As someone who remembers (and actually ordered from the JC Whitney catalog back in the 70s and 80s) I admire this truck owner's perseverance. It was a PAIN to order that crap - you had to fill out a tiny little order form with a bunch of numbers and mail it in or call someone on the phone and painstakingly read and go over a bunch of item numbers. That truck alone was 2 hours of ordering, and that was AFTER deciding what to order. And don't get me started on returns/mistakes, which were virtually guaranteed to happen.

Typically pretty low. But five years sitting for a Chevy 350 isn't really anything. The gas was still half good, and it had a fresh battery. It looked like it was kept decent, and had some parts fairly recently, which definitely increases the chances. When they sit for years and years and years, that's when you get the cars and trucks that need so much time to slowly coax them into living once more.

Without being too nosey Kevin, I'd be interested to know a wee bit more about what all is now yours. Does all the random stuff come with the trucks? Have you bought everything? The main reason I'm asking: I think there's quite possibly as much value in the "stuff", as the vehicles. It looks like you could fill a decent-sized truck with just the tool and fluids. A skip might be handy too, even just for all the boxes/cardboard/shit. I wonder what the story was with the former owner. He seems to have been into buying, selling, maybe both. Was he maybe a trader of some kind? There seems to be so much stuff, still in boxes. Once you get the vehicles taken care of and salvage all the good automotive stuff, there could enough stuff there for a yard sale/car boot sale. Either that, or someone could spend a couple of days listing stuff on eBay. Dust it off and you might be very surprised at how much it brings in. Just a thought but Mook's animal rescue charity coul do pretty well out of it. Looking forward to the next one and completely agree about the AD/HD t-shirts - you both need one.👍😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.

Kev, been a fan and subscriber of yours since well before your last deployment and I just want you to know how much I appreciate the content you put out. You've been entertaining and educating me for years now and more than anything, I'm just thankful for the content. Like others, I don't need an apology from you. The way you shoot and edit your videos definitely gives it a warm and inviting feel that more polished channels and shows simply cannot replicate. So long as you keep creating, I'll keep watching. Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you, Mook, and Coda! God bless y'all!

73-80 hoods had the bending problem. 81 thru 91 had a different hinge/spring design that didn't suffer from the bending problem. And there are fixes for the 73-80 hoods to stiffen them to keep them from bending.

2:45 Convex "fisheye" mirror for wide-angle view 2:53 "Sight rod" (some models come with an illuminated tip --- or the entire rod lights up --- for added visibility in darker locales; this one probably is lighted, too, since it has that translucent orange section near the tip), for helping to judge bumper-clearance when plowing snow or performing other "tight quarters" tasks

definitely some kind of rural pimp mobile ;-) one of a kind vehicle .... makes total sense that the former owner was a trucker, must have missed driving semis and wanted a car that had all the same custom stuff on it .... love the hood ornament on the orange one

Everything from the Cadillac hubcaps to the wheel skirts the the ridiculous chrome add ons just make this truck amazing. I feel like it belongs in a movie, it's like the Family Truckster of Chevy trucks.

I'll be the weird one and say I want the lumina and that 89 bonneville sse. That bonneville is a little slower than the later ssei but still pretty fun. I grew up around and owned plenty of square body stuff so the old sporty gm fwd cars always interest me. I used to use type f in gm's to firm up the shifts, always worked fine for me.

The 88-90 grand prix se is my favorite. I owned 6 at one time with the color matched wheels. I owned quite a few 91-96 also but only gtp's. I was always big into the grand prix scene but you rarely see them anymore either.

Kevin/Mook @Junkyard Digs, I know you didn't do any carb work this time but keep this trick I devised years ago for the future.. Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire clippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits inside whatever port your spaying thru. You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes. I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense. BTW.... Great videos. Y'all make me miss my youth. Be Well!

Love your channel brother. Im a Iowa farmboy myself. Was wondering if maybe you could let me know of any old jd 2 cylinder tractors sitting around that you might come across in iowa. Im a serious collector and buyer of these old tractors. I love finding them with stuck motors and getting them freed up and running again. Thanks brother

That barn will provide you a year of daily videos. The orange truck... dare I say it.. matches your beard. The previous owner clearly had a lifetime subscription to the J.C. Whitney catalog and love for flea markets. Can't wait for the next video on the next orange truck followed by the mini bike revival, followed by the Monte Carlo, the Bonneville SSEi etc. etc. Wash rinse repeat.

I'm much older than y'all. Back in the day, before PC, we had an impolite term for a truck that was way over accessorized like that one...especially with Cadillac hubcaps, wheel skirts and the lit Swan wings hood ornament. Anyway...that small pole on the front driver/passenger side bumper is a corner pole to let the driver know where his front bumper ended when turning tight....typically used back in the day by semi truck drivers. Rip all that crap off and you have a valuable collectible. Enjoying this series of videos. 👍👍

Awesome find and I can't wait for more!! I know you'll save everything else in the barn but make sure you save that 88-91 SSE Bonneville and Z34. They are both rare and not many on the road. I might even be interested in them depending. They made hardly any Z34s and only 13k a year of the SSE. There aren't many at all left of the SSE probably more of the Z34 honestly. I own an 90 SSE and a 90 Turbo Grand Prix. Both excellent. TGP being very simular to the Z34 but more rare. I hope you work on them get them goin. The SSE is super simple to work on. Only thing to remember is the brakes are like a European car and have Double Bubble ISO flares at the ends if you need to replace any hard line flares. They are stainless steel though along with the exhaust. Usually only the rubber brake hoses go bad.. I hope you take the bug gaurd off it lol. That is hideous and meant for a truck...Good luck with everything to you both!

WOW, what a great vid. Got my heart pumpin'! I've driven just about every make /model of tractor over my thirteen year career, for just about as many carriers, unfortunately, puling everything, doubles, trip pups, tanker haz/water for fresh grade, even cattle once. THAT! Was a never again experience. My career ended with a couple of 6 weeks in a coma, ect... And... Well... Anyway, at 18, my second vehicle, don't ask about the first, was a '78' sqare body 3/4 ton 350, 4WD.in '82'. I put a plow on it, Buffalo NY, and enjoyed it like nothing else since, for 12 years. So easy to work on, cheap parts....I mean plentiful inexpensive parts, and tough as nails. I do have to say, I have "NEVER" seen factory wheel flares on a square body? Don't actually like them, but if they're actually factory ..... I'd have keep 'em :\. Seeing such a nice vehicle, out of a barn, damn, even the dash ain't cracked all to heck! Brought back fond memories ! Just a thought...if you wanna loan it to me for a couple O' 20 years or so, just drive it on up here and I'd be happy to take that burden off you hands. LOL. Thanks, yous two... I enjoy your stuff! Peace!
