Although we reviewed the Ciyce 3-in-1 Wireless Gaming Headset in the past, I've felt that something was wrong ever since the upload. How is it possible for the headset to be so good, but for the microphone to be SO BAD! Well, shortly after uploading that video, Ciyce reached out to me and shared the fact that they felt the same way. We decided to take a second shot at it and completely replace the headset with another unit. While I was waiting for the headset to arrive, it was found that the previous headset they sent for review was in fact an early sample with a faulty Bluetooth chip and USB Dongle.
So, fast forward to today, where we are looking at both the pre-release Ciyce Gaming Headset, as well as the fully released retail unit. Honestly, it's not hard to hear the difference between the two. Although I did not add any filters in post-production for the sound profile, I did match the gain of all samples to as close to 6dB. The sound coming from the previous Ciyce ANC Gaming Headset was VERY low, even though it was recorded at +/ 70% gain in Windows 10. So low in fact that I had to add +15dB to match the sound volume of the replacement Ciyce Gaming Headset. I had debated leaving it as is; however, it was almost inaudible. You can also hear the sound raising and lowering on the previous headset, specifically in Bluetooth mode. When the audio dipped before the +15dB gain boost, the audio was almost indistinguishable.
The replacement headset on the other hand needed no +/- gain offsets in post-processing, and held onto a level mix of audio throughout all of its testing.
At the end of it all, I really wish I had have received the second headset in the first place because it truly is a great device for the price. I was assured by Ciyce directly that end-users, backers, and purchases will not be sent the units with the bad chipsets, and will be receiving the working units.

I use the A6100. It’s a great budget beast is you shoot primarily on a tripod vs handheld as it has no built in IBIS. I published a video last week going over all my creation gear (Camera, lenses, PCs, etc) if you’re curious :)

@Qwazyd0gg Oh ok cool, im going to check it out, I am looking to buy a new camera, I do want IBIS, a flippy screen, fast focus and not so expensive, I've been looking at sooo many videos and I narrowed down to Panasonic G9, Sony ZV-1, and Olimpus OM-DE MK III. 😬

Sony has arguably the best autofocus. The ZV-1 is great if you don’t want to buy a ton of lenses, and the ZV-E10 is it’s newer bigger brother with interchangeable lens support, but no IBIS. Maybe a used A6600 would suite as well. So many options lol. I had Panasonic, and it was ok, but the MFT form factor meant all my lenses were too long and it didn’t get bright enough for my liking… and their AF sucked due to being contrast detection.

@@qwazyd0gg Thanks Qwazy, I think I am going to buy the Sony ZV-1, I really like the auto focus on that camera, I don't care much about the lenses, although I do wish it was wider.

I do like it when companies listen to customer feedback and change things, although it seems like they had already made that change on the backend. Good on them. 👍🏼

They’re a great group of individuals. Just a couple of minutes ago they sent me an email asking if there was anything that could be improved. They were open to constructive criticism and appreciated the feedback: - Less multifunctional buttons - Dedicated mute - Less audio navigation buttons - Detachable boom microphone I’m sure if they do well with this launch they’ll be back to the drawing board with another version, and hopefully they maintain a little more focus on gaming and less on trying to do everything.

If you listen with headphones, you’ll notice the old one has a lot of high and low dips, causing inconsistency in the volume vs the new one.

I'm just curious If it was a hand picked unit for this review.. because a bad mic makes multi-player a less then exciting experiance

It’s not outside of the realm of possibilities whenever I receive units from a vendor; however, I don’t believe it was. They actually forwarded me an email from their R&D team explaining the issues with the USB receiver and the level tolerances of the ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) that were causing the issue. They were more apologetic about the circumstances of the first headset than they were concerned about the negative feedback, and never asked for a take down of the first video (Which I would not have done either way). I feel good about the exchange; however, like I said, there is of course now way for me to be 100% certain since I didn’t source the unit myself via retail channels.

Sounds better.. less hollow.. but still not good enough.. stinks because I was hopeful.

There are certainly better options for mic quality, but I think overall this is a well rounded package given it’s price point.
