Are you an emotional person? Feelings are meant to be felt. Emotions are healthy + vulnerability is powerful!
They are God-given, so they are GOOD. But seeing all emotions as good can be challenging, especially feelings like sadness or anger. Do you see your emotions as good or bad?
In the first episode of this season, Candace & Jennie are laying the foundation for emotional health. They talk about how emotions connect us to God and others, why feeling hard or deep emotions points back to something that may be unaddressed beneath the surface, and the 3 C’s of emotional reponse: Control, Cope, Conceal.
As you listen in, ask yourself: what are the emotions I have felt this week? The first step to emotional health is being able to name them. Take some time to name your emotions today!

This episode was just utterly fantastic! As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I really enjoyed the understanding and pursuit for expressing emotions. It is a good reminder for me as well as I stuffed my emotions down as I cared for my mom going through cancer treatment and when she passed. I am so grateful to the Lord for bringing me to this episode today. ❤❤ It is frequent as healthcare providers that we shove our emotions down.

I’m in the same season. I also cared for my mom who died of cancer in 2021. I have stayed busy with work and now that my work is slow I’m now processing not only her passing and my stepmom in 2020 but also the past 4 years. It’s been hard! Prayers for you! ❤

@@rachelgustafson1207 I, too, can duly relate, Ms. Gustafson, because I lost my own mother many years ago now (although it doesn't necessarily feel THAT long, haha!) and even TO THIS DAY I still feel that sting that obviously comes from such things. It truly sucks-would you please forgive my language, miss-but, one good thing I try each day to keep in mind is that my mom possibly made it to Heaven, along with my dad, in addition to other loved ones, and is still lingering around in spirit, watching over us, shielding us and protecting us, right along with God's everlasting help. If I'm right, then Halleluja (hope I'm spelling that right, haha!) Anyhow, condolences and respects from myself, Ms. Gustafson, and may you continue to strive and achieve peace, fulfillment and resilience. Amen to you! 🙏❤️😁

My Pastor just preached a message about the woman at the well and her laying her water pot down at the well after she had an encounter with Jesus. He talked about laying down all of the things we use as coping mechanisms when dealing with different things in this world. He mentioned how Jesus can be our way of coping instead. Also, Jesus can truly fill us with life and give us a life more abundant than we can even imagine. I can't remember the scripture but it says something about how He can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or even think. I really struggle with trying to cope with things or avoiding dealing with emotions and need some deep inner healing.

"Every detail of your life matters to God". I love that quote and have it posted in my prayer spot. It reminds me daily that God truly cares about all my little concerns. I share every thought with Him and know that even if they seem silly to me, they are important to Him. And like you, Candace, I have learned through life that I CAN do hard things. WITH HIM! xoxo

The most helpful thing from this episode was honestly just to hear that “Joy comes from the Lord.” Previously coming from the new age and searching for joy seemed like a carrot at the end of the stick always just out of reach, now that I’ve found the Lord, I know why. ❤

This was just what I needed and supports some thoughts I’ve been having, I often feel not good enough because of the grief I’ve had after being the last surviving member of my family. I tell myself I’m a daughter of the King, I shouldn’t be sad. Very stuffed my feelings too much. Thank you I’m getting healthier and this series will help.

I am more emotional now as an adult than I ever was as a child. I can remember at 4, being held by my dad at my grandfather's funeral and thinking "Don't let them see you cry. You can't cry." I don't know why. But since my divorce, I have allowed myself to show others, especially my adult children, my emotions.

Saw a clip of this show & was like ok this sounds interesting. I hope during these 3 months you guys touch on the passive-aggressive feels & how that starts &/or how to stop it. Thanks for talking about these important things that us humans just pass over like they are nothing when God really wants us to pay attention to our emotions & feels. They are signs to us. Like when the body is not well it will give signs. Well if the mind is not doing well it also gives signs. Thanks again for the videos.

Candace, it sounds like you had a tough time with emotions, both sad and happy, but it also sounds like you have become a pro (no pun intended) to be able to feel the feelings and then move on as quickly as possible. But it also sounds like you have the capacity to deal with the emotions in longer terms when you need to. It's amazing how we all deal with our emotions. I thank God every day that He has made me as emotional as He has, but I still need His help dealing with them, especially during spiritual warfare! Thanks for sharing!

Great episode! Candace I know that you have had to make some decisions that made some of you peers, co-workers, and friends bash you because of it. I’m so proud of you for doing what you believed God would want you to do. Yes you honored him by some of those decisions. The Bible tells us what is right and wrong and I am praying for those who bashed you to find out how wrong they were and to start honoring God as well. By the way you need to get back to The Chosen. I just finished season 4 which was in theaters and wow what a wild ride! This season took 3 visits to the theater for 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours each time and it flew by! Love your work and these podcasts. Thank you for being the voice of reason doing Gods work!

Thank you both for this, I grew up with all guys 4 older brothers and my dad , my mom as well but she was a non emotional extension of the guys so needless to say any emotion I had I was immediately shamed about by all of them. In my adult life I’m also surrounded by guys, husband and 2 sons so that emotional part of myself is almost constant dismissed or shamed! Also I was not raised in the church I came to Christ at age 30 so it wasn’t until many years later that I learned emotions are a gift from God 🙏🙏🙏 I love this reminder and I believe most of us need to be reminded often! Blessings 🙏

I think it was the protective “momma bear” reflex reaction you had at the airport. I’m very protective of my husband and kids and small circle of loyal friends. I recently felt instant anger at a pastor for teaching his theory of something I knew wasn’t right. I immediately got angry and had to hold it in and do a self examination as to why I was so upset. I went home, opened my bible, did my research, reached out to 2 different pastors to make sure I was thinking was true… but realized i was protective of Jesus, the teaching of his word, and what broke my heart and angered me is that this pastor is trying to teach a theory i disagree with to a large group of new Christians.

What was most helpful...?; that is pretty tough to say; honestly, Candace; there were so many things to name, but they are on the tip of my tongue, as it were; I'll get to them in a moment or two, lol... Another important and fun thought I would like to note for you, Candace, is that I found this latest podcast episode to be one of the best I've seen to date, and I get the feeling that there are •many• more where that one came from; also, admittedly, I haven't seen and/or have yet to fully follow your podcast on the whole, but feom the nice handfuls I •have• seen, your show is absolutely nothing to sneeze at, in my own humble and respectable opinion. Love you, respect you, am grateful for your presence here on this earth-both in the entertainment world and just as much otherwise-and truly wish God's blessings upon you in literally every shape, way and/or form. God bless...🙏❤️😁

This episode is wonderful however I don't totally agree with the statement she made about being over bearing or passive agreessive mom. I have 3 grown children they r all married and live on their own but they do not live far away. They were raised to be really close with each other abd my kids will not leave the area where we live to be away from us. My daughter tried to move to California 15 years ago with her husband only last less than a year. My kids are so close and so close to me. I see rhwm everyday and see my grandkids everyday. I may spoil them abd always try to help when I can but God is with us in our life and my kids know how much we love and adore them.

Candace, praying for Biblical discernment. It is very concerning the people you are yoking yourself with. Jennie is self promoting, shallow theology and buys into the Enneagram, progressive liberal theology that is based and rooted in feelings over The Word of God. She has learned to make a very lucrative living from this shallow theology. I am warning young women as much as I can to avoid this self help theology. She mentions sin and some good stuff but misses the point of Believers as being set apart. If gathering is not equipping Believers to be set apart and doesn’t teach Believers to speak against the sins of this world. She is a false teacher to say the least. 2 Timothy 3:6-7 [6] They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, [7] always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
