We recently went down to Britpart HQ to see how the worlds biggest Land Rover parts distribution centre keeps up with demand. While we were there, we met their ambassador, Jimmy de Ville and he walked us round this awesome 90 which is built with 90% of Britparts own product. And it was awesome!

Let's hope the words are true because there's a big reputation to overcome. I don't buy the kits, because the swivel may be good but the seal and bearings may be cheap and generic. I prefer to select my own branded parts. If Britpart stop putting parts in their own box then I would have more confidence in what I'm buying. Britpart are usually the lowest price, but I want to spend more than lowest price with better certainty. Hopefully they will produce a mid range price point with the better quality they talk about. Unfortunately though with the demise of Allmakes and Bearmach, they now have little competition and that is usually worse for consumers. Fingers crossed

Agree. I bought the swivel and bearing kit and ended up supplementing bits. The simple things like the bearing nuts that are black with the cheapest black spacer you hold the nuts in place with. I also noted how good their doors looked. Mine were bend to fit.

I know everyone slags off Britpart, but I have a long and wide experience with their parts, 99% of them are good, and prices are very good. The fact is Britpart keeps Land Rovers alive. If it was only genuine parts, then ,ost would be scrapped long ago. So stop slagging them off, and appreciate what they do, it's not just cheap Chinese rubbish, to make a quick profit, they do actually listen to the market and care about their products.

Apparently Britpart is officially endorsed by Land Rover now? When you buy a new part you expect it to be fit for purpose and last for a reasonable time, but from my experience their rubber door seals were way too hard to allow the doors to close, the rubber swivel gaiters break up after a year, and I had two speedometer cables that never even worked. I complained a few times, but offering to send me another item with exactly the same problem doesn't solve the quality issues. There's also no consistency (but if you are lucky you might get some of the old Bearmach stock). 😊

Shame that QC doesnt catch the rubber parts that go ripe and break in a year when the original parts lasted 25!

Has anyone noticed how eBay sellers prefer to show Britpart items without the box and listing them as 'unbranded'? Basically this means people are SO put off by the 'Britpart experience' they would rather risk buying an 'unbranded' item! Jimmy de Ville should be taking serious notes at this point....

The defender, for me, is like football, very popular, but I can't understand why. But, each to their own, who am I to argue with the enthusiasts! L322 Range Rover for me. However, I think Britpart products are a lot better now than people give them credit for.

After a break from my Landrover, I was gutted to see the rugged guide had stopped then found you here lol. Do you still offer upgrades or are you only a parts/video only these days?

So go on then, with Defender prices and obviously no new ones being made, Would it actually be anywhere near economical to build a brand new car and SVA test it? Maybe with a 'new' Td5/V8 and gearbox based on old casings only. If I had the spare money I'd give it a go and see how it stacks up against a Grenadier, for fun if nothing else.

If you were to build a Defender using new parts it would see off a Grenadier without breaking a sweat. The grenadier isn’t off to a good start. Dealers are already discounting demonstrators because they can’t shift them.

They are obviously trying to improve the quality with all their testing equipment but the damage may have already been done to change the mind of some previous parts buyers. I'll admit the genuine LR stuff is grossly overpriced but it the job requires some degree of complexity, why on earth would you cut corners and buy potential inferior cheaper parts?

Back in the no BS real world I had two replacement britpart door lock mechanisms one after the other neither of which worked correctly had to wait while they were sent back to britpart to be tested (two weeks climbing out the passenger door) gave up got a refund and fitted a used 34 year old one , worked perfectly.......

Aything with `Brit' and its synonyms in its name or its products plastered with the union flag (E.g. Swift caravans), makes me very nervous. It often means that they are trying to compensate for something and more often than not, that usually means poor craftsmanship or workmanship. To be fair, I haven't heard of Britpart before, so I reserve judgment on them, but reading the comments, it seems that they too once had the reputation that I suspected it may have. I am willing to give them a go as any such parts supplier are an invaluable resource for someone like myself living overseas, providing they don't get freaked out if they have to write a foreign address and send overseas as so many UK companies do and their computers invariably say 'NO'.

they've built a bad name in the british scene from utter shite, sadly there is no middle ground replacement parts manufacturer its either oem mad money or shitpart lasts a year if you get lucky but as defender move from cheap trucks to expensive investments it does seem their parts are moving towards a more middle ground compromise between quality and price

So many poor quality parts in one place. The garage I use won't use Britparts. Shame, as it's obviously a big UK company.
