A guy bought this old chevy short box classic truck off the internet sight unseen. Let's see if we can get it running and driving again. Think it will start?

I would like to thank you for being so verbal on your channel….my husband has been a mechanic since he was 13. He lost his sight in a chemical accident at the age of 34. He still worked on vehicles, even though it took him longer to accomplish some tasks. He is now 79 and slowing down a bit. He really enjoys your videos and often talks to you on the screen telling you what you need to do to fix the issue. And then you follow his advice!! It’s truly funny to watch and listen to the two of you!!! Lol! Thanks for all you do!!

Derek, probably the best explanation for Joe Everyday on how to diagnose timing and tune a carburetor by ear. I learned this 60 years ago from my father on my first car, a 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe (I kick myself twice a day that I no longer have it). Great show, great channel, you, Jess and the boys are what 'Merica is all about. Thanks.

A older fella here in town (Gothenburg, Sweden) drives this bodystyle, every day, rain or shine. I'm not sure if it's a GMC or a Chevy but it's got the longer bed. Now some of you that read this would think that this is nothing special because you live in the US of A. But imagine that you live in a country where gas is double of what it is in 'merica and that most people are driving VW ID4, Tesla or some other electrical car, this older guy is a legend in my book. I don't know what he does for a living besides being awesome but I bet he hasn't given a flying you know what in the last 30 years about what anyone thinks. He's just a legend. Oh yeah it's got a louder exhaust as well so incase you don't see him, you will definitely damn sure hear him!

Tryna sell my cars so I can get it to make memories with my 5yo daughter. Fingers crossed. I love your videos. Keep it up. Hope to be there one day. EDIT: Coming back across this vid and my own comment. update! I've got my chevy. It's not a shorty but it's an 83 Silverado 1500 I picked up for 800. minus an engine it's all there and straight. Only 2 small cash bill sized spots I could patch with a lunchbox (just humor. I'd never use a lunchbox lol) but here we are, and the story begins. I should start a KZfaq channel for the rebuild so she can watch the process when she's grown. Also, I love those roads around there. It's hard to find good winding canopied roads like that.

Hi Derek, I had a 79 Chevrolet Truckolator and had an engine miss that sounded similar to the one here. Did everything to it trying to get rid of the miss. The engine would purr like a kitten at idle and miss when the gas pedal was depressed. Now this engine only had 65,000 miles on it. As a last effort before throwing a grenade under the hood I called my brother an ex GM mechanic and he informed me that GM had bunch of soft cams that were put into the 350's. Sure enough it was my problem. Took a day had a new cam, lifters and timing chain installed and that motor ran another 150,000 miles and was still running strong when I sold it. Thanks for the content, Always brings a smile when you release a new video.

@@ViceGripGarage would be interested in buying that 79 if you pull the engine and transmission. pending price of course. be quite the drive to come get it. a 79 short bed with a beat body like that is what ive been looking for and in white makes it more of a bonus (for me).

Great episode! Love the square body stuff. I have no problem with the idea of you hauling them home, then gettin' em running. You're right to use the garage to avoid the ticks. Between them and the bird-size mosquitos you'll be down a pint of blood daily in your tree-row. Lastly, if you like the back-sweat in early June, you are gonna LOVE August! Welcome to the south!

Just discovered the channel. I've always had old cars and my job is a 300 mile delivery route 5 nights a week. As a student of the McGuiver school of "just make it work" mechanics, it appeals to me on every level. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've had to pull over and fix my car just enough to make it home using zip ties and duct tape, maybe a ratchet or two. I especially enjoy the "will it drive x miles" videos, great stuff.

I bought a sight unseen 87' R10 a few months back. Great price, hand delivered, "owned by a retired mechanic, tiny smoke on start up." Initially I was pretty upset, but then I accepted my situation thanks to this channel and dug into her. All the googling, youtube searches, later...I figured out so much about how a tbi runs and how to replace oil valve seals. Many many hours/months later and lots of stress, I always came back to this chanel and the zen it brings. VGG is the epitome of lord give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change. Love to you and yours. Thanks for keeping on.

that Warren G thang made my day. Great work on that square body. I have a c10 74, 3 speed manual, with a 230 on it in Argentina. No power steering and no break servo. Just like that one. Same grill.

I've been watching you for a while now and I love the c10s. I've been looking for my first truck which was a 74 with the same grille as that one. And you single handedly sparked a fire to get my 78 running.

When my step father took his 78 square body to a garage for plugs, oil change and tuneup. The owner was a tiny man and sat in the engine bay to change the rear plugs. My step dad didn't see him and shut the hood on him.🤣🤣
