Top advice and total correct. A couple of years ago I had a lease on a VW E-UP. But due to delays in the delivery I contacted the broker and had a polite conversation. I asked if there was anything else that they could offer me. The trim the car and the lease was all flexible. They offered me the Citroën E-C4 Shine Plus.... The broker also said to me.... if I went for 2.5yrs the deal would be the very best. I took what he offered and got it for £265/mth. Great deal and well worth a friendly chat.

I got a cracking lease deal on a dealership unregistered new Mini Countryman S E Sport L3 - I had been in to order one exactly the same as the car sat out the front of the showroom that was waiting to be their demo car, on the Saturday before Easter and on the Tuesday got a phone call asking if I would like the car at the end of the week instead of the factory order for June delivery and the lease deal was the same. Only problem was insuring the car - only BMW would quote me as it wasn’t then on any insurers database! Turns out that their premium is £250pa cheaper than anyone else I’ve asked to quote in the last month! Great thing was my Countryman was the only one not a demo car for nearly 2 months after I took delivery so I never saw another except one with dealers demo stickers on it. It was the only one at Everything Electric at Harrogate over the May Bank holiday too - Mini didn’t even have one on show there!

There are website capable of isolating a selection of cars by tow weights but there doesn't seem to be any lease broker that allows you to specify a tow weight and select lease deals from that. Perhaps you could suggest at lease loco that they can include that search criteria!

Hi Jim, nothing to do with the video subject but the car on the thumbnail which just came to me and you may not know! (Tap up your VAG contacts). Why hasn’t Audi made an avant/estate/shooting brake version of the GT ETron? Seems odd that Porsche have done it with the Taycan but not Audi who are estate masters! Hmmm, ponder away!

I did contract hire as a job, the excess ppm is always in the system and the broker should tell you this so you can budget accurately for the annual mileage your doing, signing a contract without knowing is not good, I mean the excess ppm could be a £1 per mile my advice is get the ppm before you sign cheers

I used you advise on my first personal lease broker was good it's was actually a lot cheaper taking 13k but my extra 1k per year was alot cheaper paying the additional mileage at end lease and also taking over 2 years and extending after 2 if I want to rather 3 year lease

Of course you can up to a point. You get a quote, get them to contact you and discuss the price. Where there is a will there is a way. Any savings are a saving.

Leasing was a good option recently, but not now in the UK.

I’ve had problems getting the excess per mile charge from brokers, they’ve said they can only give me it when the finance has gone through which I’ve never understood. Hence I always have over subscribed on the mileage and sent a car back at the end with a lot less miles than on the contract.

Might sound like a really obvious question 🙈 how do you check your credit score? Also - if a car lease is advertised for a certain price, how does a credit score affect that? Isn’t the price just the same for everyone?

Is it perhaps "easier" to negotiate on servicing costs as part of a deal??

Somewhat related question: how long should I be expecting to chat with a lease broker? Hours? Minutes? If I enquire about an amazing flash deal while I'm at work, might I then miss out if I can't make 3 hours during the workday to chat with the broker?

The one thing that keeps putting me off going down the lease route is that at the end of the lease having to try and make sure that I can get another car that I actually want at the same time the other goes back and not be left car less. Any advise on that one Jim, ? Or am I just over thinking things……

If you start a lease with say 6,000 mi per annum but subsequently start a new job with double the commute taking you over that can you renegotiate lease terms?

Can you get a lease on a nearly new or used car, say one or two years old?
