From a women that works in the oil field with ALL MEN. I had to work my ass off to prove myself. My interview was awful to begin with. They doubted my strength and ability to work as hard as the guys but I did it. I proved everyone wrong and can run everything on my own, drive and back up semis, I’m a boss at the fork lift, I carry 100 lb bags all day. We’ve had to fire men from not being able to keep but here I am, 2 years later working harder then 95% of the guys out there. It was hard. I would go home and curl up on the ground and cry from the anxiety but now my confidence is through the freaking roof and now I have the confidence to get into welding. My point is, you can do it if you have laser focus on your goal. I promise. You have to be able to get out of your comfort zone and apply pressure.

I’ve definitely had men come to me that I’m supposed to be training that think I don’t know anything. I usually just let them fuck up and force them to watch me fix it.

I am a female welder. I finished up my welding training in June 2020. Even though things were not operating normal because of pandemic the steel factory's were still going. The issues I run into are these people don't want to put women in the shops. I am very discouraged and ready to give up. I left the welding program with 5 job titles OSHA 10 forklift and the mind set to do it. I am working for a cleaning company. My pride is very bruised.

I am very sorry to hear that. There is not a single weld shop that will put you to work?

@@Welderbeast No not right now. They have went from 3 shifts down to 1 and just now started bringing back 2nd shift. I found a metal place called Consolidated Steel it is owned by a woman you would think hey there's my shot. She dont want to put females in the shop. I was about to give up but I guess I will start taking classes like technology and manufacturing side. I am open for any and all suggestions. I work for a cleaning company so I can eat. I just got out of prison doing 5yrs and that doesn't help. I want to give up sometimes but I can't. Something good will come my way. I am doing my best to be the good person I have grown into. I got OSHA 10 forklift thermal cutting and NCCRE certified. Small towns arw hard.

Tina Perkins right now and even in my past I came across many obstacles the same as you women were supposed to be washing dishes or cooking or in the health Care system stay focused and driven and whatever you want it's not going to be easy to get there and they're going to test you this whole journey that we have in life is just a test there is going to be plenty of assholes out there that will knock you down because you're a woman and tell you that you can't do that and you can't do this you have got to stand your ground put your Head up in the Air and be like f*** you all watch me move b**** watch me move I've seen so many people around my age and they had to work their way up the ladder and it didn't just come overnight you are capable of whatever you pursue I can tell that you have a passion for this and they cannot discriminate you because of your sex religion gender or anything there is actually a woman that made Forbes magazine she was in between Betty White and Barbara Walters she was just an ordinary woman who wanted to weld and she ended up being on the front cover as one of the most successful women in the world she followed her dream and opened a school up that specified it was only a womans School keep your drive and anything that's worth something great is never easy so keep on telling yourself that you can do it because you can it's just how bad do you want it

I wanna go to welding school so bad. I’ve watched so many videos of why I shouldn’t but I loveee the idea of welding and being able to have that skill. Plus I think the money is worth it.

Interesting to watch and hear. Really no competition for the woman welder/weldress. More competition for the man once they see the woman more than likely is better. You do your job or you don't and people see that. I think it impacts the men more than the women from my perspective and experience. People will always have something to good or bad to say. It's nothing new, women have been welding alongside men for generations before the internet. "The secret of joy in work is contained in one word - excellence. third place well said, it isn’t a new subject but certainly one that isn’t talked about enough since I still get requests from women welders to bring it up and start a conversation about it

TR!LL GAM!NG I never mind a good binge of my KZfaq videos, especially if they help you any. Good luck at South Coast, they seem like a pretty legit school from what I can tell. Let me know how your experience with them was when you get out of class

Idk how helpful it is to have another woman, who isn't a welder, tell other women what she would probably be afraid of going into welding. She's just saying what we're thinking without any other insight about what it's actually like?

They are better welders.. hands are lighter..and they are more meticulous in their welding.. problem is they have trouble lifting things to be welded.. even with all tools and equipment available..
