What Jeff Jones did is equivalent to what chess great Paul Morphy did. He was so good that he eventually quit playing because there was nobody who could challenge him. If he did accept a challenge from someone, though, he would offer odds (pawn odds, for instance) which essentially created a win-win kind of situation. If Paul won while giving odds, his greatness was more recognized. If he lost to a master while giving odds, it did nothing to his reputation. TLDR; Jeff Jones is a chess grandmaster.

I was behind the cameraman to the right. Nizar and blake did another match after the camera turned off for money, and blake won that match with a mind control taking utopia going into utopia ray going 4000 swinging twice.

There are people like nizar at almost every locals I've went to. What I've learned is that those people are in their own world. If you shatter the world, they either become a better person socially, or an enemy for a ridiculous amount of time.

I played with Kevin Silva for a long time. We actually had a “team” for a short period. In like 3 regionals between the 4 of us we had like 7-8 top 8’s at so cal regionals in that short window (we were all teenagers then). I learned about this beef because of this video. As I stopped playing after that regional run and came back for one last event at ycs anaheim in 2011 (won the day 2 regional pod for my invite). Kevin was always a confident player and no surprise he won whatever the arg thing was (no clue since I left). He always wanted to play the best and he wanted to be known. As many of us did at the time. But hope your good Kevin as I haven’t seen or heard of you since 2011. Jeff jones was always a huge figure in the game. I know when we were younger we’d always say one day we’d be better or beat them. So I know that was always Kevin’s intention. Just as it was mine. We grew up playing the likes of Adam corn, emon when we were kids, and all the comic odyssey players. Kevin would travel from near San Diego to Los Angeles for events. He was all in. Maybe just caught up in the moment of his rise. I think he could’ve just been himself and could’ve grew. He really saw the game well. Always had good deck builders with him since it wasn’t his strength.

Blake definitely earned game 3, but does anyone else think it was shady of him to top deck Kizan in game 1 after drawing a seventh card? That influenced the game in his favor and he should have shuffled his deck after putting it a card back.

Actually it weeds out the week. If you're playing for pride you're playing at the level that you need to to keep winning. It forces you to adapt and it forces you to aggressively play into that type of person. You don't have to play for pride but a healthy rivalry is what everybody needs that is how you elevate one another that's how every sport does it. Fight for it insult one another and prove that you're the best

I only played Yugioh briefly from around 2011 to 2013, and around the time I started playing seriously Legendary Six Samurais just came out was like the goat deck I remember. I had the unfortunate experience of playing against Legendary Six Sam during the brief period where Gateway wasn't limited. So even if I don't play much Yugioh anymore, I still felt the chills down my spine when I saw him take out Gateway of the Six from the deck.

I do think that these types of duels would be nice to see more often. The issue is people probably don't know when people are just trying to "pal around" or not anymore.

After Six Sams were neutered by the ban list by having Shi En limited, and taking out the gateway while taking on a Tier 1 deck like Dino Rabbit made this match even more memorable.

Reminds me of a time back in 2014. Parker Kemp, number 2 player at the time in Indy. Didnt really know the fella played hard like that, so it was a tournament and I had no idea who he was. He was playing a Blue-Eyes Skill Drain with the solo Dragon Rulers. Man sided in ALOT of light counters (Light imprisoning mirrors and D.D crow or something to hit my grave) and I was playing some odds and ends, 43 card Constellar Deck with 2 Cyber Valley as some "key" defense. That Cyber Valley honestly won me the duel. I mopped him first round, he sided and won the second then we went to time on round, last table and on turn 3 of 5 to end the game. Had a crowd around us and I remember I was dead tired and again did not know who he was. Felt cringy afterward cause my nerd friends said it was the anime moment of all time. We slowly weathered eachother away till I topped that Cyber Valley. He attacked it, Cyber Valley ended the battle phase and got me 1 card in hand. Had Kaus, Sombre and my draw phase as soon as I say the Dark Hole... "This game.. is over" Everybody lost their everloving shiz. I just thought it was an intense duel but apparently he had alot of friends at that table. Pretty much being a nobody that played tournaments for fun. The owner of Midwest Gamez said "Sometimes even the best have to be brought down to earth" and I had no idea till my friend told me who he was. No lie, two years later he was still talking about it. Pointing me out to his friends and mentioning that duel. These higher ups have heavy egos. The owner was right. Sometimes they do have to be brought down to earth
