When I was a kid, I had a clear picture in my head of a cutscene that would play at the end of the game: the train tracks break off at a cliff, the character jumps, grabs a special rope, and rolls down to his house, and the police officer, who is too heavy for the rope, stops and yells angrily after the character. I have no idea where I got that idea, but I believed in it with all my heart.

ok yeah the guy who put the graffiti on the train and the police officer running for forever are both extremely impressive, but imagine the people that built the railroad and seemingly infinite amount of trains

As someone with a little bit of development experience I would think that the reason why your points no longer register after that certain point is probably an overflow issue. Most variables have a set length that they can be depending on the language it's coded in, once the game tries to print the number with 1 more digit than it can handle it doesn't know what to do, and breaks. I hear a lot of metroid speed runners use overflow glitches by spamming certain commands in certain areas that already have really long lines of code. I don't know enough about the subject to be certain but at first listen that would be my thought!

Man, Tetris does have an end, and it’s amazing. As you reach a certain amount of points which I dom’t clearly remember, there will be one of the following endings: The first one shows something like the Kremlin and a bunch of videogame characters such as Link, Kid Icarus and a few from Mario games. After showing all the points and stats, pieces of the building will basically start taking off like little rockets till it’s all gone. The second one shows the same building that basically takes off as a whole rocket, and yeah that’s basically it. The last ending just shows the Kremlin again, but this time there’s an actual rocket takin’ off. I believe in the very first version there was yet another ending showing just some Russian guys dancing. I might have fucked up the order of the endings a little.

I was a weird kid- I would give the characters voices and at some point I reached the insanity point of imagining that Lucy was the cop’s daughter and he was running after her to punish her for ruining his trains. *Cough* *Cough*

Police officer: *I will transcend to the fourth dimension to catch this damn rapscallion. I will catch him one day. 34 years later, even when the world ceases to exist, I will avenge that poor train.*

This video made me realise how scary the subway surfers world is when you really think about it, the cop literally chases you to the ends of the Earth, moving trains will either hit stationary trains that you’ve already passed or just stop existing once they pass you, trains are stopped in the middle of nowhere, the subway never ends and neither the kid or the cop ever sleep, drink or eat for thousands of years. They forget who they were before, there whole lives just becoming running and running and running, the kid can’t even remember why the cop is chasing him, and the cop can’t even remember why he is chasing him or what his life even was before this because its been so long. It’s terrifying when you think about it.

I remember back in like, 3rd grade somebody told me that at the end of the train track the police officer would give you a sandwich so then i started grinding the game for like 3 days straight I was very intelligent

The highest score I ever got on Subway surfers happened in August, it was 1,227,276. It was the highest score I’d ever gotten, and, it took 45 minutes. Painful, super, painful. But worth it.

With Tetris is it also a matter of Tetris version, i rember buying Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and playing the Tetris endless mode for 3 hours straight. You hitting the speedcap somewhat fast, but also piece rotation stalling wasn't effected by the modifier. To clarify how broken the rotation stalling is in that version and how easy it is to get to this endless point, i wasnt even able to set up simple T-Spin-Doubles back then.
