With the trial scene. Even with the perks of being unsent, the maesters are still in the wrong. It takes a strong will/desire to return as unsent (ex. Auron, Seymour, Belgemine) and even if that's not general knowledge, it doesn't justify the amount of innocent people losing their lives just so things can remain the same. The undead maesters have no interest in change or moving on, and because of that, Spira isn't allowed to either. It's not only selfish but sad.

For the scene when they end up under the lake ice after the fight with the Wendigo, the party is actually on Sin's back. It's why they seem to be on a shallow surface. If you go into the game files, you'll see that the game model that they are on top of is actually sin. The more you know 😂

Something almost noone seems to know: Ixion's Aerospark-ability is functionally identical to Dispel and is your earliest source of the spell. Summoning it against bosses like Wendigo to remove the Protect and Shell-buffs is a viable strategy to make the fight shorter.

I actually really like how it feels to fight the guards and robots right after Evrae. You really feel like you just took down a Kaiju and now have to bull rush your way through a group of soldiers while you're down and out.

When you mentioned "Yuna was like a Paladin", the lightbulb in my head went off, and started assigning other relatable classes for the others, like I felt Lulu was a Redmage (Red mage could use black magic and white magic with an emphasis on status spells).

I always suspected deep down that Tidus was on to them during the cutscene where he says "RIGHT?!" in an angry tone, before Kimahri makes his famous quote. He had to have known something wasn't right. Which made that word the perfect choice for his dialogue.

Bevelle Temple is a really cool idea that was made extremely frustrating by bad execution.

I have done a couple of NSG runs, so I too always found it funny when Lulu came in using Thundara at the desert fight despite not knowing the spell. Also not sure if you know, but Evrae's poison breath is considered magical and the damage can be reduced by shell and focus as well. Also also; You can actually control what phase Seymour Natus is in by only attacking him when you want him to change phases and inflicting poison. As long as you just let the poison do the damage, he won't change phases until you hit him yourself. Technically, you could poison him at the start of the fight then do enough damage to trigger the break phase and have stoneproof armor. It's boring this way, but it is a safe option if you're struggling.

You're right that this challenge is not particularly difficult, but I'm jut enjoying your impression about the story and the edits. The lore in this game is very interesting but the presentation can be weird at times for sure

27:00 Not every one stays themselves when they die and are not sent. It's established in the story that only those that have a strong will to live (or some shit, I forget exactly :P) will stay themselves. The rest become fiends.

You may have found this idea overpowered or boring, but you can use a phoenix down to instantly kill evrae altana. You do go into this, but those who die in spira don't all get to just continue walking around. It isn't really talked about directly, but its pretty similar to the "maybe" you posed in the video. lulu mentions early on that all the fiends in spira are people who weren't sent. Only those with a strong will (and goal that requires a human form) are allowed to continue on in the way seymour and the others do. It is possible for these kinds of unsent to still become fiends later, or willingly release their own souls to the farplane, depending on changes in their mental state. the international version of X-2 incorporates this into its collectable fiends, as over time you can uncover the backstory of the people your captured fiends used to be. Unsent aren't actually immortal either. If an unsent is killed, they only revive again if their purpose for doing so is strong enough to necessitate coming back again. If Evrae and Evrae Altana are meant to be the same (its never stated) this would also imply that a fiend's resentment of the living can be strong enough to come back again, and its not just those who remain "human-like" who can do this. Regardless of that, the leaders of spira aren't interested in the spiral of death for its potential benefits to mankind, but for the unending control it gives them over humanity and the narrative of history, which is the real problem yuna and the others have with it. Seymour is both different and worse, as he uses his abilities as a summoner to absorb the pyreflyes of those he kills into himself (this is why seymour continues to get stronger and bigger each fight, as he is killing people along the way.) Because pyreflyes are essentially one's soul, kinoc can't come back after being killed by seymour, and that's seymour's goal for all living things. a permanent non-existence.

Like this concept. I really love seeing Yuna dish out so much physical damage. It would be really fun if they could actually change the look of their weapons. Just imagine Yuna carrying a big sword. Btw. I don't know if this is a common thing to do but when I played the game for the first time around 15 years ago, I made Rikku a mage. She had all the magic spells and even Holy. Can't remember if she did good damage though.

I'm loving this class change/job swap challenge I never knew you the Sphere Grid is connected to everybody the first time I played this game on PS2.

Everyone always thinks a challenge run has to be something crazy hard. Really it just has to be something different, and preferably fun. I don't like the challenge runs with crazy numbers of restrictions because I don't think they are fun. Ones like this would be insanely fun :D I would go as far as to change their base starting spots so they automatically are swapped in their roles and maybe changing their stats. It would change some points in the game where things woulda been more difficult. Imagine Tidus and Auron at the start but Tidus having white mage stats hahaha, would make it way more difficult to get through the start and Baaj.

I know you aren't using overdrives now, but thought I'd mention the sand worm enemy is actually vulnerable to the "Eject" status, which Auron's Shooting Star overdrive inflicts. Not useful for this run, but very funny to see and I highly recommend doing at least once lol.

when it looks like evrye roars, that's it inhaling. it you select the trigger command "move back", the breath will miss you. if you stay back until Cid's next turn, he'll fire missiles. but if you stay back too long, evrye will use a swooping scythe attack.

Someone probably already said this but the limit for something like focus or cheer is 5 times basically 20% boost each time. In 10-2 they added a display showing how far along a buff is

I recently beat FFX with my main party of Yuna - Buffer (Tidus Path), Kimahri White Mage (Yuna Path) and Tidus Warrior (Auron Path). Was the first time I fully beat FFX and it was amazing. Interesting to see how you have been playing through the game. I basically had to have my Aeons carry me the entire game. I think I ended up underleveled a lot though. I often had to turn off encounters to get to a save point so I could be a good point to quit/turn off the Steam Deck. I would always do a lot of random battles when I returned to the game though. Looking at your gameplay... my characters had such low compared to yours. I must have skipped more fights than I thought.

I've always wanted to do a run like this but have never committed to it! Super fun to watch.

@17:15 I recently found it weird the way the ship is animated in this scene. It's cool and all, for sure, but the way it's jostling about, getting spun around, the people inside there would be dead from being thrown about. It's one of the coolest scenes in the game just from how it portrays the airship's weaponry, but as I've grown older I'm thinking about the people inside, and how much they'd all basically be jelly with how much that ship just threw them from those "small" wobbles.

So fun to see Melee Lulu and Yuna in early game! I love watching Lulu's moogles smack the shit outta things Yeah it's a shame but I've found most of the time in FF Mages are kinda of bad after a certain point. Like in the case of this game endgame is everyone maxing out strength and just using quick hit with B DMG limit to hit 99999 and not a magic spell to be cast ever again. They just never really seem to give magic the same tools to compete with physical. Magic is just more about being flashy or cheesey osmosis strats at best for early to mid game or challenge runs. I haven't played every Final Fantasy though so maybe there is one out there where magic truly gets to shine someone can inform me of. And yeah of course buffs/debuffs are important but after a certain point most gear will give you all the things you need by default (auto haste) or an item can do it for you Also side note as a kid I had NO IDEA you coudl find anyone besides Auron cause I just took the most direct path so I was like where the heck did Kimahri and Lulu go lol I still remember it everytime I see someone go through the via infinito

I'm confused as to how basic story elements of this game - that are literally explained in cutscenes as early as Kilika, are going right over your head in this playthrough. I know you're not really playing it for the story right now, but if you're not focusing on the story, why are you commenting on it, especially on aspects such as 'why are the summoners trying to have people not die'. If you need a refresher, I know an amazing 4-hour video that explains every single element of the story. I've watched it twice and love it so much. There are as close to zero plotholes in this game. The lore is tight, and everything they put in is there for a reason.

I'm doing a similar run right now, except Tidus is Lulu Lulu is Tidus Yuna is Wakka Auron is Rikku Rikku is Aaron Wakka and Kimahri are Yuna (except I have Kimahri go down all side paths without intersecting into other people's paths, while Wakka doesn't sidetrack unless there's magic-related stats, so he gets the higher level spells a bit sooner while Kimahri shines with his great stat spread for the path.) You mentioned your mages not doing so well, but the further I've got in the game, the more I've been relying on them for massive damage output 😳 like, I used a Black Magic sphere to get Drain into Kimahri, and it's honestly been OP at points due to Yuna's path giving so much magic. Having multiple people with steal has also been very helpful. I'm really glad I came across your challenge run, it's just the right amount of spice to get me interested in another attempt to try to play all the way through ... and, I'm actually about to face Sin! I've never got past the Calm Lands before, so this is huge for me. So thanks for sharing this run with us. I grew up with this FF being my least favorite due to the cheesy writing/delivery at points, but this might be my favorite now with how much the story has resonated with me.

Actually it's been confirmed basically that when they fell into the Macalania Lake, they fell on top of Sin. Those ruins are the ones on top of his head. He transports them to Bikanel.

Legit really enjoying this, the added humour really helps because this format is done *so* much but it's literally just a guy reading off his script with nothing breaking it up and it becomes really easy to just.. zone out. The jokes keep it fresh. Keep it up my dude, you got my sub.

25:55 while I can agree that might have some significance like "my friend from my hometown" vibes. Also the probable reason is it is the only one at that point that can fly. Valfor was always Yuna's only summon to be featured outside of battle. Unless you count the Fayth forms.

You inspired me to do a similar challenge, however i wanted a true character swap experience So i used the all items cheat to get 99 of everything, but the only one im really interested in is warp spheres. To keep the game balanced, i kept 7 of those, then sold everything you're not supposed to have to the besaid merchant, and gave all my money (almost 6 million) to o'aka on the ride to kilika. The only benefit I'm getting on my playthrough is the best available o'aka shop inventory. It's not perfect but it's the best solution i found. As for the character swaps, here's what i ended up with : Tidus > Wakka > Rikku > Yuna > Lulu > Auron > Kimahri > Tidus

I'm honestly surprised by how much this challenge has affected the game up until now, but I would have set a rule that characters are NOT allowed to use abilities from their original class (so no black magic with lulu, no white magic with yuna, no skills or haste with Tidus, no skills with Auron and Wakka, Lancet is fine for everyone, steal and Use feel wrong on Rikku for this challenge but I usually put Kimari into the rikku path anyways soo... idk). But I'm glad to see the things that can be done with the existing game's systems.

"I don't know why it's so funny when this game tries to be emotional" Because it's still mostly being done with canned animations that make the scenes look like a kid trying to act out Romeo and Juliet with action figures.

Glad to see the series continuing, also some lil notes: You could've made Evrye's fight a lot easier by using Tidus's Teigger Command in order to deal masdive damage to him And Seymour's fight is a lot easier if you constantly attack his buddy due to him absorbing Seymour's own HP to heal itself leading to Seymour dying earlier Besides that I'm loving the challenge, hoping to see how all will end and hoping you do a lot more challenge runs! ❤

Hey I meant to comment this on the last video so sorry for being too late to be helpful to you. If you steal from the Guado in the windego and Seymour fights, they stop healing. You take the high potion they use, so they just die.

If you use steal on the guado, they can't use potions, that's why the second guado didnt heal in the Seymore fight, you stole his potion. Hope this helps!

To throw a little more light on the Yevon Trial Scene: Yuna and her guardians were put on trial because they killed Seymour in Macalania. Of course it's a little confusing that Seymour is right there, but it's because he's an unsent. When people die they usually turn into fiends, they don't really stay in their normal human forms/bodies. Only those with very strong wills and bonds to the world of the living remain as an unsent (eg. Seymour wanting to become Sin, Maester Mika not wanting to give up his power as a leader, Auron fulfilling his promise to Jecht and Braska to keep their children safe etc.)

Nice run, good job! Just a little tip: you can steal from the guado guards. Then, they "don't have anymore potions", and they can not auto heal anymore!

You missed a prime comedic opportunity. After the line about singing with the al bhed over their home getting blown up, instead of the explosion sound you should've followed it with wakkas line, 'Boom! Like happy festival fireworks ya?' I woulda laughed so hard.

I was wondering how you were going to handle the Evrae fight, I was not disappointed. However, I think the fight was designed to have you move away when Evrae gets ready to use his Poison Breath and come back in when he gets ready to use his Photon Spray or whatever the attack is called. Valefor saving Yuna makes sense since she is the only Aeon that can fly at this point that Yuna has.

This challenge run reminds me so hard off primal liquids overpowered early series but like the polar opposite. i always loved switching roles around in ff10 but never went hard into polar opposite directions. i would love to see you going for full potential on this playstyle later on in the run.

Best way to kill the giant worm. Steal the Shadow Gems, use the Shadow Gems. Half the HP gone in a blink. Best way to kill the giant wyrm, use Reflect on them. Haste bounces back to you, no speed for them. (To deal damage, just Reflect bounce. Same for Slowing them again. Neat tricks for dragon wimps.)

The strongest attack on Evrae Altana is actually just phoenix downs or a Life. It only takes 2 phoenix downs to K.O. it if I remember correctly. 10 yr old me read the prima guide during all my school lunch breaks 😂
