Dispassion in thoughts helps as Ramana Maharshi points out. Also ask yourself, "if I am not the mind nor the body then who is the mind talking to?" I find that helps specially in meditation. And as the Tao Te Ching states, "the 10k things do not occupy the sage's mind." Great video Jason. Very valuable message

Nicely put. I meditate and think towards awareness *"You are aware of me."* "You [awareness] are aware of me [thought]". This was actually the statment that first revealed the witness to me. ===================== Or, inspired by Alan Watts, one can be meditated _by_ consciousness and treat awareness as the meditating Buddha or a Zen master and think towards awareness: *"I am your object of meditation."* "I [mind-emotions-body] am your object of meditation."

I remember when I heard this topic discussed between Russell brand & Michael A Singer, and he mentioned that you’re not the voice inside your head, you’re the one observing the voice inside your head. If it was your ‘voice’, you would be able to stop it. And also how breathing effects your thoughts. With slow, deep, and light breathing using your diaphragm (4sec inhale, 6sec exhale), your thoughts are noticeably slower and less consistent.

Do the below, it will drastically reduce your thoughts: At every breath inhale, instead of taking your normal inhale. You take 3 small inhales in its place.

I don't know if this could help anyone; i used to have trouble méditating because of the mind fussing around like crazy. I started medidating with open eye rather than closed ones, and it downregulated automatically. Then i realised this made me able to medidate whilst driving, or even working sometimes.

@@stormyn3249 meditation has nothing to do with sitting there and focussing on your breath. Medidation is a state of full awareness of the present moment which is compatible with any form of activity.

Very interesting. I have been practicing Dadirri. This is a contemplative practice similar to òpen awareness meditation with eyes open . To do this one is immersed in the Manifestations of the Dao. Thoughts become scarce as one tunes into the surroundings. It has been practise of the indigenous people of Australia for millennia. Dadirri is less intensely focussed than mindfulness and has survival value. Buddhist meditation is often narrowly focussed on blissfulness divorced from reality. A thoughtful piece! Thanks Jason.🌤🙏

After one of many visits to the local sensory deprivation flotation tank, I was walking back to my car & suddenly everything around me appeared to be in slow motion. I had the thought “my mind is empty” Of course relative time is a mind construct, but then there is timeless reality. As soon as the thought “my mind is empty” arose, the experience ended. I was back in the mind constructed illusory world.

It is possible, but you must access the "grand menu" of options that are available to you in your mind. One of those options is to quiet the mind, it is possible to quiet the mind, it thinks still, but only when you need it, you are able to access it with extreme clarity, and use it as you would use guidance from your ancestors. When the mind becomes unskillful, and races around, you recognize it for what it is, and observe it. Observed behavior is good behavior.

quite minds towards such, data upacking and transfer functions, getting angry at something small, getting angry at something big, the variace, gives the transfer function, it can be groked and understood algorithmically... thanks for the great post, add waves into the symbol of representational form... beyond symbols could mean just when things work out exactly, without the individual thinking, it may not mean the complete lack of symbols for all parties involved.

It was an altered state or something time didn’t exist either … there wasn’t a “me” to even notice there wasn’t a “me”there… it was over 5 hours before they (the words) started to slowly come back but I had to purposely put effort into it and they were transparent at first (I don’t have another way to describe it) I just woke up that way and that was after a full day and a half of my first “everything” (genuine 100% oneness experience) Also sometime in those 3 days my severe Crohn’s disease of 23 years and hypertension was just gone… But with all that I realized it’s the words that compromise our equinimity.. I suggest keeping a few melodies handy that you haven’t related to words or lyrics … Bach ,Beethoven , etc
