A GREAT question I've been getting lately is whether or not you can have sodium/salt during your fasting window. In this video I explain.

Thank you for your video! I like to lick a chunk of Himalayan Salt😂. I had to buy an entire bag so it will last me my lifetime but it comes in 1”-2” chunks. I keep the rock in a small dish on my table and when I’m feeling the hunger pangs of intermittent fasting I have a lick, lol,lol! Strangely satisfying and although it may sound odd people.......lol, don’t knock it till you try it!! Glad to get confirmation that it’s not knocking me out of my fast!

After moving to a 24 hour fast on the sixth day I noticed that I had an elevated heart rate (about 15 bpm) and I did not feel very good so I ate a small amount of chicken broth (8 table spoons) and my symptoms almost completely disappeared. Chicken broth has essentially nothing in it except salt. So based on that I going to assume that what I needed was salt. I'm sure I still need more now. Symptoms; elevated heart rate, feeling run down, insomnia and lower (than normal) blood pressure.

Thanks, great simple and clear! so Micronutrients break fasts but not minerals? Has to do with how the body reacts and nothing about what comes in then? What about apple cider vinegar seen from that angle? or lemon juice, is there a trigger point, which can then vary depending on each individuals sensitivity?

How much salt do you add? Also does the water have to be warm?
@mrmoe110
@mrmoe110 3 жыл бұрын
@@Willpower1213 no water doesn’t have to be warm. But I only drink room temperature water so cold water will probably keep the salt from dissolving. I keep a gallon jug and just add a few sprinkles of course pink Himalayan sea salt. Enough to taste but not so much that the water gets salty. It kind of has that “salty” taste that Gatorade or Powerade have if you know what I mean. Be careful though. Too much salt will have you feeling like you took a laxative 😳

I do a 20/4 intermittent fast almost daily while at work in a mine. I have access to a lot of water and only take pink salt in the morning when I first wake up, about 1/2 teaspoon. Bringing extra salt underground can be hard to package right for my water jug, gets moist and contaminated quickly. Started bringing in a small plastic container and realized that was just bad. Glass will break etc etc. Anyone recommend what I could take in my 20 hour fasting window that is convenient enough to take in a back pack full of my other foods that won’t break a fast? I salt my foods very generously too in my eating window. Can I take my electrolyte B complex, zinc and magnesium together without food? Would that be enough and will they break my fast. Any good salt tabs to recommend?

Could it be just common "table" salt (sodium chloride)? Or does it have to be Himalayan salt or something like that? If so, wouldn't one retain liquids? Is there any problem in that? Thanks!
@ohbrotherthisguystinks8580
@ohbrotherthisguystinks8580 4 жыл бұрын
tatoxl I’m not 100% on your first question but I know Himalayan salt is best for reasons? Like I said, I’m not sure. On your second question though, yes, retaining liquids is the point. Since you’re not replenishing your body’s electrolytes with food during a fasting period, you want to minimize your loss of electrolytes through urine by retaining water through salt intake.
