Homosexuality is a hot topic in Christian AND in non-Christian circles. Come explore this controversial subject with us.
A Message from Becket Cook:
"On September 20, 2009, I walked into an evangelical church in Hollywood for the first time. I was a gay man and a professing atheist. Two hours later, I walked out a born-again Christian who no longer identified as gay. That day, I had an extraordinary encounter with God. During the church service, God revealed himself to me and in an instant, I knew that God was real, Jesus was real, heaven was real, hell was real, and that homosexual behavior was a sin. All of this became so clear to me in that moment. I went from blindness to sight, from darkness to light on that beautiful day.
Since that day, I have lived as a single, celibate man. I still struggle somewhat with same-sex attraction, but I am more than happy to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow Jesus (Matt. 16:24). He is worth it! Everything else in this world pales in comparison to a relationship with him.
God saved me eleven years ago out of that life and then called me to seminary (Talbot School of Theology at Biola University). I now spend much of my time in ministry, speaking at churches, conferences, and universities to help Christians (and non-Christians) understand the issue of homosexuality biblically, theologically, and culturally.

I struggled with same-sex attraction in high school. I believe many disturbing variables in my life led to that attraction. Because of my personal experience with homosexuality it is a subject that I do not take lightly. Thank you for giving me an open forum to be able to explore and educate myself on what the Bible has to say on the subject. Remember, we’re all just walking each other home 🏡. There’s bound to be rocks & boulders that we have to navigate around on our journey to truth. Peace of Christ.

I love Becketts honesty and I could listen to him for hours. You did an awesome job interviewing him and I hope you two will do another episode of California Preaching in the future👍 God bless you both for exploring the subject. I think the molestation you endured contributed to it. I've seen that with women who have had severe sexual abuse by men they don't know what a healthy relationship with a man is and get no comfort from men cause they were associated with the bad in their lives. They can only get it through women. It was like that with a girl that worked at my company I was with years ago she wrote an article for the paper about it and it brought it all back to her and she had to take a leave of absence she had such a hard time dealing with the PSTD from the sexual abuse she endured as a child. I think God is teaching you to understand what your having a hard time wrapping your head around. California is a much more liberal society and it's harder to go against the flow when you live in a society that rejects God and all he teaches and commands. This subject has to be addressed and he is doing it the right way he is a walking witness to the gay community. God has taken these desires away from people and then giving them the attraction for the opposite sex. As a Christian it's never been an issue to me I've always believed it a sin but I can understand how that can be a struggle for Christians that weren't raised in the Christian church to have wrestled with this. But this is good cause the Lord knows what's best on how to teach each individual the way they can understand what he wants out of his chosen people! God bless y'all hope Billy's back gets to feeling better!

I was sexually abused at age 9, by a 14 year old girl, then at 14 by some neighborhood boys, also at 14 physically assaulted repeatedly by my mother's boyfriend, then at 17 back to sexual abuse by a male family member. Then for the next 20+ years tried to pretend that I had a regular childhood, until everything finally caught up with me.

I am a former homosexual . Throughout my journey I have discovered an intimacy with the Lord that is far more fulfilling that being a gay man.. Jesus held my hand leaving the lifestyle and took me on a better path of His wisdom, freedom, truth and understanding that answered my innermost questions. It's not been easy and there has been a lot of lonely nights but my reward along with folks like Becket will be beyond better than what we can imagine now. God turns all things around for our good so through my homosexual experience I applied His living word over my past and I am seeing it manifested. Thanks Chynna and Beckett for discussing this topic in truth. One of our most pressing issues in American culture today. We are the light in a dark world. I must say i had a praying Mama that did not accept me being gay but always loved me, her prayers were answered. She has seen me get married and have a son, buy a big house and become a great businessman. All this came after I said yes to Jesus and left the gay life behind. Thank God for praying Mama's!

Chynna, have you heard of Sam Allberry? He is a pastor and author who has same-sex attraction but like Becket is committed to following Jesus above all. I love this quote from Sam ... "Ever since I have been open about my own experiences with homosexuality, a number of Christians have said something like this: 'the gospel must be harder for you than it is for me', as though I have more to give up than they do. But the fact is that the gospel demands everything out of all of us. If someone thinks the gospel has somehow slotted into their life quite easily, without causing any major adjustments to their lifestyle or aspirations, it is likely that they have not really started following Jesus at all.” BTW, I love your channel!

I got to hear Sam in Oxford several years ago. He spoke on his book “Is God Anti-gay?” I remember him saying that if someone is homosexual, they have been a victim of abuse. Now you hear lots of celebrities like Ellen Degeneres talk about abuse when they were younger. I do think some young people are claiming to be gay that aren’t because it has gotten so much attention it has become somewhat of a fad.

Hello Chynna and Becket. 👋🏼 I so appreciate this topic. I've said in a previous comment that I have a gay son (24) who is transitioning to be a woman. 😪 I love him so dearly....with all of my heart and soul. He rejects the Gospel, but I try to keep being an example and planting seeds with love and of course praying with all my might that he meets Jesus. I will NEVER GIVE UP! As a mother, it's been one of the most difficult things I've dealt with because I want all of my children in heaven. I believe Jesus wanted me to hear this conversation. It came right on time. His word is the same, yesterday, today and forever. God bless and keep you both! ❤💜❤💜❤💜❤💜❤

I'm so glad we're talking about this. I have friends and family that are Gay. People that I love and care for. I am a Born Again Christian and I am a sinner. God does not see any sin as worse than other sins, at least that's what I believe. I am 50 pounds over. Weight. My cousin is gay, my sister is an alcoholic. And so on and so on...some of us just show are sins more loudly than others. I don't want to be a sinner, I strive to be more like Jesus I just don't think He sees being gay a worse sin than drinking one to many glasses of wine, or smoking a joint. He doesn't want us to do any of it, but he loves us just the same. As Christians there is a lot to give up but its worth it! Living and being loved by our Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit is so awesome! Love you Chynna 😘😘😘 God Bless you Becket😇😇😇

I agree with you but I also choose to strip out the “Christian” and “God, Jesus. etc.” portion of the conversation. Loving and supporting my fellow human being, showing respect and dignity, and modeling good behavior doesn’t need to be dictated by any type of supreme deity. We can admire and acknowledge the teachings and lifestyles of great religious teachers (Jesus, Buddha, Mother Theresa) but you should be driven by your own sense of self; that you do not have to be guaranteed immortality after you die, nor streets paved with gold, jewel encrusted crowns, or bird wings. To have loved, forgiven, and been open and kind to all living beings during your experience with living on this earth should be its own reward.

Finding your channel about a week ago, has been such a blessing. One of the things that has weighed on me the last few months especially is the lack of understanding people have of what Jesus accomplished. I believe our heart beliefs determine our behavior. Rather than focusing on behavior I don’t like in myself, I focus on the identityJesus has given me. My behavior will line up with what I believe. The Word says grace teaches us to say no to sin. People try to change their behavior or other’s without trusting God’s Spirit to complete the work He began.

watching this July '23 ... aw, and there's sweet Pokey just doing her thing in the background. :-) Thanks for this video. Our youth have become enchanged in Satan's lies ... nothing new in that, but TRUTH must be offered to this generation. Every day. Expose the lie and Know the truth - YES!!!

This is Not Dangerous, this is righteous. Thank you both for being so brave!!! It is not an easy thing to do in this day and time but you both do it with love and compassion. I was hesitant to watch, but this was so truthful! Thank you for standing up for the word of God! People should remember that no sin is greater than another, so don’t judge. Love and pray for people who continue to live in Any sin. I’m always on a journey as well, to learn. I grew up being taught about God was to condemn people. But as I grow older I see that we should love , while still standing up for the Word of God.

I saw Becket on a documentary, and his story touched my heart. I love that you are brave and courageous to bring him on your platform. My story includes my husband betraying me with same sex attraction during our marriage and Becket's story told me all I need to know. I understand the issue of same sex attraction so much better. Thank you for having him on. Keep speaking truth! :)

That was a heavy conversation. Although a much needed one I must say. I've often wondered and have asked these questions within myself about God & the gay person. I have family members that are bi & lesbian, but didn't know how to feel or think about it. We as Christians definitely need to be more open to discussion on topics we've been afraid or have avoided due to fear for whatever reason. Gods word is truth above all else. I really Love💞 your channel & appreciate the boldness✊🏾 Peace of Christ.

I appreciate this message. Gosh. Imagine looking in the mirror. Imagine searching your own heart or just agreeing with Gods word. Too often we are so caught up in our egos that all we can do is compare our sin or claim of "lack there of" to the next person.. and somehow imagine that's what God does. The moment we can acknowledge that gossip, jealousy, slander, envy, covetousness, lying, fornication, lust, greed, complaining (venting), laziness, gluttony...are sin,we can maybe truly then be free to daily walk closely with God through Jesus and spread the good news of the gospel 🙏🏿

Chynna I am so proud of you and Beckett...Here you are living in California land of live and let live and you are strong enough in your faith to tell the truth. I love this. I know many Gay people and love them dearly even some of my family members are gay. I told my nephew once to not let the fact that he was gay keep him from talking to God. I feel if they don't listen to us if they open up to God then the Holy Spirit will lead. And lots and lots of prayer. Keep up the good work Chynna you are awesome!!

Every time you have Beckett on your channel I learn SO MUCH. I'm beginning to see so many false narratives that exist around homosexuality that even Christians contribute to a little bit. Like, why do we know that Catholic nuns & priests can take a vow of celibacy & we accept that as an option? But, with homosexuality we're skeptical & think, "wait...what? Celibacy? That's an option? Gay people can't POSSIBLY do that!" Like somehow gay peoples' sex drive is beyond God's power. I have an aunt (devout Christian) who never married. Yup! 81 year old virgin! Christian churches everywhere HAVE members who never marry & choose Christ over sexual sin outside of marriage. So, yes, it is a REAL option, that God does honour. Thank you, Beckett & Chynna, for bravely discussing this in such an honest, loving way. What a lovely person you are, Beckett. God bless you & your ministry. Please visit Chynna's channel again.♥️♥️

Bottom line is you don't want people going to hell because you didn't share the truth. You didn't write the Bible..... I didn't write the Bible but if you love people, you will share the truth, in love of course. We can't glamorize sin and think we are doing the world a favor. I don't want someone's blood on my hands because I didn't want to share the truth. Lord, I need the truth spoken to me..... give me strength to give truth and ever more grace to receive truth. Amen

You are the real deal. I somehow landed on your channel a couple of weeks ago and I was blown away by your love and relationship with God. A rare commodity in celebrities today. I have jumped around viewing your various videos and when this particular one kept popping up, I did not want to view it because I truly felt you would follow the wide path and I would be so disappointed. I finally decided that I needed to know what you had to say and really thought it would be the end of Cal Preaching for me. So, so happy that you truly know, understand and follow God's Holy Word without compromising. Keep it up and may God bless your ministry. You both were so inspiring and I pray that souls were touched with understanding and truth. It is obvious that the truth means more to you than number of subscribers.

Well, if the truth be told, this is a subject that is very difficult. Jesus loves the sinner but not the act.
@jfoster1515
@jfoster1515 3 жыл бұрын
The act of sin doesn't go to Hell, the sinner does... God's love is genuine for sure, but to simply say "Jesus Loves", or "God loves", we also have to take into consideration a few things... If God's Love is unconditional, why does he tell us to repent...? Why are we called to The Cross to come to Jesus...? Unconditional love (from our own understanding) from God would mean that we could think, say, and do anything we want to do, and that's not how it is...
