I think woodguts is almost certainly the worst form for this challenge. Kudos for trying it with the clunkiest form possible. I'm pretty sure it goes Elec > Fire = Aqua > Wood For charge shots in buster only. You really need chips to lock up as close in on your opponent if you want to hit with the twister

You can beat Bass several ways without chips. You can trade for extra programs to get your attack higher, and with a lv5 buster x2, and a set grass program, you can deal exactly 200 damage with a flame charge shot.

So it's impossible to be this game without battle chips lol.

you can, and i know this because my friend and i used to play this game all the time when we were kids, and one day his L and R triggers stopped working. he was able to use chips on his first turn, and then once they were all used up he was on his own, lol. i imagine you could beat the twin viruses if you had aqua guts style. line them up horizontally and then blast them w the charge shot. it hits one panel behind, so they'll die simultaneously. desertman would also be much less painful. wood guts is literally only good for fighting alpha, probably.

Ele ball is not random. They travel diagonally and stop if they land in front-facing you.

In Legacy Collection, it IS possible to beat all 6 BN games with just the buster. Just enable Max Buster, and increase your attack power with power ups(BN1&2) or Attack+ programs(BN3-6) and you’re good to go. Buster Max multiplies your buster’s power by 100x your current attack power. B button power attack is unaffected.

Frankly, I feel like the spirit of the challenge is to flex how powerful you can make a buster-only run become rather than arbitrarily handicap yourself by not using things like mod tools or patch cards available in the legacy collection. I would rather see how wide open you can break the game rather than stress yourself out for the sake of youtube videos.

Does anyone else find it funny that in this game, Geo's buster is faster then Hub's, while in Star Force, the BN Blaster is a faster version of the default buster in both rapid and, in SF3, charge?

I remember being a kid and being stuck on quickman for ages. I beat him finally on a trip to target with my step mom and I was in pure ecstasy mode and she was like “that’s great bud! *awkward smile*” good times.

the navi customizer is a great addition but the way they use it in MB3 is a bit of a pain to use, specially with those force story's chip, they are not exactly small so they can took a lot of space. Also, rather odd that Lan has emotional crisis in this one since it is pretty common for Navi to get deleted but they can be revive if they have back-up which the bad guy did many times in previous games too.

There is a very good reason people don't know Lan saved the world. People who are underage, or are not proper authorities, cannot take credit for vigilantism. Saving the universe if you aren't wearing a badge at the time, is a big no-no, in japan. They'll sooner throw the hero in jail for the crime, than allow them to be credited with saving people. and they'll do so, even if there is irrefutable evidence that the person is a hero. A perfect example is in the MHA anime with the fight with Stained. Despite being in the equivalent of police academy, the heroes are told that either they can take credit and be put on trial, or they can shut the fuck up and let the police proper take credit, despite the fact the video is everywhere.

Considering how grindy it would've been to do that, though, I'm fine with this. Not what I would let myself do (since I'm apparently a masochist), but I'm glad you can.

Fundamentally MMBN is supposed to be a social game where you discover cool codes, earn rare chips to trade, and battle your friends. Unfortunately with it being on the GBA system you're heavily restricted by your zip code. However, with the advent of the internet it just streamlines that process. Sure you don't get the same social excitement from hearing about a super cool secret from your friend group, but you get the infinite collective power of the internet.

Also when fighting the Numbers security viruses in secret area, you *must* delete them in numerical sequence (1-3) and in a single hit just like with Bass's lifeaura. If two or more have the same number, they *must be deleted simultaneously.* Chips are a requirement for these enemies as they act like a firewall. Also, the AntiDamage extra code via mod tools, just like its NaviCust program (NCP) requires the input (B + ←) upon being attacked or it will not activate. This NCP is exclusive to Shadow style MegaMan (just like how Super Armor Break Charge and Break Buster are for Guts style) and is only rewarded after levelling up shadow style to Level 4, so the above mod tools option is the only available option without more cheats. This also means the Shadow virus is not a chip requirement enemy unlike the Numbers mentioned above. Remember that the stronger extra codes for mod tools WILL cause bugs. Bugs include: HP Drain bug, Cust HP bug (drain on custom menu), Panel Change bug, Forced Movement bug, various Buster bugs including firing blanks, Modified Buster Shot bugs, and Support bug (First Barrier, or temp Invincibility).

OK, just wanna clarify things but before that, you're not cheating using the "Mod Tools" as it is a in-game mechanic exclusive to BN3. They're essentially the proto Mod Cards that would appear in the next 3 games. "Technically", getting HeatGuts style is a result of trading styles like you would in BN2 with a friend. Now to clarify: the "Yoko" area is actually called "Yoka", ProtoMan appeared much earlier in the game during the 2nd test for the N1 Grand Prix. I'm sure someone had an answer about the empty PT machine in the final room of Wily's lair. Inukai, BeastMan's NetOp/Operator, was off-screen merc'd... however, Battle Chip Challenge would show that he survived along with another Gospel member who was also merc'd via briefcase. Finally, JapanMan is actually known as YamatoMan in the JP release of Rockman.EXE 3 reflecting his classic robot master counterpart but light blue in color. That was probably was done to save on text space, but their signature spear weapons are 1 to 1 identical. Honestly, with the text limitations, his name would have fit in as "YamatoMn" since it would fill the 8 letter limit shown in the top right as you first start the battle with him (and his V2-V3 iterations to get his chip) as well as other viruses and bosses. There is no V4 version as his V4 chip, as well as for other boss navis, are exclusive to Team style MegaMan and *must* be equipped before battle to get their V4 chip. Not that this will impede the buster only run, you'll have to defeat all the V3 navis in under 20 seconds to receive their V4 chips... or use the bugfrag trader but it is VERY frugal about dropping V4 chips. That aside, this buster only challenge run is great.

There's a little bit of nuance to the KingMan fight, namely his "Plan B" technique. It has different effects based on how you've been acting in the fight. Using Wind attacks to push his Pawns away or making holes to drop his Knight off the field will result in him swapping a Pawn for another Knight, and he'll continuously respawn Knights that you drop into holes. Hugging the back column will trigger his Area Grab and moving the Pawns forward. If you keep breaking his pieces (either with Break chips or with the BreakCharge NaviCust program that a guy in the lobby gives you), he'll spawn a Rook with a ton of HP to continuously guard him. If you're lucky and get an Aqua or Fire style, you can take advantage of their piercing charge shot against his Rook Plan B, but other elements don't have that advantage.

I might check out the first bn game after watching this.

Late to the party but its fun watching all this BN content after revisiting the Legacy Collection myself. In case you were curious, im in the camp of any Mod Tools are on the table. Its not your fault the devs handicapped HP+700 with an irrelevant downside, challenge runs should always look to exploit what they can.

Actually, funny thing about Shark Man. There is an actual Shark Man robot master. He's in Mega Man 3 for the MS Dos. Though he wasn't designed by any of the classic Mega Man staff, so there is that.

As soon as the Protoman fight rolled around on 1:29:06, I immediately noticed something was off with the music. While I'm sure you probably intended to use the standard WWW Area theme from BN2, you ended up using a parody version of it from a channel called SiivaGunner, which has a Love Live song they like to use on the channel as a leitmotif. Whether it was intentional or not I don't know, and seeing as you forgot to update the display since it still shows the MM7 theme it makes it harder to determine lmao. All in all, this whole little section made me burst out laughing. Entertaining run though.

Desertman actually becomes a cakewalk in buster only if you have an aqua element style, since hitting him with the aqua charged shot will solidify him and let you wail on him more

I assume you stopped at Real Bass because Bass Deluxe is completely impossible on this run, right? I don't see any way to get through his 150 defense Aura without chips, after all.

Heads up for Battle Network 4 since you’re likely going to allow the use of Soul Unison/Double Soul, Wind Soul completely breaks the LaserMan fight. LaserMan has a crippling weakness to the Wind element. Not the BN6 kind, LaserMan is helplessly immobilized by concussive knockback from things like Wind Rack and Air Shot. And your basic Buster as Wind Soul is a spammable Air Shot that does 5 damage, and each shot fires in succession just quickly enough to nail LaserMan before he finishes recoiling from the last hit. Meaning you can infinite combo him into the dirt from max HP with a really persistent button mashing. Good luck out there.

Huh. Yknow, it's surprisingly easy to forget how Higsby were introduced to the series after every game treated him like a close ally. You'd think that taking an entire school hostage would have some ramifications for his life. At least he assisted in saving the world several times over with his chip shop and trading machines, but still.

this was a very fun look back on how things came to be and its impact, both in terms of evolution as well the factors that are still in play such as franchise fatigue or media tie in effectiveness I would be down to see another video like this where its you having a mix of what you know coupled with enough information gathered that are supported by facts on top of fun challenges you do like the buster only runs and the fan game Orange Island spotlight(my fave part being the orange related trivia). and to round this out; Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force and Wild Force are honestly huge banger opening that I can't pick a #1 from them but I respect you picking a fav in Lightspeed

18:50 - Specifically 2, Rogue is notably using his personal sword instead of his Laplace wizard. This means that ClockMan is pulling Rogue from either his fight with Geo in the Bermuda Maze (as Rogue EX) or the secret superboss at the Whazzap Ruins (as Rogue SX, his strongest form). Those are the only storyline battles where Rogue pulls out the sword.

I figured out a way to turn Bass GS into a one-chip run. You simply need to give yourself the Poison Panel bug again, and then ditch Buster upgrades altogether with Air Shoes and Float Shoes. Despite appearances, Bass is actually a grounded opponent so Poison Panels hurt him. So simply use one (1) Area Grab chip to steal his front column and then beeline to turn every panel you can step on into Posion. Once Bass regains control of his panels again, he’ll take a light drain from posion every time he goes in front. And then every time he uses Earth Breaker late in the battle, he’ll be standing on your posion AND left open to attacks because he let the Aura down. It’ll be long, tedious, and dragged way out but you’ll get through Bass on a single chip. Also having ElecGuts for this battle would let you stop his big charge-up attacks, unload a full clip of gatling shots, and leave his Aura down for a long while to speed up the process of chipping his HP down.
