In order for Tiger to win again he needs to play around 10 times a year. He can't do it playing majors only. If he got healthy enough to do that he could get a couple more. I think its highly unlikely he'll ever be healthy enough to do that.
@bwalsh1105
@bwalsh1105 Ай бұрын
First I think it’s entirely possible for him to win again however I think it’s more nuanced. It’s hard to play and win at the professional level when you only play 10 times a year. His body and in particular his legs are completely fried. He also needs to practice rigorously as well to perform at that level. It’s too physically demanding. He pushed himself too hard coming back from all his injuries. In my opinion, the only way he wins again, is if he finds a way to take enough time to physically restore his body. Idk if that’s even possible at this point but he can’t win when he can barely walk around the golf course

A guy like that will never quit. Can’t quit. It’s his whole identity. The man doesn’t play for fun he plays to win. He just needs to get off to a good start in a major in the first round which will lift him and make him believe in himself . The pain won’t hold him back if he gets some positive momentum going forward, he will fight through it for victory

Look at Tigers results in 23/24.. even in his own tournament (hero challenge) he came 18 out of 20, 20 shots behind the winner.. the last two masters he is +15 over par . Does Tiger still have a golf game?, absolutely, does he have the physical stamina due to injuries, unfortunately not. You cannot get more rounds or reps if after 2 rounds youre struggling with walking. I think he should still play and accept invites to tournaments but expectations as fans now should be he is there to boost viewer ratings, crowds and to see an odd glimpse of the magic which dominated golf for so long.

Tiger will be 50 in a couple of years. He'll go to the Champions Tour and do well there. Riding in a cart, three day tournaments, no cut line, shorter courses, and playing with guys he played with in his heyday. His days of dominating the PGA Tour are in the rear view mirror now.

I hope he carries on for many years to come - but purely for his own satisfaction and enjoyment! (If he's able to take satisfaction and enjoyment from playing, knowing he isn't going to be a challenger at the top of the leaderboard). He's given enough to others and to the sport, now he's earned the right to play two rounds of golf a year at Augusta in his old red t-shirt for old times' sake, he's earned the right to take it easy, to sit back and lap up the adulation that he deserves. His presence as a winner isn't important any more. His presence is enough.

@@Sluggo717 Is he really? Yes he made the cut at the Masters, but in round 3 and 4 he could barly walk. at the PGA it was a desaster. He is only playing majors right now. But to win them you need different preparation. I am not saying he should no play anymore but at least he should be realistic and say that he wants to win, because right now he clearly can't. I remember having that feeling about Faldo in 1997, when he missed the cut at the Masters, after winning the year previous. He was the golfer I idolised, and to see him struggle in 97, as Tiger made history was a tough pill to swallow. We are seeing the same with Tiger now, as the likes of Scheffle dominate

Woods doesn't play enough competitive golf anywhere near often enough to contend for winning championships, and his various injuries won't let him practice or play often enough to stay sharp at an elite level. His car crash that shattered his leg effectively put the final nail in the coffin of his playing career, although he may later experience some success against the old-timers on the senior Champions Tour if driving power carts is still allowed by then, or if he can get through walking three rounds if he chooses not to use one. He is mostly a brand name at this point.
@kylejohansen689
@kylejohansen689 Ай бұрын
He's not winning any PGA Tour event right now if he's not playing competitive rounds. I'm pretty sure he doesn't actually expect himself to win any major he enters. He's in the phase Jack was in at the end of his playing career where he's just playing for himself, for the fans. Jack's best finish after 1986 was a T7, 6 and T6 at the Masters. Tiger can play majors just because he wants to, without any expectation of doing well. I would also say to Guy's point about golf being worse when he's gone ... Tiger's impact on the game made it clear he was going to leave it in a better place because all the top guys now grew up learning from him, and the game has grown so much in the last 25 years.
@shukigkato

And Jack was playing about 10 events a year up until 1995 to make that happen. Tiger will probably end up playing 5 events this year which is the most since 2020 when he played 7 times. That's not enough to be competitive. For comparison Tiger played in 18 events in 2018 which was crucial to his success in the following year's Masters.

Tiger’s run at the top of golf was magnificent. He completely dominated golf from 1997 to 2009. Even after the back surgeries and personal issues he managed to get three more wins. But that’s where it stops in my opinion. His legs are completely ruined. He’s also playing less than 10 events per year. To be in with a chance at winning you have to be playing regularly and keeping fit. The guys at the top now are leagues apart from where he is. He still sits alone with Jack at the top though 🐐🐐

If Tiger can play the senior tour for 2 weeks to tune up before the masters or pga, he’ll always have a chance. He strikes the ball incredibly well and he still drives it well within tour avgs. It’s about time getting the short game dialed in for competitive golf and playing a couple practice and scouting rounds isn’t enough. Tiger Woods doesn’t bogey a par 5. This Tiger who doesn’t have the physical ability to walk a golf course every week for a month straight, does bogey par 5s. Just a matter of getting the right training in.

It is very hard for anyone to win on the PGA tour. Tiger has a very few years left. If he golfs 5 events a year, he has about 25 events before he is statistically over. So, I think it is unlikely he will win again. But look at the people he beat in the Masters for instance. Hovland, Speith, Thomas, Rose, Johnson, and Woodland. Are they over too? It is possible, although statistically unlikely.

Many people are under the impression that Tiger is still healing, and that once his leg has totally healed he'll be more competitive. But it's been over two years since his accident and that leg is as good as it's going to get. Meanwhile he has back issues and the other effects of aging to deal with. You have to walk about 30 miles in a week when playing a tournament, and walking on that leg is painful. That's why Tiger's scores tend to be near or under par in the first two rounds and then +3 or higher in the subsequent rounds. Tiger Woods is impaired. It's a permanent condition. The chances of him winning another tournament are slim to none, especially a major.

He's gotta play at least 1 tournament a month moving forward. He can't take 2 months off between each major.

He will ride a cart in Sr Tour and dominate for a few years …..regular tour he will be lucky to make a cut…..amazing Taylor Made even pays him to be a sponsor …Nike was smart to but the cord…maybe he can win one of his Simulated Golf league events…

Unfortunately, I think the best you could hope for would be a top 25 finish. He just isn’t the same, not even close to his 2018-19 self. Guys on tour are just better than he is and younger.

He's only playing majors and not even all of them. He's just trying to beat Jack's record. If he had already beaten that record, he'd have retired a long time ago. He's made 1 cut in the past 5 majors that he's played in and the cut he made, he came in dead last in the final score.

He's not trying to beat Jack's record. Despite his drive you don't think he knows he can't compete with the best right now, in his condition?

I don't recall Bear Nicklaus or Shark Norman or Walrus Stadler ever going on a trophy. so by using T Woods the powers that be have cheapened and demeaned every single trophy that it has ever been applied to. Shame on everyone involved.

if he could ride a cart and not have to walk....strong chance.....he has to walk four rounds to win though so yeah its over at this point

Let’s let this subject go, it’s over. I am Not even convinced he will win on the senior tour. He would have a hard time with fat Perez at this point. No amount of reps will help at this point. When you sell your sole you have to eventually pay it back. When Tiger and Nike parted ways, that was it. Now Tiger trying to live through Charlie. Sorry Charlie is going to be a nice player in school. Most likely that’s as far as he will go.,

I think he can win another major but must play more. The key is to win two majors and then eventually retire as an older player after a equal record of 18.

Two? Lol. No. Two would still leave him behind Jack’s 18. It’ll never happen, zero chance in hell.

I meant retire after winning the 18th one. If he got to 17 majors you know he's going to keep playing until he equals the record.

I feel like he will win another major. BUT he needs to change his game, he's gotta take out some of the shots in his bag, and he's gotta play probably more forgiving clubs. L ook at scotty, he changed up his putter and it worked for him. I think tiger just needs to accept he's older and with a change he's going to win another one.

You can’t dispute what tiger has done and done for golf. However I think the issue with him playing and playing the golf he is at the moment is the media coverage he gets. He gets coverage as if he’s in contention every time. that’s where I think it’s getting frustrating watching golf. He could still win. However give him the coverage his place in the tournament is dictating.
