There are so many companies that are putting out good products and at better prices than the big "G". Greetings

Very true. But so few that can get away with what the big G can too haha.

I have a V100 and a Tele. Both are super solid. I haven't felt the need to replace any parts. The frets are getting a bit worn on the Tele but I have had it for 19 years! I paid £100. Bargain😁. It's probably my fave electric and my cheapest. The V100 is super. Looks and feels like the original. Now I want a Strat. Wilkinson hardware is very nice too.

I can definitely still recommend them, Its just you have to make completely sure your getting one thats been hand finished and well prepared because if its sent straight out the box it probably will let you down sadly. Of course, You might be great at setting up guitars and therefore it doesn't matter so much.... but still.

Awesome playing fella, I'm just thinking of getting a v100 that's up for sale in my local area it's an older model with the traditional neck joint and a plaintop, by the way the top on yours looks really nice, I like that they don't put those awful veneers on the back like Epiphone.

cheers appreciate it - Still trying to edge that bit closer to playing like Peter Green haha. If it's a good price and you know how to get a guitar set up right id say go for it. Theres great guitars hiding among them and lots of bang for the buck as they say.

Awesome video I have a honeyburst Vintage Icon V100 and I absolutely love it. It has the fastest neck I've ever had on an Lp. The pickups and electronics will definitely be swapped . Wilkinson or not they're very bright too bright for me in fact. I love the satin worn finish.
@Paul-D
@Paul-D Жыл бұрын
Worth doing the electronics first unless you're already set on what you want, Ive changed the pots / caps on a stock one of these before and it completely changed the tone. Like huge difference. RE - the icon version, I have seen a couple that were done really nice but they seem abit more hit and miss - they're definitely not all the same.

A week ago I bought a new V100IT. Beautiful guitar, sounds great, and an ALMOST perfect setup, except that unfortunately, the majority of the fret ends on the treble side of the neck were a bit sharp. I spent about 20 or so minutes with a Stew Mac Fret Dressing fil and problem solved- but I have been doing this kind of work for decades so no big deal, however that's something that should have been addresed at the factory. If I can do a whole side of the neck in 20 minutes, one of their techs could probably do it in 10. It's a beautiful loking, playing, and sounding guitar, but if I had to take it somewhere and pay to have that work done, I would have been a little miffed.

Exactly my point. Its nearly always the same bro - but theres a great guitar in there just wish they would level up the QC and finish. Sadly we live in world of drop shipping and few care at all is the truth.

I used to own a V100 - I flipped the magnet (neck) and upgraded the pots I wish I'd never sold it - these Lemon drops are great but price has gone up since the Epiphone PG model has emerged...

@tito.tarantula

Thanks for the detailed and honest review. At this price point and considering the base quality offered, forking out some cash for a decent setup is a small price to pay, imho. It's not like all guitars which cost 3x more arrive perfectly set up out of the box nowadays. Heck, at this price point, it's even a great opp to use the guitar as a "test subject", start working on guitars yourself and save a ton of money down the road. Double win. And if you really mess things up, pay for the setup at your nearest guitar shop😅
@Paul-D

Thats true, and a refreshing positive way to see it. But…. It doesn’t change the fact that there are cheaper brands nowadays where the QC is very good on average and that changes peoples expectations.
@tito.tarantula

@@Paul-D Very true, QC is definitely one way to build a brand and many are doing it well. A fantastic time to be a guitar player, for sure.

Hi Paul .I was selling my vintage icon Tele but played it again and decided to keep it . Yes I shall change the pickups but the neck is just right for my big hands - small fingers. The high E does have tendencies to slip of the neck . It needs a new nut . I left you a note in another video , but I’ll update it … the SV20 Head I bought recently is awesome 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

How do you find it volume wise if your not trying to attentuate it in anyway outside of the lower power mode
@Raff654
@Raff654 Жыл бұрын
@@Paul-D I use a £60 Harley Benton power attenuator . It’s great to be fair , but the first I’ve tried . It does what I want perfectly . The amp is great with my pedals . I’m finding it’s definitely not a one trick pony ! I’m in a semi - detached house with no other close neighbours except the adjoined 91 year old lady . She can’t really hear it, but I do have it up to a good volume when want . She thinks her telly annoys me but it doesn’t ,so 🤷🏻‍♂️😀

@@Paul-D it’s fine on 5watt mode without the attenuator at moderate volumes I’ve found tonight . Volume on the guitar comes in a lot more obviously but it was and is very clear and crisp with nice tone . A volume that I find ok , might be too much for someone else , or not enough for another . Like I said , I can crank it a little bit here without worrying too much . I really like this amp that’s for sure 👌🏻.

Hi Paul, wondering if you ever pick this up now you have that amazing Eastman LP 😊. With this one, I was surprised at how much string noise came through in the recording, as if the mic was right up next to the strings. Is it a bit rattly to play? It might have high frets. Agree, setup is often the issue with these cheaper guitars. 👋👍🇦🇺
