Syril’s whole fussing over his being a brown shirt/suit is such a fun exchange. And, same, I’m totally behind Dedra and her supportive assistant. This show is great at showing the ramifications for political machinations/rebellion trickling down to all of the oppressed civilians.

Mon Mothma was on Yavin 4 in Rogue One. Her departure from the Senate is seen in Rebels, season 3. She is in command of the Rebellion by Season 4. Luthen’ s assistant, Kleya, is listed as his “master of disguise” in various promotional material, so her disguised journey here fits the role. The ISB supervisor speechifying in the beginning is Colonel Yularen, formerly a Republic Admiral during the clone wars that worked mostly with Anakin; in Rebels he is an ISB leader that works with Thrawn This show has so smartly held back on stormtroopers and Star Destroyers, dropping them only after Aldhani to reinforce how seriously the Empire is reacting. Brilliant work.

@@jessaandalexwatch we could still see it next season in some form ! Rebels showed us the space part of the escape; maybe we get the ground part of it. She did voice the character on Rebels! Heck, just do he entire episode in live action with Andor’s excellent production quality, no ones complaining

I agree about slowly doling out stormtroopers. This show has excellent pacing.

And another interesting detail about the stormtroopers they do include appears during the flashback to Clem's death on Ferrix. The stormtroopers there are actually clone troopers who hadn't been phased out yet and were still serving as the first generation of stormtroopers (as evidenced by the fact that they are wearing Phase II clone armor).

Mon Mothma's party dress is a SLAYYYYYY! (All of her clothes are, but I like to think she was thinking of Padmé when she picked that one out.) Also when Cassian came home to Maarva and B2 he petted B2 like a dog... 🥺 nothing better happen to that droid

Great to see some love for Fiona Shaw's scene in this episode. It was so subtly powerful. Proud of Marva for counting the cost and dealing with her attachment to this son while still knowing her purpose beyond that. You could see the loss here and when Cassian fled in episode 3. But she came back and found real agency in this moment. She was totally the hero here, and by contrast showed how unformed Cassian still is at this point.

I heard this episode was referred to as transitionary, not stand alone. And that the next 2 would be another arc, and the last 3 are the last arc.

Mon at this point in time is still caught between wanting to change the Empire within and fully committing to the insurgency. A lot of the Senators and local leaders that are in the rebellion don't actually want a full on war. They want to use the rebellion as a show of force to get the Empire to come to the table and actually negotiate. A lot of the leaders in the Rebel Council you see in Rogue One are unwilling to attack the Death Star because they don't think war is feasible and they never wanted full scale war to begin with. The problem is that you can't use the tools of the old Republic to change the Empire from within. It's too powerful and wide spread and it can't be changed. it needs to be toppled with force.

Why aren't Jedi mentioned or clones like rex or even used by the rebel council

@@preciousotoakhia9789 Most Jedi are dead, all the others are in hiding. And the Jedi hadn't been fully known or trusted by most of the population anyway. The clones still alive are alone and unorganized. Rex is in hiding, but we see him fighting with the rebels on Endor in Return of the Jedi.

You guys are the best. I'm *obsessed* with Andor and have watched sooo many reaction series, but yours are my favourite. You see Andor just the way I see it and you're an absolute riot too. Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I really enjoyed various parts of this episode, especially Mothma's moments, I understand wanting to provoke the Empire to do its worst, I feel the same about the UK government, I dare them to do the worst and be the most corrupt they can, it'll only benefit us in terms of support! Be safe ladies :)

I think they made Dedra very carefully to -be- uncomfortably likable at least for a while. So much of the shows core seems to be about the efficient, mundane, just doing their job well bureaucracy underlying the brutal fascism of the Empire.
