M. R. HARI SERIES | # 157
In this video, M. R. Hari describes the efforts that went into simulating a natural forest in the premises of a polytechnical college in Tumkur, Bengaluru. The red soil in the premises had to be made more fertile by adding black soil in order to increase the carbon content and to ensure good growth of the saplings. Indigenous species of plants were selected for the afforestation project, sponsored by Mann+Hummel, a German company, and constant water supply ensured. Nearly three months after the planting process, M. R. Hari observes the expected level of growth and hopes a full-fledged Miyawaki forest will flourish in a matter of six months or one year.
