I wish I had a doctor like you!! As everyone else I thank you for being different and caring about your patients. Been an addict since I was 11 years old, I'm 40 now. Quite frankly, I feel like a piece of crap for being an addict. I want to change my life and be sober so bad but I'm not ready to suffer so intensely physically or mentally and so I never move forward. I haven't seen a doctor since 2017, I've just given up completely that they could ever help me.

Lastly, NICOLE!!!! YOU DID GREAT AND I LOVE YOU FOR ALL YOU DO. I AM SO GLAD YOU AREN'T LETTING ANYTHING OR ANYONE HOLD YOU BACK OR KEEP YOU FROM GROWING AND DOING WHAT YOU LOVE...KEEP ON BEING TRANSPARENT AND REAL, THOSE WHO DON'T WILL STAY SICK UNFORTUNATELY AND WE CAN ONLY KEEP OURSELVES IN CHECK AT THE END OF THE DAY. @@DrBAddictionRecoverymake a video about drug replacement therapy or similar using pharmaceutical grade diacetylmorphine "heroin". As it shows to be very promising in the UK and elsewhere in the world where it can be legally used to treat addiction or dependence. And the patients do not require insane lengths of time to taper off to quit because of the half life.

My friend Savannah got out of jail for drug possession and shed gone in in summer wearing shorts and a tank top and was released in 30 degree weather. She wasnt even wearing shoes. Her mother refused to even throw her jacket out in the yard for her to pick up. She died a few weeks later by overdosing on heroin. She just wanted to not feel cold.
@Saltynutz333
@Saltynutz333 11 ай бұрын
If that’s true, her mother should be ashamed of herself as that’s her blood and guts (daughter) and not even giving her late daughter a jacket in freezing conditions. It just shows the ignorance this mother has and her daughter at that point had no support network to help her get into treatment. I’m fighting my hell with my fentanyl addiction for 2 years now along with meth. Literally, I want to quit but the withdrawals are painful and Suboxone will not work because along the way, I will get urges to smoke and use again. I would rather get a shot like Sublocade. I smoke about 20-30 fentanyl M30 tabs a day. I spend all my money on dope and I hate it. I hate myself and I do feel hopeless very often after I lost my mother who passed away in 2022 from having Stage 5 Parkinson’s and I was her caregiver and watching her die in front in me destroy everything in me. That’s why I just numb myself with drugs. I have no real friends or family left so I have nothing to live for anymore. 😞😞

Its crazy how addiction even is somehow tolerated and okay if you can be addicted and financially stable… . If I had never ending money, I would definitly never quit probably lol. The worst troubles come with being broke and getting criminal. Health is the second thing that declines but if you get good quality and can buy bulk to avoid overdosing on every new batch 10 times a day, you can take a lot of most drugs, ecspecially opioids and even get old and stay healthy. Its probably even harder to quit when you can afford it and not have to do such suicidal activities and start shooting up to make the most of every dollar that youve spent on drugs.

This was BY FAR the BEST & most REALISTIC video on addiction I’ve ever seen on KZfaq & I watch so many bc I still struggle with my disease everyday & am so tired of being judged and shut down by doctors and rehabs etc. it’s time to seriously listen to patients without judgement. The fact u would even make this video. God bless u, when a church doesn’t let sinners in, it kind of defeats the purpose , Im tired, I never get high, I just can’t keep trying with duel diagnoses, asbestos poisoning from my work, and it seems like in America u can do anything and be dealt with, but addicts one relapse society wants u out, maybe why 25% of Americans on illegal something’s can’t work, even making things illegal, the first step becomes deception, I thank u more than u could know for bringing it up. Id give anything to have had a Dr like you. I wish there was one available in my area. Ive lost FOURTY THREE of my loved ones in the last ten years. 17 this year alone and the majority of "treatment" here doesnt allow MAT of any kind, doesn't offer any form of evidence based treatment, and even those that do have a very cookie cutter approach that applies to everyone. Im about to graduate from outpatient treatment where i recieve suboxone and when i do, ill be tapered off 16mg per day in 10 days. I was told last week that ill graduating September 6th and that they will do a ten day taper.
@FFeliXX12
@FFeliXX12 10 ай бұрын
Good lord, tapering off in 10 days is fucking horrible. You might as well quit cold turkey on heroin 😭 Quittin MAT in such a short time is the best recipie for relapse. Its just stupid. I quit benzos and Suboxone within 4 weeks one time due to a bad treatment center here in my area and it did nothing but getting me to believe that I would never be able to get sober because the withdrawals are so horrible. I relapsed as soon as I got out, then quit again 2 weeks later and then i collapsed randomly 3 days later somewhere in the city because I couldnt sleep for so long and my body couldnt handle both withdrawals from the benzos and heroin and the insomnia. Now Im on methadone and was able to quit benzos. I never thought it was possible and I thought killing myself was the only way I can get out of this cycle. All these bad doctors and treatment centers should quit instead of doing everything wrong and making the addicts believe that they are worth nothing and will never be able to sober up in a humane way. I hope you can make the taper. I wish nothing but the best for you. Whatever might happen, keep trying and believe in yourself! You can make it! PS: I would reccomed that you should lower the dose as heavy as possible in the first couple days. From my experience, everything above 8mgs doesnt make a big difference due to the ceiling effect and you might be able to cut your dose in half in one day without withdrawals. The last mgs are the hardest, keep that in mind!

Doc my question is why don't my dope friends hear me when I tell them I'm done they turn around and gift dope? Is it they don't want me to get better and they secretly don't want to see me rise above should I succeed? I only ask because I've been trying to quit since 2017 stopped counting how many times I've tried after 50x and I find that they the reason I've fallen few of those times, not to blame them or say it's anyone's fault but my own. Still I struggle with pint today. Another question is how does an addict walk away from everyone and everything they've known for the last 12yrs and go from numbing pain to cold turkey, nobody to really talk to because those dope friends are the only type of friend that I've had for so long. I've isolated myself from family and sober friends for almost all of the 12yrs I've been using, I don't have support but KZfaq and people like you on KZfaq that help. Thank you so much doc you rock!

@JasonBrown-dd7dj it's horrible when you abruptly quit. I was around 150-180 mgs morphine plus adding about 200 mgs tramadol. That was a fkn nightmare. It took like 9 months untill it actually felt like the withdrawaling was completely done. 2 years to feel like things completely settled down. But 7 to years later I went on suboxone. I had a small relapse with coke that eventually put me back to opioids. Only had withdrawals for like a few weeks. Then went on the suboxone about 3 months later. My suboxone treatment is kinda experimental. I had zero withdrawal symptoms wheb I started it. My dr told me I had ptsd from the withdrawal. The suboxone changed everything for me. It fixed all the stuff i was dealing with before and after the drug use.
