Found all the way atop the Golden Spear in Leyndell this Ancient Dragons Lightning Spear is one of the coolest legendary weapons in Elden Ring but it's best qualities are also it's downfall... This run is part of a challenge I did to complete multiple different no-hit runs that my viewers requested before the end of 2022. There were 40 requests and I managed to complete them all just in time.

Rules: Complete the game while not taking any staggers or damage from enemies or traps. Environmental or self hits/damage are allowed, including fall damage. There is a required death at the beginning of the game which is not counted as a hit because it is needed for progression.

The Bolt of Gransax doesn't have the best AoW by any means, but it's invaluable to pure dex builds because it offers a long range option. Plus it looks badass as fuck.

A lot of the weapons Gino used on these runs are like, super good in PVE but not really great in PVP. I feel like this is pretty much the opposite, this thing destroys in 3v3 arenas with the right build around it, but it's kinda meh in PVE.

Ah, the one and only Bolt of Greatsex. I used it as a main weapon on my last run (pure dex). Pairs great with a shield, is really fun to use and is a really solid weapon.

I love Morgott. He is so graceful in his fighting style is like he is dancing. It is a really sad character. He does everything to protect his believes although those believes cast him aside for being different.

Just wanted to drop a quick comment saying I just finished an 11 vigor 80 faith incantations run thanks to you. Not exactly a no hit by any means but felt good doing most of the bosses without taking damage. Keep up the great runs!

When I first played through Elden Ring I fell in love with this thing as soon as I saw it. Interesting design, one of the few heavy spears in the game, unbelievably badass AoW. Decided to use it as my NG+ weapon because it's so cool and easy to build for. I didn't finish the run with it. I started out dual wielding two of them but the damage just wasn't competitive with other cool weapons I wanted to try. I'll still use it every now and then because it's fun but the AoW takes forever and uses a decent amount of focus per cast. Extremely cool. Very fun. Not the most practical, but if practicality is what you're interested in from a golden spear that spits dragon lightning you might have been doomed from the start.

The usage is just as niche as both lorettas's sorceries: snipe from what It feels kilometers away from the enemies doing the first hit or two agains them, even then, for a bossfight, if you can not deal more than 10% of the Boss HP, open Up a fight with the black knife Ash of war is like a 12% Max HP guarantered damage

My brother and I got Elden Ring recently due to the holiday sale. I like Spear weapons in other games, so I wanted a spear build. Found this randomly and used it the rest of the run. I absolutely loved it! My next run will be Gravity Bolt focused

I just watched a video of someone doing a playthrough with double bosses. You should make it a huge goal to do a no hit run with double boss. And you choose your fighting weapons and style. Accomplish it and you'll have your name recorded in the legends.

I think a cool different take on New Game+ they could have done would be to start the game over, without any increase in difficulty, but your stats, runes and weapon upgrades would be fully reset (perhaps also resetting the bell bearings that allow you to buy upgrade materials). That way we have a legit way to have any gear/spells we want right from the beginning. As a bonus, it would be cool if Great Runes carried over to New Game+ too, or get access to them all after beating just one shardbearer (which would typically be Godrick), just to keep the first shardbearer fight a little more balanced.

but you wont have the stats to use the spells and gear you have? by the time you invested enough runes into levelling yourself up, you probably could have gotten your weapons or spells again for hardly any extra time at all.

@@christian171 You can get stats really fast by grabbing scarseals/soreseals and Godricks Great Rune and by bleeding Greyoll and making the Night Cavalry at the bridge in Caelid fall to his death. This way you can probably get the stats to use 95% of the weapons in the game in 20-30 minutes. P.S. (edit): There's actually no reason to grab the soreseals/scarseals or great rune as those are carried over to the new game too. So it would be even less of an issue. There's also quite a lot of gear pieces (which would also carry over) that grant high amounts of stats. Like the +6 int helm or +8 arcane helm.

@@christian171 And you can grab a lot of weapons early, yea. But those weapons are not the problem. The problem is wanting to use weapons that are locked behind something that makes them impossible to get early. Like late game boss weapons and anything at the Snowfields, Haligtree or Farum Azula.

@@Phaxey yes, but if you need to immediately move to get more items or rearrange your entire build just to use the weapons you already have, you make NG+ immediately less fun. So now you rearrange the entire NG+ sequence just so that a scant few players, who A- Don't want to replay with their upgrades, B- are willing to grind and rebuild just to start from the beginning again, C- want to use late game weapons. That's a tiny fraction of the player base, for everyone else except those few people, would more than likely be significantly less fun or engaging. Not to mention that late game weapons are built to scale into late game, so starting in early game means you have to change how quickly they scale, otherwise early-mid game has little to no challenge besides getting the requirements.

@@christian171 It was just an idea that I thought could be fun to have as an option. I never said it had to replace the current formula. It's fair that you don't think it would be fun. And I doubt you have any statistics that support what you say is a tiny fraction of the player base. "Not to mention that late game weapons are built to scale into late game" This isn't true though. You can find weapons early that have great lategame scaling, and you can find weapons late that have poor lategame scaling. It varies wildly between weapons and it's not consistently related to when you can acquire them. Axe of Godfrey is from the 2nd last boss. But Greatsword can easily be looted in the overworld in Caelid at level 1. Lance is from Limgrave, scales better than Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. Iron Ball is from Liurnia, scales better than Veteran's Prosthesis from Mountaintops. You can literally start the game with Uchigatana, and it scales better lategame than Hand of Malenia. The list goes on. And vice versa.

I made a lightning build with this weapon it was by FAR the most fun I ever had in Elden ring and I highly recommend giving a lightning build a try. It is by no means op or super good but it is INCREDIBLY fun to play

Im running this this build with dex and faith split with dragon gravel stone seal with ancient lightning incantations and it shreds enemies pretty fast. I get your point though this weapon is not that great for no hit run because of the charge time.

Q: Why don't you set up a character that is at the end of new game that has almost all the collectibles (cookbooks, spells, talismans, etc.) and just respec for Journey 2 using special weapons? That's what I am doing, but it takes a LOT of work. Oh, I forgot to mention. As your character develops, archive off the save file so you could use it for various configurations and still outfit your 'base' character so it has more items. For instance if you need a specific weapon for a new run, get it on your base character. Archive the safe file, then respec for the new game. Then your base character is continually getting better.

I’ve got more than 50+ successful invasion kills on my 104 build. 70 Dex with right buffs I’m hitting 1,300s. One shotting people. It’s easy to dodge though so it really feels like hunting lol

Rushed through to get bolt on one my playthroughs…once the novelty of the aow wears off, its actually a bit boring. I went back to treespear and never looked back. That thing’s charged R2 basically carried me through the game.

Bolt of Gransax definitely shines a lot more in pvp. Significantly longer than every other spear but the pike, lightning damage, insane spear powerstance moveset, a really easy to optimize AR with only mild stat investment, and the ash of war can delete people if you catch them unaware. It's just unfortunate that in the context of killing bosses its actual damage and utility is just lower than other options.

You can easily one-shot enemies in PvP with the right gear and buffs (which is always hilarious), but it would be nice if it was a bit faster.

I think the cast should be faster and the projectile slower. It's really strong in pvp and kinda of bs imo. I think it could be a little easier to dodge, making it more balanced to pvp, and the faster cast makes it better for pve.

It feels like you expected the ash of war of this to be some super strong, good in any situation nuke. When it's fairly apparent that the ash is mainly just a good long range option for a dex build. So ya if you're up close to something, you probably should just be using regular weapon attacks and only using the ash for situations where you have the distance where the windup isn't much of a detriment.

It is the best counter to Godfrey's dash+stomp i know of, you get a full charge if you react to the dash instantly since airborne frames dodge the stomp hitbox completely (unless you're upclose since Godfrey himself becomes the hitbox for a brief moment)

It’s a trash primary weapon but I keep it in my pocket for my lightning build because it’s far more effective at range and damage than the regular lightning bolt incantation. Plus it stun locks melenia.

Stars of Darkness? Tough fight, but do remember that Rock Sling is a viable option (meteor staff in offhand), because Astel takes more damage from gravity damage

The meteor spell behind Caria Manor is what you want for Elden Beast. Kill Loretta, then go down to the Gaol and kill the boss there. I also think Astel's meteor spell is more AoE but less concentrated dmg for a boss.

the ash of war where you summon the blades above you does 40 poise damage when it hits, and since you can precast it and then it fires on its own, you can combine it with your own attacks simultaneously for huge burst stagger damage
