You could do this but permanently give yourself the Minus Draw debuff from Time Eater, that way you aren't drawing cards at the start of each turn. You could also give yourself the no draw debuff from Battle Sense or Bullet Time, and that way cards that draw stuff wouldn't do so, but generated cards would still get added to your hand. You could make it so you are allowed to play any cards you get at that point, because the only ones you have would be generated.

Maybe instead of anchors would be better to add watcher's vault in the opening hand (so you do not wasting first turn)

My theory for True grit not being upgraded. Mayhem forms a queue, where it removes your cards out of the deck until they are played, then puts them back into it. In the beginning of the Turn apotheosis was played you see it was the 2nd card in queue, 3rd was Curse, 4th was a defend, and 5th was True grit, both were not upgraded after Apotheosis being played.

Dude I wanna see you run this again, that was fun to watch. It makes deckbuilding so much different and arguably more important, do another of these please Frost!!

Frost does some crazy and interesting shenanigans, but this was easily the most fun one yet. I loved it!

Since you usually end up playing way more than 5 cards in a turn, I'd say every energy relic should give you +1 bottled mayhem. This does seem like a great idea for a mod tho, make a few custom relics that each character starts with, maybe 1 that makes your natural draw 0, 1 that gives 5 mayhem at start of combat instead of having to bother with all the tornado bottling and anchors (replace energy ones with those that give +1 mayhem as well so it scales more smoothly).... Maybe make it so turn 2 onwards you stop drawing normally, but you retain your turn 1 hand for the duration of the fight as a bit of extra control over the battle? That way draw cards end up being fairly viable as well, as a way to help you refil your controlled cards (or fill your hand with cards you don't want in the auto rotation, while playing those you want)

When it comes to why true grit didn't get upgraded, I think the reason is because when you play a card, there's a moment that it's not in your hand, not in your discard pile, not exhausted, it's just in limbo. Like, when you click on a card and drag it around, when you release click and it plays, it's like on the battlefield or something as it stays on your screen, then goes to your discard pile. Then, cards like apo that interact with your whole deck don't interact with cards in that state

i think bottled strikes, defends and powers that put you on a clock (wraith form, biased cog) would be really good way to stall cards since you're not allowed to play them on turn 1 and putting them on your discard pile instead

I havent tried it out, but theres a mod on the workshop for STS called BattleAIMod - STS Autobattler, thats listed as an AI that fights for you, you still make all the decisions on your pathing, and events and such. would be interesting to see a vid on.

For a mod implementation idea, since most boss relic are useless and snecko eye is op, you could make it that after each boss you get one extra bottle mayhem and extra card draw on first turn in order to get a satisfying sense of progression

With all those inate powers I am surprised that there was no bird faced urn waiting rooms.

Wish I knew how to mod. I think you could just make a relic to give you -5 Draw, 0 energy, and Mayhem Buff 5. I think it would trigger turn 1 too so no need for anchors. So if you get draw and energy for some reason, you can play them. Maybe even do, Mayhem buff = Energy+1. Act 1 you mayhem 4 cards and can grab an energy relic to get more.

Autobattler Class Mod that does the same at the start except you also get to choose the 1st 10 cards & you get Prismatic; also to include some way to increase cards played per turn.

I think the age old, “just get good” applies here

We need a modded relic. Energy leftover at the end of the turn plays the top cards of your deck, regardless of type. For full auto battle mayhem. Perhaps the first card uses one, second 2, third 3 and so on. Then 21 energy leftover plays 6 cards at the end of the turn for free. And X cards will get X= cards played instead of total leftovers.

It would be really cool to see a mod implement this as an actual thing. Like, start combat with 5 mayhem (the effect of the card), have zero draw per turn, and then have stuff like sneko (or energy relics?) give you more mayhem. That way, powers can’t cycle through your deck without being played, as you aren’t drawing them into your hand and stuff. Not sure what to do about x-cost cards though… guess they’ll always be playing for 3+ energy or smth???

12:41 I've had this interaction happen before when I used Distilled Chaos to play Apotheosis and two other cards, which did not get upgraded. Evidently cards that are autoplayed are not "in" the deck so they don't get played. Seems like a bug to me, it doesn't really make any sense.

Modding a relic that applies 1 mayhem per energy to your character on the start of a battle seems enough for it to work. Depending on how effects are applied on the first turn, you can try to have another relic to play cards on your first turn. Dunno how hard it would be to make it, but seems like it could work following this logic.

I did this on the defect and I found a pretty broken combo. I got icecream early on and thought that it would be useless. I then found a multicast and realised that it didn't consume the energy. There was a turn where I casted a 50 damage dark orb 30 times. Even without icecream I think X cost cards a pretty busted.

I really want to see a slay the streamer version of this, just to see if chat could beat the spire

We need a modder to make this for us but without the janky setup. Maybe make some way that you're building the deck for every character during the run and mess around with combat systems to make fights balanced for multi-character battles!

Does Mayhem work even if your hand is full? If so, what about adding a Runic Pyramid at the start and filling your hand with unplayable cards? So there's never any "dead draws" putting cards you can't play in hand. I'm not sure if you can add cards mid fight tho or how to do it automatically after playing all Mayhem.
