Can the Wii U play games from Sony MiniDisc?

In this video I'll attempt to connect a Sony MiniDisc to the Wii U. We'll see if the MiniDisc can be formatted by the Wii U, and if eShop games can be transferred to it.

do you think my NetMD device will work or is it HIMD only ?

NetMD doesn’t mount as a USB Mass Storage drive.

@@will_it_work .... So at the start of the matrix, Mr Anderson could have indeed had data on a minidisc ? or do you surmise that' it was likely a sick playlist ?

I have questions too. Now that eshop is gone, (if one could legally obtain) a wiiware game for instance, could you put it on a dvd-ram or minidisc and have it be recognized by the console if it was formatted this way beforehand?

The eShop games are tied to the specific console that they were purchased on.

Not likely. Wiiware games are run on the Wii U’s vWii mode, which only recognize internal storage and standard SD cards.

So could you unplug it, put in a new MiniDisc, format it, and then transfer something else like another GBA game; and then could you unplug the player, choose a disc with a game copied to it, and then plug it in and have it load up onto the Wii U menu?

You'd have to turn the Wii U off and on between disk swaps.
