it must have taken to record each instrument separately and put them all together ( for every song on the album) and produce it all into the amazing songs on that album. It boggles the mind.

Tom Scholz's story reminds me of the character Bruno in the 1980 version of "Fame" when his father blocked traffic in front of the school to play his son's composition "Fame." Multi-talented who did the composing and tracks by himself. So did Prince early on, come to think of it kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqxkg5d4yN3HoKc.html

The bass player, Fran Sheehan, was the only original member that had formal training in music.

Not to mention the fact that Tom did it in a homemade studio in his basement and designed the sound effects pedals for the guitars.
