I think Americans are more into guitar brand snobbery. Vintage brand guitars are recognised as first class guitars in the UK . Trevor Wilkinson worked closely with Seth Lover at Gibson, Leo Fender and Wayne Charvel . He just doesn't overcharge for quality. Over her the penny has dropped about Gibson . They are simply not worth it .

Definitely the LP style guitar does it for me. Reverb has them for roughly $549.00 If I can find one in a cherry burst, bingo, with p90's, even better. If I remember correctly, Trev Wilkinson is envolved with this brand some how, a designer perhaps. I think "Made in Vietnam" will become more and more standard.

I never understood why people crap on the Vintage headstock. I definitely don't get a "budget vibe" from that headstock. It's the closest I've seen to an actual Gibson headstock. Everybody else stretches out and distorts the shape between the nut and the E tuners. This one keeps it similar to Gibson and just slightly refines the open book feature.

I have a lotus LP custom copy from the 80’s with that exact headstock. Can’t help but notice that it’s also the same headstock that Harley Benton uses on its more recent guitars. If I had to guess, it’s all the same builder. The vintage logo is very reminiscent of the lotus, as well.

I have the Midge Ure signature LP style and it is amazing. Perfect weight and neck. Decent vibrola and the roller bridge helps a lot for tuning stability. The hum canceling p90s are t oo dark, so I swapped them out with some mojotones. It's my go-to right now, even over my Gibson and Epi.

I bought a lot of Vintage guitars about a decade ago. They are a very common/popular brand in the UK. Though these days, probably have more competition in their price range. I bought all mine from ebay sellers shifting Vintage B stock at very cheap prices. So they all display minor flaws. I wouldn't know how much better A stock might be ??? Back then, Trevor Wilkinson persuaded Vintage to move 'up-market' with the short lived Vintage Advance range. Those were the guitars I mostly purchased. Very good copy guitars which Trevor designed to be better than the originals, where he determined they could be improved. But the Fender copies had a quirky complicated neck attachment instead of the normal plate and 4 screws. I never knew this until I decided to shim a Vintage Advance Tele copy. That was a pain in the arse trying to put the neck back on again. But it remains one of my favourite Tele style guitars.

Vintage guitars are epic guitars. I have the tele you played in this vid and its my go to guitar. I also have their V100afd(Slash style Lp) it is killer for rock and looks epic. Had their SG (vs6) sounded awesome but my head couldn't get use to the horns been so offset so I got rid of that. One thing I would say is their switches and electronics are not the best but an easy upgrade and makes them sound even better.

I picked up a V100GT P90 18 mo. ago it arrived in fine workign order but the FB was super dry and had some superficial splitting, rough ness at the surface, i ended up stripping it down completely once I opened up the control cavities and saw how unfinished and ridiculously rough they were...so i made it a project, upgraded EVERYTHING, from Sperzel tuners to a Babicz FCH bridge, Switchcraft toggle and Pure tone jack, all cloth wiring, Orange drop caps, Bourns pots, after trying Gibson P90's I tried a set of Tonerider's a Vintage 90 neck + Hot 90 bridge and this guitar is a freekin badass. I run a Truglide tuning stabilizer and holy smokes does that Babicz Bridge help the sustain last 'forever'. I'm curious how these compare to the Harley Benton SC450GT w/P90s that guitar is $200-$300 less but looks almost identical, I think the Vintage are all mahogany body and neck while the HB are apparently NOT mahogany any more if they were ...

My go to guitar brand these days. Don't like new Gibsons as they are overpriced in the UK and I have one Vintage Tobacco Sunburst Les Paul that craps over every Gibson Les Paul I've ever owned or played. Sure, there are amazing Gibsons out there owned mainly by plastic surgeons, investment bankers and lawyers but as a musician for 46 years now, I'm not spending wanker money on a guitar that is priced like real estate. Fender still make some great guitars to be fair and the Classic Vibe Squiers are fine guitars. It's all too audiophile for me as I grew up in the punk era with shit gear and shit amps so maybe I have low standards but I frankly don't care. It's only rock and bleeding roll after all 😂

@@martin-1965 Oneof the best rock and roll guitarists I've ever played with had an old kay semi acoustic (not semi solid) with a single cut, kleenex box pick ups and a bigsby on it, what you would not choose to play. but my point is that it was what he'd had since the early sixties and couldn't afford anything better. He made that guitar sound beautiful and that has always stuck with me, the fact that price is not the deciding factor. My most expensive guitar is a Heritage H555, if you know about Heritage, you will know the quality. But I am now seriously considering a Vintage Les Paul Junior and Gold Top. I am like you with regard to Gibson, I've had four of them but would never buy another one new. As you say, they are building them for plastic surgeons and highly paid lawyers. Once a guitar gets beyond a certain level, it all depends on who has it in their hands and I think Vintage are now past the required level. I'm also considering a Schecter for the same reasons.

@@markfahey3921 Totally mate and the Vintage Gold Top is definitely on my list so I have - ahem - the complete set (almost) of Vintage Les Paul copies. I can't really justify buying the Gibson I want, which would not be cheap, and most if not all of my time is spent recording at my small home set up, so having a range of cheaper guitars to choose from gives me more inspiration and sounds. I am on the look out for my dream Fender Stratocaster but there's no rush and you can get an amazing beast of a Strat for sub £1k second hand which is much better value than Gibson. It's a great time to be a guitarist and especially a young player starting out 😎

Worst wast the V6 icon on two spots (12th fret, 5th fret), including a major glue residues on the fretboard, and flimsy truss rod screw with a lot of white glue all around the headstock. V52 was second with only 1 bad fret on the 15th position and a lot of glue on headstock. Best of the bunch was VS6, with fairly straight neck and frets, but than again this one had serious lacquer cracks on the neck and body and to me it seemed the electronics are not good because the tone was way different than I saw on most reviews. I was soo disapointed because I fell in love with the Vintage guitars and they got very good reviews on YT too.... Could be all fixed, but honestly I never had such issues with cheaper guitars like Squier or Harley Benton, so I was not happy and returned. Probably a bummer, but three times....:( :( ? Still planning on their guitar purchase, but I must absolutely check and inspect personally. Good luck with yours!!

Every single Vintage brand guitar I have came across was great quality right out of the box. I have their translucent blond Jazzmaster with P90's and it is on par with any Jazzmaster currently made at any price point. Wilkinson has made great parts for many years. It only makes sense that their guitars would be great.

He complains about the single ply pickguard. Little does he know that vintage In tandem with John Hornsby are building these as close as can be to the original series. Which means that back in those tele butterscotch days they only had single ply pickguard. The necks, electronics are as the original.

I have a couple of Vintage guitars, they have taken a couple of steps up since introducing the Re-issue series. I have a Vintage JMH reverse headstock 2014 Strat which was my favourite until it started going wrong. One of the machine heads failed and I had to buy all 6 to replace 1. Then I thought the pick-up selector switch had died as I couldn't select the neck pickup. I bought a new one and it still didn't work, I traced the fault to a dry soldered joint on the pick-up winding and repaired it. I took the neck off with the strings intact to do the repair and when I reassembled it, the thing wouldn't play or setup properly. I discovered the neck was twisted and warped beyond repair. I ordered a new neck which when it arrived it hadn't had the frets pressed in properly. I got that professionally repaired and now it plays great again. I also thought it sounded great until I bought a new Fender USA FSR Stratocaster for my 60th birthday and realise it's miles away from the Yosemite pickups on my Fender. I have a Vintage SG copy which is a great guitar and has been trouble free. I'd say the general quality of the Vintage Re-issue series is much the same as Squire Classic Vibe.

18:05 Seriously?! I always thought you were playing Cars by Gary Numan! xD Edit: I'm also half expecting to get r/woosh bombed because Ryan is joking about it being GnR. There's a smirk that is making me think he's joking... Also, adding link to Cars at the spot of this sound. :P kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9Njfd2p0cfYhac.html

IMHO Vintage went downhill from around 2013 because that was when JHS changed the body shapes (Extended the lower bout and lowered the lower horn) of their Gibson copies, to avoid litigation, so they could expand into the US, the biggest guitar market in the World. Between 2005-13 JHS Vintage made some of the best budget copies of Gibson guitars ever available in the UK (especially if you upgrade the appointments), those guitars often come up on the secondhand here in the UK for peanuts because they remain unappreciated, other than with those in the know. You were courteous to that interloper some people would have been rude to him I'm glad you weren't though, shows you are reasonable person to me.

I have the Vintage PGM (Peter Greene/Gary Moore) Lemon Drop reissue. It's a beast for the money (I paid £350). Does the out of phase thing. Trev Wilkinson was heavily involved in the design and spec in the early days, not so much now except providing the hardware. There are so many good value brands these days, including from the big guys, that Vintage are perhaps not quite the bargain they once were.

I saw Paul Brett touting them then a few years back I found an non distressed one for $300. I love it. Only issue I had was the thumb screw thing for the input jack was incorrect so when I first unplugged it the thing fell apart. I had the right spare piece and stuffed it back together in couple of minutes. I have gigged with it in serious heat and it held tuning nicely.

This is the second review I've watched on Vintage guitars; the first reviewer did a deep dive which included looking inside at the wiring. It was atrocious! The reviewer stated it was probably the worst wiring work he'd ever seen. He included fantastic close-up photo of the wiring in question so, I saw it with my own eyes. Having said that, it played fine, but with some of the negative comments here, I think I'm going to move on to look at other brands. I should include that this decision is also influenced by the situation that Vintage appears to be focusing their market on Europe; I live on west coast of USA and there appears to be a significant price bump upward, if I'm not mistaken.

I am a semi pro player. I saw the same video you refered to and I was surprised that the guy had a problem with the workmanship. In a live situation it would be hard to tell the difference between the Vintage VHS guitars and the original Gibsons and Fenders. I own Gibsons and Fenders and some other high end brands. I also have several Vintage VHS branded guitars and I am very happy with all of them. If you get one used you can get a great deal. My 355 was a 10th of the price of a Gibson and about 90 percent as good so for 400 bucks it was a steal!. It is better than my old Gibson 325 from the 70s. The Vintage VHS guitars sound better than Epiphones and are more like the upscale Elitist models which were made in Japan. You can always upgrade the pickups and pots to improve them and then it would be really hard to tell the difference. It's always possible to get one that had been poorly finished or bad soldering but you can have that with higher end guitars too.. In the 70s Fender and Gibson struggled with quality issues and in some cases put out some pretty substandard products. I will say this. The Vintage VHS guitars stay in tune better than most Gibsons i have owned. The Wilkinson hardware is good quality and in the end if your guitar stays in tune you can pretty much fix any other short comings with these guitars but there aren't many to fix.
