This run was a punish but I finally pulled it off! I planned to record the "Easy Mode" route in this run but it would have hit 2 hours. I'll drop it at a later date :)
As mentioned in the video, this run can be optimised A LOT as this was a semi-blind run. I'm keen to see how things played out for those of you trying it for yourselves.

In case nobody has explained it, the logic behind fusing Elegant Egotist and one of the Horn cards to get the Tri-Horn Ritual card is cuz Elegant Egotist lets you turn one Harpy Lady into Harpy Lady Sisters, a monster made up of three Harpy Ladies bassically. So, I guess the logic is that you combine Elegant Egotist with a Horn to turn that one Horn into three horns.

I've played this game on-and-off for over 20 years and never summoned a Ritual monster. The amount of game knowledge necessary to pull off this playthrough alone is pretty crazy, and I don't even want to think about the patience that must be required. Well done

IMO the fact that neither the game nor the manual tell you how to do it makes me think of microtransactions. Like, it's in the game, but unless you buy the guide, you can't access it. Of course, you can look it up online, but back in 1999 that was a LOT harder than it is today. Back then, even having a computer with a working internet connection was relatively rare. That's why Bill Gates giving every library a computer was such a massive deal back then. It probably did way more good for the country than many would expect at first glance.

I don't know if someone else commented this, but in regards to Sadin's blue clothing, Egypt is actually really famous for their blue dye. Iirc egyptian blue is one of, if not the first, blue dye ever recorded in history. It has a lot of cool properties, and is even used in some forensic science today.

Lapis lazuli is something only the wealthiest could have access to; it's why Royalty is said to have blue blood

@@seighnobos Yep, for the most part of history blues were expensive. The vast majority of people until just a few hundred years ago had to get Lapus Lazuli or Azurite from around what is now the Middle East. However, Egyptian blue was a synthetic pigment formed from silica, lime, copper, and an alkali to form calcium copper silicate. We believe it was still fairly expensive, but it was incredibly prominent throughout Egyptian items, and even reached other areas within the Mediterranean coasts. Though, Sadin’s clothing would’ve probably not been blue. As the pigment was used primarily on stone, wood, plaster, and other non-fabric materials. Most likely the pigment would be very hard to take into a fabric.

@@rodeofrancisco6130 i played it a lot and as far as i recall, exodia pieces were actually the only limited cards, the game itself wouldn't even allow you to try adding more than one each to the deck.

@@Jon_Oh its probally possible the fact u can do it with ritual monsters. the only downside is u need to use like lots of strong monsters with 3000 atk with plenty of equips like blue eyes or ultimate great moth or thunder dragon or meteor black dragon. then stall until exodia

It's funny how Forbidden Memories rituals act more like real YGO fusions (specific monsters needed to bring a new one) while FM fusion works like YGO rituals (use monsters that follow a general criteria to bring a new one)

@@youtubeuniversity3638 Idk how Link works, but it has nothing to do with XYZ. XYZ uses 2 or more of monsters of a specific level. Forbidden Memories' rituals use specific monsters, as in literally you cannot use the ritual unless you have monsters with those names on the field, which is the same as regular YGO fusion.

This game has WAY more depth than I thought, every other youtuber I've seen cover Forbidden Memories only really talks about the bizarre mechanics and how good Twin-Headed, Raigeki, Dark Hole and other staple cards are.

Ritual decks at least granted me monsywrs over 1800 atk. Other types do not so there will definitely be more D-tier decks

@@jean-1009 What would make it literally impossible? Like, you could get a Blue Eyes Ultimate off of pocket station and take him out with that, if you get lucky enough that he doesn't draw his own. But even discounting that, if you stock up on enough powerful traps to take out the powerful enemies then a Twin Headed boosted with Umi could theoretically get the job done.

There is only 3 widespread ruins, and there is many monsters that have more atk than THTD (agate Guardian, Ultimate Blue Eyes Dragon, Perfectly Ultimate Moth, Meteor B Dragon) even with Mountain or Umi

Darklord Zerato is a possible outcome of Warrior of Zera's story after he becomes an Archlord (or at least one of the lesser Fairy forms Zeradias Herald of heaven or Angel of Zera) as the Darklord archetype in Japanese are "Fallen Angels" and in the background of Darklord Zerato's art you can see structures that resemble the Sanctuary in the sky in ruins

The reason why is simple, it checks base attack 1st, then if the field gives them an advantage 1st, then checks if they are set spells or traps, and if the attack will give them a win, it doesn’t check for equip cards, and guardian stars until after that step, so they may just ram into your cards and beat themselves.

I think they use Elegant Egotist to fuse with the horn cards to make the ritual because Elegant Egotist's effect is to triple one harpy into three so when fusing it it triples the one horn into three. Crazy run, I've never pulled off a single ritual and you did a whole game.

They managed not only to make ritual summoning nigh impossible without a guide, but also made a terrible summoning mechanic EVEN WORSE than it ended up being in the real game. That's impressive, to be honest. I can't imagine how awful this would be if you also drew 1 card per turn lol

loving these playthroughs, as someone who has put almost as many hours into playing (and speedrunning 15-card mod at one point) this as i did the actual tcg when i used to compete it is great to see some of the more intricate mechanics on display. also your nicknames for simon never cease to make me laugh. I vote for pyro type next as a bit of a medium difficulty challenge which could be very interesting in late game

23:36 slight addition to the trivia! It's also available in The Sacred Cards. In that game, MoSaD requires Mask of Darkness and 1 other monster on the field to be tributed before you can activate the ritual spell, which summons MoSaD out of thin air.

Normally, my vote would have went with machine to Bandit Keith your way back through the list tournament duelists, but if there is any chance for a zombie Halloween, that'd be pretty killer. I think you deserve a break after this one, so I'm going to request a Dragon type run with full access to the pocket station cards. Of course it can be done. It's probably the easiest run to do. So the question then becomes, how quickly and efficiently can you do it?

I fluked rituals trying to put in a password for millenium shield and ended up with its ritual card. I did the same thing with the notebook!

Rituals really got done dirty in this game, huh? It's like they combined the worst parts of the base games fusions (needing specific monsters), rituals (needing a specific spell card), and synchros (needing the monsters to be on the field).

That one will be such a long video to make! The problem will be that i don't believe its actually possible without a specific RNG seed Opponents need to make 2 fusions minimum for a deck out to be possible and your limited to 1 card per turn. Even if my entire deck was BEUD, a duel with Niitemare would need him to make a Sanga + Dragon or a Red eyes + Meteor dragon fusion. To even have those cards in the deck is like a 0.78% chance per card

At first I thought this run was going to even rougher early on, but when I saw Cosmo queen is one of the first ritual monsters you can even get access to at least you had something worth all the hard work keeping multiple weak monsters on the field. it is kind of neat the ritual summoning animation use different colors if your insane enough to bring the monsters out through ritual. Crab turtle best ritual boi.

I was fully expecting a game like forbidden mem to only give the ritual monsters that aren't even 2k or maybe even millennium shield if we are feeling spicy at the start of the game and tell you to have fun. There is an argument to made that be kind of them if that was the case as the games trying to stop you from trying to ritual summon early or at all. At least there's the only positive to ritual summoning is you can attack with all the monsters you piled onto the field than get another attack when you do the ritual.

I think a fun challenge would have been for you to summon at least each ritual monster once, winning the duel in which it was summoned. It could have been done against any opponent. Can YOU summon Hungry Burger and win?
