I'm surprised you didn't seem to consider the Mystery Berry as a held item option, which restores 5 PP to a move that runs out of PP in battle. Perhaps having a total of 13 PP for Fire Blast against Red would've gotten you the win sooner, without having to wait for RNG to give you the absolute perfect battle.

Thoughts: Pretty nice to see someone do a different twist of playing Pokemon! Typhlosion is my boi ever since I grew up during Gen 2. 3rd highest Special Attack stat for Fire types in Gen 2. And Fire Blast is a recipe for success. Heck, Typhlosion has access to Thunder Punch in Gen 2 before it became Physical later on to deal with Water types. Fire is a pretty good type offensively in Johto until you get to Clair and Lance. Though, in the case of Fire Blast, it is overkill for Bugsy and Jasmine. Really, Fire Blast is just pushing the higher damage output on Neutral or 2x Resist targets than what Flamethrower can accomplish. Granted, it is the Power VS Consistency dynamic since Gen 1. But hey, competitive players always go for Fire Blast for the extra push. There are a few more PP Ups you can have access to before Kanto in Crystal. In Crystal, Route 45 at a Pond (Hidden item) and Mt Mortar basement floor 1 (You need to go to the middle cave and go down the ladder to get it. Surf required). That way, you could have the maximum chances to use all 8 Fire Blast on Lance. Also, I think MysteryBerry is the right item over Charcoal for Red. If Charcoal gives out 20% boost in modern Gens, it might be better than MysteryBerry, since that extra 10% might be enough to get a better range on Snorlax without Rain and Amnesia up and even Charizard (Assuming that you Crit Blastoise). Kinda annoying that MysteryBerry only gives you 5 extra PP unlike Leppa Berries. But, I think MysteryBerry might be the item for Red, since that gives more chances for that 5.31% of critting with Fire Blast (Factoring Accuracy) on Snorlax while also trying to "stall" Rain out.

Very nice videos, looking forward to how you develop your video style in the future. Doing experiments and trying out a variety of things is good. If there's some improvements I'd suggest working on your overall narration/storytelling, sometimes events are happening on screen before you get to explaining them and it ruins the drama slightly. Love the character info feed on this and your MMBN2 video.

That reminds me of when I played Yellow as a kid. I only used Pikachu, because why bother levelling all six Pokemon up, and one-shot my way up until... Either the Pokemaniac fossil fight or one of the Jesse James fights, I can't remember, but it was a terrible matchup for Pikachu and my level 6 Bulbasaur could not save the day after that.

I hear that spinners will only automatically turn to you if you're running, so maybe you can try that in your next run. Though I'm saying this really early into the video, so for all I know that's something you discover later... (Edited) Oh. You were doing fine anyway, I guess I said that one a little early. Well, I'd like to reflect on what you said during Bugsy's gym: Very true, the PP system is unlike many RPGs at that time, and even to this day. The only comparable games I can think of were the original edition of the first Final Fantasy, various versions of Dungeons and Dragons, and DnD derivative games. However, the "PP" of FF classic spells (in case you haven't played it) was more like PP for groups of spells of a similar strength than outright spell-by-spell. DnD kind of has two kinds of casters, which were "spontaneous" and basically worked like FF1, or weren't and you outright had to assign spells up to your limit of available spells per day, including assigning the same spell multiple times if you, well, wanted to use it multiple times that day. I hope this was an interesting read!

In unreleted news i was about to comment about the metronome item as i recall it being in gen 2 but no i was remebdering heartgold not crystal so i is dumb lol

A great vid, it’s a shame the algorithm is already pigeonholing you into just MMBN content. If I had one suggestion it would to be to use a static image of the model of the Pokémon or card art as it’s a tad distracting watching the model moving the whole time.
