The seat would bolt in bitut the designs are different so it would have to be all of them swapped.

First 3 minutes...GMC: hmm maybe we should have added a front locker on an off road truck when building a rock course we can't always climb without it.
@michaelking1869

They should be offering it with a Torsen style limited slip in the front. Combined with the current traction control system it would make that truck miles better in off road and snowy situations.

Until they change the design of their front diffs a locker is a death sentence off-road. It's been an aluminum case bolded together since they went to IFS in the late 80s. The pinion gear acts like a wedge and splits the diff. Can't even get a aftermarket locker for the 8.25" in the half tons and only like 1 is available for the 9.25" in the HD trucks. Lol sad sad

I was so excited to see this truck off road, and realized how terrible it is when the front axle refused to split power.. come on GMC, how is your most capable truck, WITH a rear locker, your most off road truck when the front differential wont split power 50/50 over obsticles?!?!?!

Exactly! I’ve been saying this ever since the TB and AT4 was released... they are half-assed attempts at an “off road package”. They are merely appearance packages as far as I’m concerned. They aren’t that much more capable than any other Silverado and Sierra with a good set of tires.

They need to totally go through that ifs system. It hasn't really changed since they designed it in the 80s. The diff is terrible and can't survive with a locker in it. The 3.0L Diesel will be a great truck with 30 mpg hwy and all that torque down low - in a much lighter vehicle. The camera system the GM developed is just the best. Hope this engine is installed in the SUV's and maybe a hotter version for the Escalade, like Audi did for their Q7 (in Europe). Can't wait to try one out.

They have Silverados running around but mostly LT, RST, Custom, TrailBoss & below not many High country, LTZs. Unlike the Gladiator which i have only seen 1 literally to date on the road & 1 other at a shop. 19 newgen Rams are kinda semi-rare see one here & there but quite a few 19 classics which is what i like as well.

However I would also add that my work provided 2019 F250 with an E-Locker will frequently fail to disengage without stopping and hitting reverse and back to drive, and the truck has 20,000 miles on it. I only suggest that whatever is put into the truck should actually work properly.

This truck is intriguing, but is ridiculously overpriced, by at least $10K+. I also am waiting for some automotive "journalist" to corner one of the engineers and ask them what they suggest a diesel 4WD driver should do when he/she gets a "DPF full, Drive To Clean" message when the vehicle is 10 miles back on some rock-crawling trail where the engine can't be run in a manner to allow a DPF regen. This is not a hypothetical situation--I've seen diesel pickups in exactly that difficult position. Ford at least offers and optional software program on their 6.7 Super Duty XL and XLT pickups that will allow a driver to initiate a stationary re-gen if the driver gets a "Full DPF" warning and can't, for whatever reason, drive the truck down the highway for 20 minutes to re-gen the DPF. By the way, slow speed-up/slow down rock-crawling is one of the driving regimens that will produce the most diesel particulates and fill the DPF most quickly. Why don't you TFL guys EVER report on this? I've been around diesels for about a half-century now. Why don't you hire me?--I'll ask those questions without hesitation.

There’s no need to force it to do a regen unless you just don’t like looking at the alert on the dashboard. Source: owner of a modern Chevy diesel. Outside of the front camera, i think my 13 FX4 F150 has pretty much every off road thing this truck has. The Ford has a selectable rear locker and doesn't need a 2 inch lift to clear the factory 32" tires. 33's Fit a stock F150.

@@artiaga1547I came from a gm family. I don't think we ever owned a Ford. My first one. I owned 3 GMC pickups prior to buying my Ford. I used to be a GMC guy but a man's wallet can only take so much of a beating before you try something else. This Ford hasn't been perfect but compared to the GM stuff I had, it's had a small fraction of the issues. Had it almost 7 years and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Almost went back when the 16 Chevys came out because they were sexy... But damn the interiors suuuuuucked compared to my Ford. It felt like going to a midsize from my F150 and soooooo cheap feeling. Too bad, that was the best looking truck they've made in a decade plus. GM used to set the bar for design IMO but they've fallen off a cliff this century in that department.

It would be nice to see a Torsen style front limited slip like the Raptor has. Even the Tremor is getting a limited slip in the front as it should. I also like that GM hasn't went to the huge screen display on the dash. The Dodge has that and it just looks stupid to me. If I'm not going to watch movies on it I only want the screen big enough to do the job and not look like an I-Pad got stuck to the center stack.

The problem with Diesel engines is people want to immediately "Delete and Tune it" I understand why, I do. However I like cleaner air better. Ever get behind a diesel blowing all that black smoke on a nice day and you can't get around it? Yeah that's why they put all the emissions on it, those particulates are a known cause for Cancer. Might as well leave the emissions on it anyway. States are going (from what I am reading) to start enforcing these emissions as diesels become more popular. Dealerships are already getting to where they don't want to touch a deleted and tuned truck for fear of not being able to move the product. Looks like a great truck, good job Roman.

Explain how it's not a locking differential? Its certainly not an open diff and locks the wheels together once 100rpm wheel speed difference is met, below 20mph.
@lightningguy4897
@lightningguy4897 4 жыл бұрын
@@hogrod when rock climbing and you lose traction and then have to start spinning your other wheel to 20mph for the "locker" to engage a lot of things can happen you would definitely lose your forward momentum. Tfl has a few videos of it struggling. Where the actual rear diff lock didn't even sweat.

@drsus0
@drsus0 4 жыл бұрын
Brian Mattingly anything from Bilstein, Fox or Old Man Emu will be a good improvement. Within those brands there are everything from entry level (already better than anything rancho) to more committed off road builds. Personally I think the DSC fox shocks are the best of both worlds. Nice smooth adjustable city driving and a separate adjustable off road driving. But you’ll pay more of course.

Nic Restrepo I have a 15 Duramax , it doesn’t get off road a lot. Just around the farm I’ll never need the high dollar fox shocks but I would like to replace my ranchos soon they are getting rusty . Ive been looking at Bilsteins . Thank you for your time and answering my question!
@drsus0
@drsus0 4 жыл бұрын
In that case def look into Bilstein 5100 series. They’re the go to reliable performing shock. They’ll be softer around town but still have plenty of performance on washboard and dirt roads. Fox 2.0 would be the equivalent but at a higher price and they’ll ride a bit too firm around town...no need since your HD Silverado already rides a tad firmer than LT trucks. Oh... and they won’t rust, they might show some oxidation, all cosmetic, but nothing that will make the shock fail overtime.

"The camera revolution has made off roading so much less stressful." Are you serious right now??? These trucks are designed for people who want to look cool but dont want to do cool things. Go to moab in the off-season and look what real cool trucks are, 80s Toyotas and 90s jeeps with very little electronic babysitters built in!

Very interested in one of these as my first diesel truck, been looking awhile. I was in love with the Titan XD but we know how thats going.....I’m just a little leery that all others playing in this segment went with CGI blocks, and yes I’d like to put 300k miles plus on my next truck. Wondering why the general did not go that route? If its not HD I would rather walk than RAM:)

Just bout a new At4 3.0 diesel. The coolant temperature reaches up to 230 when driving down a road at 40mph but when cruising at 70 it drops back down to 210. Is that normal? Took it to the dealer they said it was but I’ve never seen a truck go past 210. Any help I would appreciated. Also my emission light came on, on the second week of owing the vehicle it’s been at the shop twice in two weeks. It’s a head ache. Kind of regretting getting this truck or this engine.
