Can You Really Trust Alhaitham? | Genshin Impact Lore

Throughout genshin impact 3.0 main story we are told on several occasions that we shouldnt trust Alhaitham. People say he is dangerous, unstable and of course untrustworthy. But why do people think this way and is there any truth to it?
Some part of this video comes from the actual lore while others may be speculation as we currently do not know the full story. As such take it with a grain of salt as the point of this video is just a deeper dive into genshin impact lore.

Just off of how little he reveals about himself you can tell there’s definitely something odd about him. Like he knows something he shouldn’t. Also if you look into his idle animation with his three mirrors, it reveals that he thinks the foundation of the universe is the underworld and death.

Being as smart as he is, maybe hes figured out what a handful of people have with the entire world being fake and stuff. I never noticed the idle animation thing though so I wonder whether thats his intuition telling him about the connection between the world and the abyss

The Elm you're speaking of is actually the arabic world علم which means knowledge. Considering what we know about Alhaitham so far, for sure, I strongly believe that علم being the reference in his idle animation is a way more valid theory than the elm -tree of death - theory. Latter is too far-fetched and doesn't correlate well with what we know about his character. Even though it's hard to believe, he's just a simple man who's seeking the truth out of interest. He's not the Scarlet King and he's not referring to the Elm tree in his idle animation. But people have always had difficulties in understanding and judging Alhaitham correctly, in-game and in real life, so you're not the only one to be overthinking simple matters.

@centralfinitecurve3812 the part where he is self-sufficient and independent from society, and is critical of the truth and Doesnt get manipulated easily.

I love kaveh but he sounds so aggressive in the eng dub and from what I’ve heard he sounds a lot more teasing in the other languages which suggests they don’t actually hate each other they just like a bit of banter but interpret them as you like

If you see it from the perspective of Kavehs story, I dont think he hates alhaitham either. Its like this mutual respect where alhaitham is just this direct person and while it grates kaveh sometimes he still values that aspect of alhaitham as Kaveh is naturally a more idealistic person. A personality that has gotten him into problems and why sometimes he is envious of alhaithams direct and realistic views
