The Apollo City Pro may not be as fast as the brand new Apollo PRO, but it's a heck of a lot more affordable and goes about as fast as I'm comfortable riding on an electric scooter, for now that is 😜
Compared to other "faster" electric scooter's I've tried, this one rides smooth as butter. The acceleration is strong, but also predictable and feels natural. You can get up to high speeds and feel stable and in control on the Apollo City Pro, unlike the last electric scooter I reviewed.

The throttle and regen brake assemblies in this video are prone to sticking, so something to watch out for. I had a couple near disasters when the throttle was stuck open for me. Apollo service was great and sent me a new throttle and brake type that did not have this issue, but they were a BIG pain to self install.

Thanks for the review, just ordered mine. I was ambivalent till I saw you ride it up a hill, similar to hills here, through dirt, gravel, city etc. Living in Portland OR, needed to see that. Very hilly here, and will be nice to not always be stuck on street, lots of trails here too. Definitely went with the dual city 23, I'm about the same size as you with size 13 shoes 😊

Scooters can be a great replacement for a 2nd car. You will always need a gas car though for long distance or big shopping trips. Scooters are a great (and fun) way to save a TON of cash though if you would otherwise be a two car family. My wife and I use our scooters for everything except long distance travel or large shopping trips, so we save TONS of cash with the scooters. You only need 1 car payment, you qualify for cheap recreational car insurance since you almost never use it, and you will almost never visit the gas station. This is a MUCH better option than an EV car/truck in my opinion. I don't see EV car/trucks as being viable either financially or environmentally. The battery is going to die every 5-10yrs, the car is going to cost 2-3x as much as a gas car and you have range anxiety. Not to mention that if everyone switched to them you would have rolling blackouts. All of these issues go away with an electric scooter, or other micro-mobility EV.

I prefer e bikes, other than I don't get annoying idiots telling me to leave my scooter outside to get stolen when I take it shopping. Also in my state scooters are supposed to be limited to 15mph which seems extremely silly, unless it's only allowed on the sidewalk.
@BruceWayne15325
@BruceWayne15325 8 ай бұрын
@@DarthTinderalla-qm9zw Yeah e-bikes are great as well. I've fortunately never had anyone tell me to leave my scooter outside. They are generally afraid that you're going to ride it in the store. One thing I do to help alleviate that concern is to drop a hand basket on the deck so it's obvious that I can't ride it in the store, and then I have a makeshift shopping cart. When buying scooters though I definitely look for ones that provide a location you can securely attach a u-lock, and I make sure the scooter has some kind of anti-theft protection like Apollo is doing, where you can lock the scooter, and even report it stolen and have it tracked right to the criminals home.

I owned the Apollo City Pro 2022 and rode 2000km in 1 year. I loved the scooter, its real waterproofness, comfort, performance. But from reliability point of view, it is an disaster. At first, orange paint was peeling off on both front and rear suspension in the new state already. Afer two months of use, charger malfunctioned. Replacement charger malfunctioned in 2hrs. Then I got charger from different manufacturer. At approx 500km, rear suspenstion started to sqeek - especially in hot weather. Tried to tighten/loosen/oil everything, nothing helped. Sometimes it was quiet, sometimes people were turning their heads in the streets to find out the origin of strange awful noise. Also stand plastic end cracked and I had to glue the whole thing together. At +/- 1000km I noticed that front brake bowden is worn and torn in the location of front suspension. Both brake and electric cable are lead along the front spring with almost zero clearance with no possibility to adjust it - so luckily just brake cable was touching the spring, motor cable had maybe 0,5mm clearance. At +/- 1300km my throttle started to stick - I almost crashed when it happened for the first time. In 2 weeks, it stopped to return at all. It took 6 weeks to get replacement (Europe, Czech Republic). And finally, at 2000km, I rode at +/- 40km/h and suddenly felt free play in handle bars - it was due to all around stem crack just above folding mechanism. Then I got 6 weeks e-mail and phone battle to return it to seller. I loved the scooter, but never more.

It is a good scooter when working. However, the anti-puncture wheels are no better than any other scooter I have had with the tube-filled tires. However, the problem is that these tires are almost impossible to put on. Apollo is a good brand, but I would pick another model for that reason alone.

Feet should be to the left like you’re riding goofy style on a skateboard, if a car were to open the door as you’re passing you would hit with your right shoulder. If your facing right it leaves your ribs and chest open for impact. If you’re feet forward then you are just asking to eat it.

Nah my nami klima max is almost same weight as this scooter and packs a punch on performance. I think is in the top tier on the mid range class scooters that I know of just doesn't go above the 50 mph about same top speed as the makuta and varla eagle one pro. Probably bigger then this scooter but klima can fit into any trunk of a vehicle.

For anyone thinking of purchasing this scooter, purchase the City Pro 2023. The few flaws in City Pro 2022 are resolved. Sticky throttle \ Regen brake, replaced plastic kickstand with metal one, carry hook has a latch, even more powerful battery. I own the City Pro 2022 and it is a smooth powerful ride. The tires are 50% wider than my previous scooter making riding through lose gravel \ dirt so much safer. Absolutely love the cruise control. In fact, if a scooter did not have cruise control, I would pass on it. People say the light is not very effective, but from my riding at night on a bike path... the pathway is fully lit up. I normally do not prefer riding at night, but with this scooter, totally safe and an enchanting ride. This is a full size scooter, not something you toss into your car's trunk. People who are looking for a way of parking their car, this would be it. Oh and to boot, if the scooter is stolen, it has built in GPS so you can track its location.

I don’t have much experience with scooters but I do know cars and I keep hearing that scooters are upgrading to drum brakes so less maintenance but in regular cars drum brakes are about the worst brakes you can opt for a lot more maintenance you have to open them up and clean them out since unlike disc brakes there open you can just wash them drum brakes are enclosed and you have to open them up to get the brake dust out and clean them so how are drum brakes better are they different in a scooter?
