Here's my thing: the Dark Aeons could've been a FASCINATING plot point. We know that the Farplane has been corrupted, so having the Fayth became so as well would have worked and provided for some extremely poignant moments of pain, reflection, and development for Yuna, as well as opportunities to expand (instead of defy) the world's lore and post-game evolution...but the developers utilized them as moments of action instead of emotion. Given proper contextualization, they could have made for some truly memorable and heart-wrenching bosses! But alas, we're left only to imagine better possibilities.

Hmm... I think if FFX had simply stood alone with no sequel, I would have been okay. Even with the teaser scene at the end with Tidus, I could have accepted it as a "leave it to your imagination" scenario. That said, I don't mind the base concept of X-2. Tidus is gone, Yuna doesn't quite know how to move on, the world is picking a fight with itself, and suddenly she sees a sphere that looks like him and this leads her to journey around for more clues - and of course, being the High Summoner, people are eager to wrap her up into their problems along the way. All of that is just fine for a plot for a sequel. I might have backed away from the whole, "the world is going to end" trope, because it doesn't *always* have to be the end of the world, but okay. Whatever. It's the whole pop music video feel that throws it all off. I'm not sure the audience would have wanted another emotionally-wrenching experience (especially if it couldn't live up to the first), but the fact that everything is a joke up until the last hours just knocks the wind out of the whole plot. Also.... the CommSphere chapter. Good lord, that absolute abomination of a chapter, forcing you to sit through endless dialogue and no gameplay. That's the kind of garbage you put in a game when you're padding for runtime - and what a dick move, making those scenes count for fractions of a percent of completion, and only if you sit through them fully. Just... wow. This is an example of something with a lot of good ideas in really awkward packaging. If Square had been given another year or two, I wonder what we would have gotten?

Aerospark, as listed by the wiki, deals damage equal to 5/8 of the target's remaining HP. So basically a Demi spell that you can't do anything about.

I recently fired up my old X-2 new game plus save to try to max all the Dresspheres and aside from Gun Mage (because getting all the monster techs is just annoying) the Trainer is all I have left since it's so painfully easy to miss... I'm kind of dreading having 3 Trainers out in battle at once after watching this.

I dont dislike that the Dark Aeons are in ffx-2, I just wish they went into why they came back instead of nothing

Just one question! Why don't you use the garment grids that give you access to other abilities and spells? Is it against your rules to change dressphere in battle to achieve all the bonus of the garments until you go back to the authorized dressphere? Btw, I know we all forget it easily, but Valefor's faith is a girl, so he is not a boy.

Matador Song and Jitterbug (evasion and accuracy songs) don't even need to stack, they go to 10 stages instantly. It saves you a lot of time compared to doing darkness dance all the time to avoid attacks. Also Garick ad his guards are not immune to stop. you can use the stop dance as well on them and save lots of time.

FF is good at not telling you anything. Similar to Battle Cry, you can stack stat boosts in FFX. Cheer, Jinx, Aim, etc. They stack up to 5 times and really help in certain fights.

I have had battles where Kogoro is stuck in one attack animation for like 2 minutes. If the enemy moves so much as a hair the hit doesn't count, and if it's a fast attacker it is almost impossible to hit.

Just to say for the fight against the ronso that they can get weaker if you give good answer to the ransos on the first two chapters. I remember when i fought them there was only 2 of them and i’m pretty sure there was some ability that they don’t use and maybe weaker in strengh

Short thing on Shell and Protect: If it worked to reduce damage on an attack you have the effect showing up around the character as you could see with Thor's Hammer. But yea Aerospark ignores any defensive abilities like the original Dark Ixion did^^

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think Paine had the issues of the pet missing as much in the trainer class. Since hers is a falcon and doesn't have to run. Glitching specifically. Idk if the accuracy changes.

I played this about a month after FFX recently and didn't mind the reused assets. I enjoyed seeing the same places again and fighting the aeons. Of course there is a lot in the story I dislike but overall I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Just really like Yuna as a character in both games.

If you ever do another run for this game you could do only magical or physical damage.

I think it is both cool and lame that they brought back the aeons. I think they did a good job with the writing, and how Yuna is concerned about all of them - but it makes sense to me that the aeons would go crazy since Vegnagun is in the farplane, and the temples lead there.

In Chapter 3 you can buy level 2 elemental black magic accessories from the shops and in Chapter 5 you can buy level 3 rings so you could maybe use that to boost white mage damage output

We kinda wanted to fight the aeons let's be real but they did them wrooooong. No plot relevance, not really spectacular fights until maaaaaaybe Shiva and Anima (I don't remember precisely what that did).

Rikku's pet can mug IIRC and Paine's pet has an insta death move, I know you're far into the game now but these changes might make the run a little easier for you.

Out of curiousity, what made you choose Yuna Trainer specifically? do you consider it the worst of the three? Since each character gets completely unique trainer skillsets and stat growths. though thinking about it myself a bit, don't think Ghiki and Flurry glitch/miss as much as Kogoro, though I always used Paine for trainer and its hard to miss with a bird.

I'll be honest, this run seemed too easy before since you had a solid DPS-Healer-Buffer lineup with the Gunner since guns actually do decent dps. There are numerous highend meta builds involving the infamous Catnip+Trigger Happy, even in later editions. Now the runs finally started the Trainer really does suck.

They should've made a faction that recreated the aeons as machina instead. For no other reason than... mecha-bahamut

I personally always liked tamer Payne, she was kinda usefull but It was soooo long ago, i dont remember very well, but i do remember that singer and tamer rikku where the absolute worst

the annoying thing about Shinra is he cheats the first time you do the spherebreak with him you can actually get him into a corner then he just pulls a chain out of his ass and wins. That's what I remember happening to me. unsure if I just got unlucky or if he's just a dirty little cheater.

I think this whole aeon thing would have been a tiny bit better if things get explained a little. I can't remember but I think it never get's explained where the dark aeons come from and why they are appearing all of a sudden, especially after everyone thought they are gone forever after defeating Sin. At least that would make it a bit better for me. And I also agree on the fact that Paine is used way too little in this entire game. We know nothing about her really and she kinda lacks of personality too. She is still somehow my favorite together with Lulu but it feels like they tried too much making Paine a copycat of Lu with all the grumpy angry personality. But even Lulu showed so much more with game progression and Paine... did not really

While you haven't mentioned it, have you been doing the side quests that let you get the skill books for the hidden dancer skills in chapter 5?
